oh okay, you go with the flow
i want to find out if there's a way to show the status bar on the new nautilus in quantal, should I post a question?
they changed the nautlus to the old one.
I'd hate that I have to select all the items in order to see space usage details on a particular directory/partition.
have you updated your system? they have switched to the same version that was in precise.
and o/ @mateo_salta
00:11
@jokerdino oh, I did yesterday, but nothing's changed. I'll try again, thank you
@msPeachy hmm screenshot maybe
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
okay, will try later, can't update/upgrade now I'm on proxy
alright.
00:15
btw, why the change?
why they changed to old one? because the Ubuntu developers didn't like the new one.
i see
@msPeachy eww. i see some modified css styles on the horizon
How do we find high traffic duplicates? http://meta.askubuntu.com/q/3883?atw=1
00:27
:)
jrg
jrg
@GeorgeEdison no, from a third party.
@jokerdino awwww ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
dammit
no
that's garbage
@RolandTaylor you hate the old one too? :D
jrg
jrg
@RolandTaylor not that bad.
i seem to like the new one
00:29
@jrg There is a way you can work around it.
except for the appmenu
Let me check.
@jokerdino I prefer the new one.
This old thing is.... crap.
@RolandTaylor same
Is there no way to keep the new one without locking it in?
00:31
i was told they will have the new one in the repo..
but not too sure about that.
@jrg Okay, here's what you have to do:
1. Download the actual extension.
2. Go to chrome://extensions in the address bar.
3. Drag the file you downloaded into that window.
@jokerdino I'm going to be honest.
Once you've done that, you will see the usual installation dialog.
jrg
jrg
oh. drag and drop
I'm actually angry they went ahead and downgraded it
jrg
jrg
00:32
derp, i'm stupid
@jokerdino that vid is awesome.
Just tried it in Chrome 21 and it worked.
the current version is blah!
3.4.2 is an insult to my intelligence!
@RolandTaylor i don't know why :/ even the poll on OMG favoured the new one.
@aking1012 apparently, the guy only sprained his ankle
I'm working on a Python script that generates NSIS scripts.
00:33
@jokerdino somebody needs to lock the Gnome and Ubuntu developers in a room
@RolandTaylor you? :D
@GeorgeEdison that could be really useful
@aking1012 I sure hope so.
After they sit together in a room for a few hours - their mutual... problems... will cause them to realize they need to fix some issues.
SUCH AS LISTENING TO USERS.
00:35
wow why did the video for webapp integration get pulled from youtube?
@lazyPower wait what?
@RolandTaylor :/
@lazyPower maybe because they plan to downgrade to a previous version of Unity
ok the one by jonobacon is removed -- i found another -- youtube.com/watch?v=AUTNxi6b-hw&feature=player_embedded
or something
i see it fine
yeah the ubuntu channel video is still there
00:36

Q: I need help stopping the purple and black screen of death

Nunya BusinessAfter installing Ubuntu 12.04 and rebooting I came across an issue. Instead of seeing the usual Ubuntu screen, I see a blank purple screen when booting Ubuntu and a blank black screen when I booting Windows XP. The only way for me to access the OSes regularly is by me putting the computer on stan...

slightly better than doestroll
btw, how serious is my username?
joker != is going to complain
right.
should change to something more trolly
change it to: iSurroundPeerGynt
no sir. i can't afford legal tussles with Apple.
00:42
it was just camelCased. how about meSurroundsPeerGynt
maybe mesurroundsqueergynt?
jrg
jrg
i probably shouldn't mention what my next hardware purchase will be, given the current topic. ;P
tell me it ain't apple stuff
@jrg an inline hardware autoproxy switcher?
jrg
jrg
@jokerdino it will be. ;P Used iPad 1, need something cheapish that will work as a color PDF reader, SSH client and email machine.
not much else.
@aking1012 I wish.
00:49
@jrg nice knowing you :))
jrg
jrg
Hey, I'll buy what it takes to get the job done. ;)
i considered an android, but i've not been impressed with the ones i've seen in the past.
@jrg devkit 8000 with a ten inch touch shield... then if you're not impressed with it, who's fault is it?
jrg
jrg
@aking1012 Uhh.... the softwares? I want something that just works, don't want to spend any time tinkering with it. :p
@jrg: I'd wait a bit for the next gen if it isn't a hurry
lots of really nice tablets coming up
jrg
jrg
00:52
life is too short to spend configuring my system.
dude, you washed or bleached your dog?
@jokerdino ROFL
<-- lives to tinker
jrg
jrg
@JourneymanGeek Hurry is 1-2 months, budget is small enough that I can't afford anything newer. :(
does really love the e mail support on his phone. SSH client would work, other than that I have the ONE phone the damned client dosen't work with out of the box
@jokerdino: different box
@jrg: both the nexus 7 and surface are 200 USD or so
nexus is out now
00:53
@JourneymanGeek same dog different filter?
@jokerdino: different lighting/camera
alright.
the old photo was natural light, this is lit by an old ikea light
at least you didn't use instagram
jrg
jrg
@JourneymanGeek Nexus is still $100-50 more than I can afford. not to mention I'd take a larger screen at the cost of a slightly slower/older/"not-as-capable" device.
00:54
can these 2 be merged?

Q: Is it possible to upgrade ubuntu 12.04 to 12.04.1?

AshkerI want to upgrade to 12.04.1 from 12.04 LTS. Is it possible? If possible then How?

0
A: How do I get 12.04.1 to appear on the update manager

nimd4I can't find a way to just comment on an answer, without posting my own. :( Is it possible to upgrade ubuntu 12.04 to 12.04.1? mentions using lsb_release -a to check whether your version is Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS already.

jrg
jrg
@msPeachy let me look.
merged
@msPeachy hey
@jrg thank you, btw, no you don't scare me...:))
@RolandTaylor hey hey
@msPeachy i swear you are not rolling on the floor.
and much less, laughing.
@msPeachy what's up?
@jokerdino if you tickle her and push her off the chair, she will roll on the floor laughing :)
00:57
@jokerdino true, I'm more of a smiler than a laugher anyway, lol
@RolandTaylor hm let's say i only have two arms?
@RolandTaylor oh nothing much, same old routine, woke up, breakfast then AU.
@msPeachy you should change it to SOTCS (sitting on the chair, smiling)
@jokerdino I have 3, one is in my phone
@msPeachy lol
@RolandTaylor LOL, violence
00:59
@RolandTaylor ARM? you joker
@jokerdino SOTCS
@msPeachy xD I would be able to charge him with assault and battery :D
/me is thinking about re-installing with lubuntu and only keeping my /home folder. anyone done that and had issues with ~/.whatever? or it just works?
@jokerdino :P 680Mhz :)
jrg
jrg
@aking1012 had issues with chrome, but as long as you're A. not encrypted and B. staying on the same release should be good.
01:00
@RolandTaylor xD
@jrg true and true (well, FDE, but I can manage that part of it)
jrg
jrg
@aking1012 ah, see thats easier to deal with. yeah, you should be fine.
@RolandTaylor lol, well I'm gonna have to bail him out
can't open gravatar
01:11
@msPeachy lol :D
@RolandTaylor :)
@msPeachy have you tried the site itself (I mean going to gravatar.com)
well i wanted to change my avatar
can I do that outside of AU?
okay, thank u
01:26
@msPeachy you're welcome :D
btw, sorry for my slow replies - my brother is on the radio and I'm also working on something in blender :P
@RolandTaylor he is on the radio?
@msPeachy yeah
CITA
what's that?
@msPeachy it's a station I sent to you before lol
oh let me check
01:30
mew
can't hear him, same problem as before, I clicked on play but don't hear anything. He has a talk show or something?
I think this is just a user complaining. I don't see a question here:

Q: Ubunto S.O. core functions not displayed

Fernando dos Santos QuaresmaFirst of all let me tell you i'm completly new to unix sistem, had on the past few contact (wen it was only cmd lines and it was like ... boring). Few years later i found mandriva , fedora and few more, a friend recomended ubuntu , and i tryed out the great software every body was talking about ...

Argh!
@AmithKK: If you find a funny package showing up in your PPA, that was an accident.
Hopefully I've gotten rid of it by the time you read this.
ohh @GeorgeEdison - you did say you have libvorbis, libtheora, and libogg already static cross-compiling right?
Yup.
In all of the confusion I'm not sure if they're built on Launchpad at this exact moment though.
I made some radical changes to the Python build script, some old recipes broke, and I'm not sure if they've been rebuilt yet.
01:44
thx. just checking. it may come in to play soon-ish. if you've got it working, that's the important part. i don't think if i was all: "Hey man can you mail me the patched tar.gz" you'ld be like "NO!!!"
I'll give you the link to the page containing the list of what's in the PPA right now.
awesome
how are the packages not signed?
Looks like I need to run the libtheora recipe again.
@aking1012 Anything built using the recipes remains unsigned.
I have no idea why but there's not really anything I can do about that.
(Short of hand-uploading the packages myself, which is ridiculous.)
01:47
oh. okay. that's fair. i was just wondering. it would be nice to have a "signed as repo maintainers" spot so it doesn't complain about unsigned packages wouldn't it? i feel a wishlist bug coming on
I can look into it... but with all of the other more pressing problems, I can't promise it will be a priority.
Yay! wxWidgets is now built for Precise on Launchpad!
Once I finish this NSIS-generating script, I'll write up a blog post outlining the goals of the entire project and providing some examples.
Maybe then some more people will become interested in the project.
@GeorgeEdison i didn't mean you. i meant a bug against lp
omigosh
@msPeachy sorry :O
I got carried away with the radio
@msPeachy no he's on one lol
02:03
@RolandTaylor that's okay
@msPeachy I wish it was working for you :P
@RolandTaylor me too, I have a very slow Internet connection, still can't open gravatar
02:24
done writing a meta answer. now time to write a meta topic
@msPeachy meta.askubuntu.com/questions/3980/… asked as you commanded me.
@RolandTaylor ^
@jokerdino :) thank you
Uh-oh!
I have used up nearly 25% of my PPA already.
@RolandTaylor What... are you trying to say...?
@GeorgeEdison randomness at the highest level :D
There, now it's directed correctly
@RolandTaylor
@jokerdino +1, very nice.
02:42
@msPeachy hahahaha
@msPeachy which one?
@jokerdino the meta
@msPeachy oh ok. thanks.
many can write better than me. I only scrap through
02:43
@RolandTaylor that was supposed to be a response for the riffle thing
@msPeachy you'll never escape :D

Q: Can we better organize Broadcom questions?

jokerdinoI would suggest if we can have one question for each of the Broadcom chipsets, with one answer covering each of the release. So, we would have one question about Broadcom BCM4313 (and other chipsets) and multiple answers with each of them targeting one release version each. The main reason behi...

@AskUbuntuMeta that was fast

^--- Launchpad didn't pay much attention in math class.
02:57
@msPeachy wanna see what I'm working on in Blender?
@GeorgeEdison :P
@GeorgeEdison lol
Somebody's maths are all wrong.
@GeorgeEdison you should be doing 503.7/2.0 GB o.O
Not GB, GiB.
I was wondering if it is because of that.
02:59
A gibibyte isn't the same as a gigabyte.
I mean you did 2/500 instead of 500/2
Oh... oops.
Give me a second to correct the image.
Thanks :D
@jokerdino can't access the page
@RolandTaylor sure
@msPeachy try now
03:01
There, fixed.
@GeorgeEdison Perfection.
Can you answer this? Change wifi roaming aggressiveness http://askubuntu.com/q/179648?atw=1 #wireless
