yeah
i've been here all day

:P
@Jorge we all know i have bugcontrol already (for nginx). do i need to file an application for ubuntu-wide bugcontrol, for formality, and include the fact that I have bug control for nginx within that application?

4:44 PM
If you register, you get a free OpenID :)

has been working on the application for the better part of three months
@GeorgeEdison i have ten already :/

Now you can have 11.

@jrg @marco or any other askubuntu mod: can you create a tag synonym such that 'symlink' -> 'symbolic-link'?
there's no questions using but its a common shortcut way of saying symbolic link

Q: Why is Ubuntu 12.04 removing -server kernel flavour?

gentakojimaUbuntu is removing -server flavour, as specified on release notes of 12.04 Beta2: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PrecisePangolin/TechnicalOverview/Beta2#Ubuntu_Kernel As with Beta-1, the Beta-2 kernel no longer carries separate amd64 -server and -generic kernel flavors. These have been merged into a...

this seems wrongly closed to me

@Jorge if it were reopened, i'd flag as localized

why?

he should be directing his comments to the kernel team's mailing list
not asking here
(therefore its not constructive here)
also, he refers to the Betas
if he wants technical details, he needs to go bug the kernel team
they make those kinds of decisions

...
that's the silliest thing I've heard today

5:06 PM
he could also probably go read the release notes
since kernel modifications are listed (technical specs) there

you know the kernel team watches the kernel tag right?

@Jorge and how many of them actively have checked here
also, you never answered my question earlier

which question?
you said you had a bug question but never asked it

@Jorge we all know i have bugcontrol already (for nginx). do i need to file an application for ubuntu-wide bugcontrol, for formality, and include the fact that I have bug control for nginx within that application?
@JorgeCastro i had a bugcontrol application question :p

not sure
I don't run bugcontrol man. :)

5:09 PM
:p
i'll go bug micah later, then
ugh, i cant type... probably the lack of coffee
COFFEE RUN!!!

Q: Says printing; finishes but does not print

sytobyI installed Linux Mint 13, 64-bit, Cinnamon desktop. I installed Canon drivers for MF4150. I added the printer. I printed Test Page and message said it was printing and printing completed but nothing printed.

@GeorgeEdison quickmediasolutions.com/apps/11/powerpad <-- how is this different than Notepad++?

It's cross-platform for one.
It also integrates with Python.
So if you wanted to extend its functionality, you could easily do that.

required libraries in linux to run?
(might make this into a .deb if its opensource)

Bounty offered: 3G USB Modem Not Working in 12.04 http://askubuntu.com/questions/143989/3g-usb-modem-not-working-in-12-04?atw=1 #3g

ok, I'm done I made my point. meta.askubuntu.com/questions/3280/…

@LordofTime It's not opensource :(
I wrote it long before I became an open-source-writer-guy-whatever-you-call-it.

5:20 PM
d'aw
does it have its own installer for linux, or does it need built like a normal program

No, I have a binary.
It should be on the website: software.quickmediasolutions.com/powerpad

cool. oh, btw. include licensing information (like, Closed Source licensing) or something for each program/item
that's my recommendation :)

That's a good idea.
Thanks for the suggestion.

also
http://quickmediasolutions.com/accounts/profile/ HTTP:404
right after login

There's no trailing slash at the end of the URL.

5:24 PM
well then the login system is wrongish
i didnt add the /, it did

It's odd that the link took you there though :~
Yeah, IU'll look into that.

its after i hit the login button :P
so... :P
also, add stackexchange to the "Recognized OpenID Sites" list if you can
(for openid authentication)

"Recognized OpenID Sites"?

mhm.

Are you referring to the warning that comes up?

5:26 PM
adding it to my stackexchange openids triggered a warning that it was not recognized/verified

Right.

rather than an "Are you sure you want to add this?" warning

That's because Stack Exchange doesn't support some fancy verification system or something.

ah
they need to, then
:P

I actually didn't write the provider implementation.
I used another open-source library and just adapted it a bit.

5:30 PM
eek, it seems i have sparked a war o.O
TONS of argumentation on this:

Q: Use of Mediafire or Anonymous Hosting links in Answers

Lord of TimeI am sort of reviving this, but sort of not as well. @BrunoPereira was aware of this, as I poked him about it. I did not flag it as I was being overly cautious, i just wanted moderator input at the time. But now that I think about it, these "anonymous hosting" sites (including Rapidshare among...

anyone aware of anything that can create NZB's of the songs in my spotify playlists ?

NZBs?

usenet, downloads
probably not allowed to be discussed in here tbh

@LordofTime: There, I've fixed the 404 bug.

@George might knwo :p
since he's a moderator of some chatroom/site
he'd know if NBZs and stuffs are discussable here

5:38 PM
I'm afraid not (by that I mean I don't know).

then perhaps we need the @Marco or the @jrg to comment. or some other AU mod.

I'm going to guess no
wow, rare one today, populist!

How to create an nzb (on Ubuntu), on-topic-ish. How do I share my music illegally with usenete, off-topic. It's all about how you ask the question IMO

how does this kind of stuff even make the news? Cookbook returned to San Francisco library brank 37 years past due
the better question is why did it end up on CNN's site

5:54 PM
They're not charging a fine? They could easily get a few hundred dollars.

A: Why is 12.04 removing the -server kernel flavour?

Leann OgasawaraAs you noticed in the release announcements, the generic and server kernel flavors were merged for the 12.04 release in an effort to reduce the maintenance burden over the life of the LTS. The two kernel flavors actually only differed with regards to 2 major kernel config options: the default I...

From time to time people ask about how to change a password, or make a user an administrator, when recovery mode doesn't work. There are a couple ways to do this from a live environment, and I've posted one of them, in detail, here. My hope is that even inexperienced users should be able to follow those instructions without too much difficulty.
