The Matrix Reloaded is a horrible movie for doing menial work to.
on the other hand, we have 100 questions tagged now, down from 250+.

Q: CHRON keeps running this task. What is it and how can I stop it?

Jackextract from syslog: CRON[pid]: (user) CMD ( [ -x /usr/lib/php5/maxlifetime ] && [ -d /var/lib/php5 ] && find /var/lib/php5/ -depth -mindepth 1 -maxdepth 1 -type f -cmin +$(/usr/lib/php5/maxlifetime) ! - execdir fuser -s {} 2>/dev/null \; -delete) My CPU has been stuck at 99%...

is it just me or I keep losing rep because my answers are getting deleted? o.O

jrg
Sorry @jokerdino. Stop answering dupes. :P

but, this latest answer is not a dupe.

jrg
which answer?

12:31 AM
answer itself is not a dupe.
and the OP even added me on Facebook after that.

jrg
so are you requesting a merge?

so, probably it helped him.
that sounds like a better idea
or i might have to open a question on meta to discuss whether deleting answers on duplicate questions is okay given the answer helps somewhat.
and, why exactly are we deleting answers on duplicates? makes me think i shouldn't be trying to mark questions as duplicates already.. :/

jrg
Because if you have a duplicate with no answers, it does a redirect to the master dupe for users that aren't logged in, which is the vast majority of our visitors.

that might have made sense if the answers were absolutely crap :/

Q: Automatically redirect anonymous user from unanswered duplicate question to corresponding answered version

Mad ScientistDuplicate questions that use different words to describe the same problem are important for people to find the content via search engines. But the user experience when an anonymous user arrives at a duplicate is less than ideal. They have to notice the duplicate link and understand that the answ...

12:36 AM
i am a little upset but i might be a little biased.
at least not delete the answer if they have a vote / not a duplicate of existing answers...

jrg
"if they have a vote" - that describes 99.9% of them right there, even the really sucky ones.

I think that's what the distinction between a close and a merge is...and I think that's up to the person doing the actual close/merge

jrg
a merge carries over answers. it's.. well, a merge.

Yes. I was just pointing out that auto-delete or auto-redirect on "close" might not apply to merges

@jrg a pair of votes then? xD
or if you are really into deleting the answers on duplicates, lmk. i'll delete the answers myself. at least i would have that sense of satisfaction.
time to mug for chemistry exam now. shrugs

12:49 AM
on a lighter note, i just booked my flight and hotel for defcon

btw, do whatever you want once i hit 10k. i wouldn't care less.

That should be a lot of fun.

@aking1012 heh great.
goes offline now.

@GeorgeEdison It should be.

izx
@jokerdino Singapore is roteville too? Too bad :(

jrg
12:55 AM
@jokerdino Ok, i'll keep that in mind.
@aking1012 sweet!

izx
is jokerdino gonna retire after 10k? :P

jrg
Sure seems like it.

i think mod-tools is motivation for him to push for it. he seems really motivated to keep the site clean and wants more tools to do so

jrg
however, he will have reached a worthy goal, and cemented his face on the front page of AU users for about 2 months. :P

izx
@jrg Hehe...

jrg
12:59 AM
that is incredibly vague.

I'm going with "This question not well suited to the QA format. There could be an entire book written on the topic. The QA format calls for mini-articles bordering on articles."

jrg
That should be a close reason.

I posted it as a comment

jrg
I saw and upboated.
(that joke got old fast)

Do we need to change the vernacular?

izx
1:02 AM
Row-boating is what's in (up,down, doesn't matter)

izx
@aking1012 Yes, please...

jrg
Just as long as it's not serial boating I'm fine. ;)

I give you the upgoat(similar to the flying pig from the best rfc ever):
4
The RFC I reference is here: tools.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1925.txt
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is
        not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they
        are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them
        as they fly overhead.

izx
So upgoats = baaaaa please, and downgoats = naaaaaaa please?

jrg
1:05 AM
RFCs are amazing.

The RFC for the Cisco HSRP/VRRP clone(I don't remember which) specifies the handshake nonce to be cisco in hex

I think the session manager guy is better than this one:
I need help on developing a UI for a app. Basically this app will have do panels, left and right, lets say. On the left panel will be displayed customers and when I click on the customer name on the right will appear tabs with information, some kind of form with name, email, picture, etc.

Could you write my UI for me? I want you to write an app I can use...

jrg
@izx Dear Sir: I will help you with your application. My hourly rates are $50, and they go up by a factor of 10 every 47 hours. Please email me at smart-nigerian-spammer@mwahaha.com
4

izx
@jrg Where can I send you my bank account number and ATM PIN?

jrg
1:10 AM
@izx The aforementioned email address.
Dangit, now I want that email address.

I once replied to a Nigerian scammer (dating themed) nicely with "If you want your spam to be taken seriously, you should change your email body to something that doesn't come up in google"

> "(6a) (corollary). It is always possible to add another level of indirection."
Lol.

@GeorgeEdison I figured you'ld like that RFC

izx
Doesn't the FAQ give people tips on how to write a decent title? Or are most newbies simply NRTFAQ?

jrg
@aking1012 I replied to a russian brides spammer once, saying that I was quite happy with my ThinkPad made in China.
(and before you take that out of context, no.)

1:13 AM
@izx It may. Maybe there should be a link to that Meta question about improving questions and answers+formatting etc if there isn't already.

jrg
We can edit a few parts of /faq.
mainly

@jrg They actually replied with a new email body from the same email address headdesk

jrg
@aking1012 Bwahahaha.

izx
Is quickly choking on uploading to first-time empty PPAs without a signing key? Lots of Qs on that in the last 24 hours...

jrg
i don't know, i can check.

1:21 AM
There really should be a single tutorial that does basic package to uploading signed to PPA (with a local id that doesn't match your launchpad id, as this is USUALLY the case) from start to finish. Sadly you have to piece it all together from a bunch of places. I have a text I'm working on that makes it linear, but it seems I'm too late

Erm... when I'm watching a DVD, Compiz is using more of my CPU than the DVD player (VLC in this case).

jrg

izx
@GeorgeEdison That's because it's adding some Unity special sauce to the video -- you'll feel better after watching it, promise.....

jrg
Is that the error people are getting?

@GeorgeEdison /me is not surprised.

izx
1:22 AM
@jrg let me check...

jrg
we need to do quickly configure first i think...

Is anyone able to migrate a Q from AskUbuntu to SuperUser for me? goo.gl/M5x42

izx
Yes, just slightly different invocations: [example](http://askubuntu.com/questions/155997/error-running-quickly-share-ppa-share)
Is it a DEBFULLNAME/DEBEMAIL problem?

jrg
@JeffWelling let me put a bounty up on that question, it isn't really something that superuser wants.

@izx it could be imo

jrg
1:25 AM
@izx i don't have that set, how do I do that?

environment variables

jrg
nope, that isn't it.

are you sure it matches the fullname, comment, and email on your associated signing key? i had that issue(my comment is: (no comment)). i thought it would be funny, and I have regretted populating that field to this day

Q: Writing a Session Manager

ChristopherI decided to write my own DE using these instructions here it worked and I can login however I didn't use a panel so I don't have a logout button or a session manager. I've decided to write my own session manager (instead of using established ones) so I can quit the session and return to the lig...

izx
@aking1012 I have effectively junked one of my old keys and now leave comments blank.

jrg
1:29 AM
wait, he cross posted!?

@UbuntuQuestionsonUL crosspost. nuke the question here and detag ubuntu

izx
Where oh where can I possibly find a mod to finally closegoat that question :P

jrg
@izx look at his comment...

Thanks jrg!

izx
@jrg I did, and it doesn't jive with his body at all, so I edited the title to be what he said he wanted it to be... (in the sincere hope that someone would look at the title and answer) :/

1:33 AM
I liken that to "I just want the three lines of code that will make my app work", which I think is equally invalid.

jrg
wait, i need a launchpad project for this? Grr. talk about vendor lockin, quickly reeks of it.

@jrg lolz

jrg
fun, timeout errors.
I BROKE LAUNCHPAD. :)

it simply wouldn't do to just quickly debuild -S <---
followed by quickly submit

izx
@aking1012 +1

jrg
1:39 AM
doing a quickly release right now.
we'll see how it works, if it works.
@izx i'm not seeing any errors yet

@izx --^

jrg
it's the debfullname and stuff

izx
@jrg It needs it or doesn't need it?

jrg
AH. ok, it just asked me for my PGP key.
@izx it needs it.

cool. at least it's sorted...(it's supposed to do that for you to sign your package)

izx
1:43 AM
@jrg <wallbang>

jrg
so sometime tomorrow morning i'll get an email saying my build failed for some reason. yawn
i smell a angry ranty blog post about quickly and vendor lockin coming on...
because that really irks me. yeah, there is little to no competition out there, however that doesn't mean that you should just "Use my APIs and only my APIs!"

i think it's supposed to be bzr made easy instead of "look how we made stuff portable so you can migrate easily from github"

jrg
Except I should have the choice - github, or launchpad for my code hosting/bug tracker?
(or gitorious! Or sourceforge!)

I don't think it should be a choice that implies one or the other. I think it should be quickly generate, quickly package, quickly git/quickly bzr. where quickly git makes a local git repo you can push or quickly bzr syncs to launchpad

Okay...
I am confused.
Paypal...
Ubuntu Software Centre...
>_<
WHY YOU NO EASY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

jrg
1:51 AM
sure, that makes sense. I'm just saying I don't like it right now. :P

@jrg agreed
but i'm so NOT forking quickly
@RolandTaylor Limits liability and legal exposure as far as I can tell.

jrg
and maybe because I'm used to Rails, where the only thing that they 'make' you do is follow their strict model-view-controller setup, and they don't even make you do that, it's just more of a "Yo, you should do this".
oh nononono. i'm not forking quickly either. ;P
Maybe it's because I'm really a hipster - I wear plaid, code in rails, use coffeescript, dislike compiled languages, use a "archaic" linux distro, and drink fair trade coffee once a month. zing!
anyway, i'm going to shut up now and go to sleep. night guys. :P

@aking1012 yeah it does
my problem is...

izx
Night-night, @jrg...

I'm not in the US and the setup I have to go through is confusing me
@jrg good night

1:55 AM
I kind of like the idea of good old debian packaging, but with a simple ./deb folder, a ./filesystem folder (where you put stuff you not smushing in to a makefile/egg/something) like ./filesystem/opt/appname/ and ./filesystem/usr/local/whatever, and a normal ./src

and night

izx
Did we finally decide to support derivatives or ruthlessly OT-close as usual?

I got the info from a friend but now I'm left more confused than when I started :)............

jrg
@aking1012 THIS.
@izx unofficial derivitives? Close ruthlessly.

izx
@jrg Some guy sneaking in a "PinguyOS", with tags, title reading Ubuntu and fine-print saying derivative....edited and close-voted.

@RolandTaylor it has come up on the app-developer mailinglist more than once. there was some discussion of how to handle countries that don't permit paypal...but i don't think anything was completely resolved

1:59 AM
Bounty offered: How to diagnose Ubuntu CPU spikes / IO wait? http://askubuntu.com/questions/116844/how-to-diagnose-ubuntu-cpu-spikes-io-wait?atw=1 #freeze

Is an "AMD NX2100 with 512k" one of those geode thingies? But then he says he's running an FX5200... I'm guessing his CPU has nothing to do with lack of 3D Unity though.

@izx isn't the NX2100 a camera that's dual branded Samsung and HP?
initially on reading, i assumed it was a processor with 512k L1 or L2 cache or that he meant 512M ram, but I just have no idea now

izx
@aking1012 Apparently it's a Samsung projector or some such....

@aking1012 my country permits paypal, and in fact I'm in the process of setting that up.

izx
@aking1012 He could be running one of the old Thunderbirds... 2100+ IIRC....

2:03 AM
My confusion is, how does one connect paypal to the Ubuntu Software Centre?
(All that paypal talks about in the documentation I was given refers to websites -_-)
I am getting close to pulling my hair out...

I haven't done a paid app submission. I would think it's in that submission process(and they pay quarterly iirc)

so wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait....
I don't NEED paypal?
What the hell is this?
I read some documentation just about two weeks ago that indicated you need a paypal account
now I'm seeing bank transfer
what is this?!

I think paypal is preferred, but they're willing to do bank transfer.

even the same paragraph says too different things
sorry if I sound upset, but I'm going through a stressful period, so I'm a bit hair-trigger

I'm there with you on stressful period. I haven't done it, but I had examined the documentation. The reference to developer portal makes me think there's a setting in there to associate your paypal or provide banking information which they will confirm before sending payment

2:10 AM
uhm. It seems i have been stratergically downvoted ._.

that's never pleasant
@JourneymanGeek I got you back to zero since he told you it was a bad idea, then dumped it in as part of his answer
now you're both at zero and community can decide the outcome

Thanks
It wasn't the rep, its just the principle of it ^^

I understand completely

(hence me not linking it, it'd be cheating)

When I get rich, I'm going to make life very hard for a select group of people... those who make life hard for everyone else.

2:15 AM
@RolandTaylor I understand your sentiments on that one

izx
Well, he's a mysterious fella who [theorized that 10 deg C immediate changes in HD temp](http://askubuntu.com/a/143097/58612) upon switching AC/battery, as reported by smart, were caused by the *battery* releasing heat or somesuch.
Anyway, I contributed my bit to restoring some balance in the Force.

nobody wants "balance to the force" didn't you do the math? always 2 sith there are, but there's an entire jedi temple. they WANTED to be annihilated ?

izx
@aking1012 I spat-spilled my mountain dew... ROFL

@aking1012: And then there's 2 sith, and no jedi. And then they kill each other. then both pans of the scale are empty!
The force is balanced!

2:22 AM
fair point i suppose. i would have just rebuked the prophecy and offed anakin immediately

well, they probably didn't consider the possibility he was a genocidal maniac

but then, i'm a pragmatist
my last post on the star-wars tangent, the sand-people village nuke should have been a clue

lol
I'm amused they tried the same thing with...
oh shit
something of the prequels that almost makes sense.

we can move it to multiverse if you want to continue

naw ;p

2:45 AM
Is this comment too trite?

Q: Why is the Chromium in Software Center so outdated?

Jagst3r15How come the chromium in the software center is behind a whole version. I see 19.xxxxxxx is out. I know that ubuntu does not have new versions out but I think chromium should be updated? Seems like the team that did it for ubuntu is inactive

izx
@aking1012 Trite is as trite does.... ;)

Was just making sure. I thought it was valid, but when I think I'm nearing grey area I ask in the General Room
I think there should be a game development targeted liveDVD/installable media with some PPAs already enabled. You know, like OGRE with all the plug-ins compiled and demo projects pre-configured in eclipse or codeblocks, blender by default, etc. Any thoughts?

izx
@aking1012 Enabling PPAs in anything even semi-official is like playing with fire, unless they're under "your" control and/or you're prepared to back them up with support

Fair point. I was referring to say, forking PPAs that are testably working. Then migrating changes piece-meal so you can revert them if required, but keeping it PPA based and mainline based
@izx - I just saw the I have an app with say two panels question. Oh god...
I had serious trouble not telling them to google callbacks
don't star that...kthx

izx
3:06 AM
Sorry, dozed off for a sec. I think the app showdown/quickly campaign is attracting lots of folks who've never programmed in anything...
I only star quality comments! :)

I was making sure it wasn't a funny star. And yes.

izx
I wonder why newcomers to Linux want to start off by triple-booting Win with Ubuntu and Fedora...

because they don't know any better
It would be a simple bit to write:
Please phrase your title as a question: "How do I X?"
Please refrain from phrasing a complaint as a question: "Why is XYZ slow?"
We want to help, but it makes it easier if you help us help you.

izx
and neither do their enablers...too tired to intervene...

Q: Should we change the FAQ and question box to encourage less vague questions? Or does that make the site less "friendly"?

Chan-Ho SuhConsider questions like "Why doesn't Internet work on my Ubuntu?" Obviously this is too vague and the person is not following the suggestion in the title box to "be specific". The catch-22 is that telling someone "be specific" is unlikely to help in the majority of cases. It's like telling a st...

@izx i don't think it merits intervention. it's just someone trying to be helpful for a tired question.

izx
3:15 AM
@aking1012 I was referring to sticking a warning note on the first answer, hadn't seen JG's answer which resolves the problem :)

@izx agreed and voting solved the other

izx
@tachyons Klingon.SE FTW

i think maybe they were fishing for the "Klingon and Romulan speakers are subsumed by the Scifi cite" to try and make an argument for UL subsumes AU etc...but then I'm often considered paranoid

@aking1012 it is just a duplicate of this canonical QA askubuntu.com/questions/151283/…

3:27 AM
@tachyons yeah...sorry i already voted as not constructive since it sounded like complaining

izx
3:43 AM
There needs to be a shadow comment layer, visible only to 2k+ users, reserved for snark....it would certainly help me vent creatively...

Or to users with X+ downgoats, X+ 'good' flags, or X+ 'validated' closegoats

I wonder, whether anyone see my answers that i deleted?

mods can. normal users can't

thanks

just for note: they can also see deleted chat msgs

izx
3:47 AM
@AnwarShah Mods and 10k+ users

yes...users with mod-tools
@izx gotcha

Can someone help me with this comment. I get offenced by the comment made here. I want to hear from you askubuntu.com/a/155665/61218

@AnwarShah his answer already got tanked. just sit back and smile to yourself

My problem was with the "Nonsense" word actually

@AnwarShah: I was complaining about it ;p
I'm tempted to say he did a stratergic downvote that tanked

3:49 AM
@JourneymanGeek I suspect so...

@JourneymanGeek, thanks. I also wanted to flag, but i feel it is better to discuss the matter before flagging

People call people idiots all the time. I personally would let the downgoats speak for themselves

izx
@AnwarShah What aking said -- don't get too worked up about it. Nonsense is on the lower end of the spectrum as far as insults go :)

I think the community sorted this out ;p

thanks, I decided to not comment to his latest comment also

3:52 AM
All I see when I look at that question is one person complaining about all the other answers followed by getting decisively downgoated

izx
When do downgoats lead to an answer becoming "greyscale"?

idk, i've seen it on as few as -1. i think it takes more than just a downgoat metric
it's gray now though

And somehow its my fault now ;p

izx
Hey, that's the OP who thought waiting 16 hours for the "experts" was too long...well lookie, he got experts of all kinds weighing in in the next 16 hours!

it's nobody's fault. it was someone trying to game the system
oooh i forgot to bookmark that one...linkification plz

izx
3:54 AM
I need sleep, I edited that title from "apache permissions wrong" or something!
@aking1012 done

hehe it's the same question...funny how that works
@JourneymanGeek just for the record, rep on serverfault should count double on the rest of stack network. it's incredibly difficult to get rep there(the rep i got there was accidental from a migrated question)

lol
Its true
honestly, the 'easiest' way to get rep there is edits

I got downvotes with a question within a few hours there

@AnwarShah: SF is really narrow in scope

izx
The other SE comp communities seem much less newb-friendly to me...a testament to our patience, I guess...

3:59 AM
I asked questions there when its wider
(which still gets upvotes, amusingly)

@izx i think the 'be nice' clause in the faq makes SU and AU easier to gain rep on, personally...scope is also a factor

izx
Well, "Is it Secure to Grant Apachie User Ownership of Directories & Files for Wordpress" is riding 3 upgoats on SF atm
@aking1012 Both probably explain it -- sheer volume too, I guess...

that probably helps too...UL has broader scope than AU i think, i just see it as having a more deep-technical flavour.
the disadvantage though is that they pick up a lot of our OT poor questions

4:56 AM
If Ask Ubuntu is the place I'm supposed to go to get help, why is every hit related to my answer closed with "... http://meta.askubuntu.com/questions/3495/if-ask-ubuntu-is-the-place-im-supposed-to-go-to-get-help-why-is-every-hit-rela?atw=1

1 hour later…
6:19 AM
Does anyone know what this means?

Looks like its in the arch repos

I wondered about that.

well, their equivilent of a PPA anyway

Q: Dovecot version upgrade

JahanzebI am using ubuntu 12.04 and dovecot version is 1.2.9, I want to upgrade my dovecot version from 1.2.9 to 2.1.7

6:43 AM
@izx not really. i just didn't have a better word to describe my boredom of studying for exams.
@jrg heh sorry for the outburst. the sleep deprivation, anxiety and desperation sort of made me a little upset. i should have been the one backing what mods do. instead of standing against them. do what you think suits the site right. i'll try to keep my mind cleared :)

Q: Switch Fn key state

xholickaI have this issue with Lenovo Thinkcentre Edge. Its keyboard has "Fn" key, which acts in my Ubuntu (with Fluxbox) as it is always "active/pressed" -> I can't use standard F1-F12 keys unless I hold down this stupid key. You see, I'm a programmer so it's really pain to me. So I decided to remap fun...

btw, askubuntu.com/questions/154949/… what is going on in here?

lol

@jokerdino That QA was a madcap soap opera earlier in the day
@Takkat: Excellent answer to that kid-PC question - advice I shall keep in mind too :)

@MichaelDell: Are consumer Dells now built with such poorly-supported hardware that they keep overheating using Ubuntu?

lol
the one dell i have running ubuntu has got one service go nuts, and uses up 100% of both cores. WIth multiple processes...

izx
@JourneymanGeek I had a few Inspirons/Latitudes pre-2005, and I don't remember Linux support being this bad...

(i don't think its the old dell tho...)

izx
Thinkpads FTW!

@izx: mine's a desktop, i pulled it from a dumpster ;p

9:41 AM
@JourneymanGeek Is that legal in nitpicky Singapore :P

... oh wait...
Well practially? Dumpster diving happens a LOT

Some three years ago or so, I got a working IBM PC/AT (286) off the curb; unfortunately had to junk it back when I moved and couldn't take all my junk with me
@JourneymanGeek, so did the "overload" on that question finally resolve or is there still the risk of a short circuit?

Which quuestion?

izx
@JourneymanGeek 403...

haven't really looked at it ;p
When i get teed off and emotional, i bitch, then walk away. Then hopefully come back more clear headed. Else whoever's on the recieving end is toast ;p
Also, checked with someone who's better than me, he's ONLY horrified by my use of octals rather than the letter-mnemonic sytem

9:57 AM
hello all
@izx You're brave, trying to figure out what Mr. Eastwood wanted.
By the way, that's my answer. I wonder what is it that he wants?

@Mitch It is Mr. Eastwood after all...I think he wants to ask something to the Digital Diaries OP about how to write things like shopping, doctor appts, etc. for the wifey but is disappointed since he has no comment-everywhere priv yet...

Throw him a few upvotes on that question before it gets closed -- worth it if he keeps himself to comments instead of creating new questions!

@izx would you mind taking a look at this, and let me know if you agree. Thanks

Q: How to change keyboard layout for just one user?

MonolithI happen to have a nice new MacBook with a, here it comes, German keyboard. All my colleagues work with US keyboards. Therefore, our Ubuntu 10.04 LTS servers are all set to US-keyboards. Is there a way to just set my own user account settings to a German keyboard layout without touching the sys...

@Mitch changing the CLI keymap should be easy, but I don't know how...

@izx is the information included wrong? Because I just installed server, and I haven't got time to go into it much.

Q: Why can't I comment on other questions/answers?

Clint EastwoodI looking for a diary program riting thinhs shoping docto apotment and things for wife and i found one the answer but i can not ask the guy a question like other answer you have coment this one no why? how i can leave coment? here is the answer question Digital Diaries For Ubuntu? can you he...

izx
@Mitch No, I added a little note at the top saying he can use X-forwarding if he wants to, just fo rthis. It's helpful to people who do have X installed on their servers, so I would leave it be.

@izx I saw that. Thanks a lot. This is why I made the switch to Ubuntu.
@izx I helped Mr Eastwood, by editing his complete question on meta.

izx
@Mitch Thanks, great edit!

By the way, why was it moved to meta?

izx
@Mitch Because it deals with the site itself, rather than Ubuntu, I assume...

Q: dont know from where to start

Maulana I Kahirawani'm newbie in linux, i'm just wondering if there is any solution to make ubuntu auto login and run the program. and if the program is close, so does the linux. my goal is to create POS system, but now just because the linux/windows, operator can play the game while working. thanks

@pl1nk Not A Real Question (close vote/flag reason)

@fossfreedom: thanks for the cleanup, appreciate your work here

OK, ignore my close vote on that; after comments it emerges that this is what the OP wants: any one know out-of-the-box solutions suitable for newbies or is he better off using a distro designed for being run in kiosk mode?

Q: How do I create a kiosk-mode where only one application runs, no games, etc.?

Maulana I KahirawanI want to create a Point-of-Sale (PoS) system with Ubuntu. (i.e. cash register). The system should start with the PoS application, and shutdown when the PoS app is closed. It must be locked down, and allow no other apps to be run, such as games, etc.
