if it's unrelated to the question, maybe some people confuse editing questions with asking them
that seems strange i know, but on answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu, i've seen people wipe out the entire text of someone else's question and replace it with their own unrelated question (not knowing that this is bad)

it is bad, but there's a wide range of skills people have coming in to Ubuntu, and some people are inexperienced (and even sometimes intimidated) by using a GUI and a web browser, so it's expected that some things that seem spammy or malicious are sometimes just mistakes

yeah...the wording around there was a little unclear to me, about whether or not which answer is accepted changes in the hypothetical scenario
but the name of the question is "will bounty be given to the accepted answer?"
so i figured the meta OP probably wants to know what happens when the hypothetical OP changes the accepted answer to the newer one that didn't originally get the bounty but also has more upvotes
Once a bounty is awarded (or the bounty period has expired if the bounty has not been awarded), you can't remove the bounty from one answer and award it to another.
What you can do, is to start another bounty and award it to the new answer as you see it fits.
The unity-lens-askubuntu package for Precise isn't available in the official Ubuntu repositories.

When I used to edit Wikipedia a lot, there would be a lot of complaints of that kind. "This article is only understandable by PhDs, who would already know the material! Why did you write such a crappy article?!"

@ChanHoSuh Personally, I didn't respond to the meta post I think you're talking about. This is because the encouragement of using GUI solutions, screenshotting, and step by step answers is completely counter to what the OP is saying in the question. I would have taken the response in a direction of "questions with simple answers, get simple answers. if you ask a question that only gets answers you don't understand, then perhaps you're trying to do something a bit outside of your experience"
but let's say, if an user wants to disable logging, and we talk about how zeitgeist doesn't have that function, would that user understand? I am just taking a different stance.
personally i think in that particular case if the user dropped zeitgeist in the search bar for the site and read the top 3 voted questions and answers, it would become apparent what is being talked about
i'm thinking a question something like "how do i package a python app that relies on user specific edits to a file into a deb for ppa?" pretty sure that would differentiate it from other questions that are laying about
I am planning to package FBuntu into PPA for easier distribution.
The nature of this app is that the user has to make specific edits to the auth.py file to make it work and hence I am stuck from proceeding any further.
Any guidance on how to proceed with packaging this would be welcome.

So let's get started. The first thing I noticed when looking at it was that it required importing auth.py. We need to change that, so let's make an auth.py that reads a local configuration file.

Very much agreed. I don't see the point in fracturing communities up into little bits. Computer programming and computer science should all be on topic for Stack Overflow. General computer usage should all be on topic for Super User. We don't need Ask Ubuntu, Ask Different, Computer Science, Theoretical Computer Science, and all of the other duplicately-scoped sites. I think tags are perfectly adequate for keeping content separate and letting people find what they want. I also doubt superuser would be featured in the Ubuntu installer since it's not a targeted site

@jokerdino someone else needs to weigh in on this too. i agree that fracturing a programming community may not be the best idea, but the commenter specifically notes number of questions. on AU, questions are progressing more rapidly than I think the OP understands. If I add another comment it will look like ranting
@jokerdino I really disagree with such a statement and, quite frankly, it confuses me.
I've been active on programming forums that tried to cover everything. That splits up a community because it simply grows too large for anyone to feel comfortable in.
And having huge communities where everyone uses his/her tags to find the sub-part of the community they like...

@OliverSalzburg I agree with this also, having larger numbers of smaller communities has its issues also. They both have negatives, but there are some great advantages to branching out when you reach SO size. I like knowing many of hte top users on my site by name, probably the top 10%.

@OliverSalzburg I understand opposing splitting say, python into another SE site. If it generates 10k questions though, his argument immediately becomes a moot point. This makes the AU is useless argument a totally invalid argument
