Sweet, flexible design is really nice
I hope my boss catches the value of this - just trimmed down a landing page from 20+ images and other bull honkey to 5 images and a few more lines of CSS. Degrades really well down to ie8, and looks sharp on moz and chrome.

10:58 AM
@lazyPower \o/

<3 bootstrap. this is quite possibly the handiest thing i've found in months.

@lazyPower Yeah, Thats an awesome platform
@lazyPower You do realise that picture is a moving frame right?

i say I've found.. more like JRG pointed me to.

@lazyPower Heh, Same here

Yep. in IE its still motion - theres a JScript error.
not sure whats going on i need to debug using the non minified copy but i've been staring at landing page code for the last eight hours. I'm ready to barf front end markup
@AmithKK and the reason i used the same image, i dont have a login to the stock photography account - so I'll let the copy team come up with images for it.

11:27 AM
Now unity-greeter also handles the lock screen. :D

Nooooooooo

jrg
@jokerdino You noticed that bug too huh?

The one where you lock the screen
and it switches back to the login screen?

oo fancy

It uses unity-greeter.

jrg
oh...

Use Unity Greeter to fulfil lock screen as well as login functions. Desired Solution: - Replace the current lock screen with the Unity Greeter

11:34 AM

A: Icons on Gnome-shell's top status bar getting drawn beyond normal

Todd M@l300lvl I encountered the problem beginning with v4. I installed it yesterday and then noticed the icon bleed over. I found that the height needed to be set to 16px for compatibility with gnome-shell themes that have very narrow top bars. Thank you for your work on this extension.

And the whole of this question.

@jrg Hmmm
\o/ Must Accept Challenge

jrg
@jokerdino Not sure.

jrg
Hm.
without the source code, I'm not sure I can pinpoint it.

Wow, I got a lot of up-votes on my answer! :) atm it's 12! :D

And hi there Octavian.
Is Octavian really your name? For some reason, it reminds of that evil scientist in Spiderman.

jrg
gosh darnit, I flagged something with a witty message to myself and then the post got removed. :P

@jokerdino Yup it is my real name. :)

Why you're still black @jrg?

@Gigili Oh hey!

jrg
because the SE staff haven't gotten to work yet? shrug

So you had a question.

jrg
1:14 PM
@Gigili Hello! :)

@Gigili wuddup. (jumped on the band wagon)

@Gigili Hi there!

Hello @jrg.
Hello @jokerdino.
Hey Octavian. Me? I can't remember! ;)

@OctavianDamiean that question was, "was it you that i know from google plus but i don't really know?"

@rlemon Oh, well ... Then .. What? Right.

1:17 PM
@Gigili go for the ride?

Oh right, I think I've even answered that question with a I don't know. :P

Eh? You said : "No, at least I can't remember" or something like that. Which has a negative connotation.

searches Google+ for Gigili.

Anyway, I'm 99.99% sure it was you.

Doesn't I don't know have a negative connotation? :D
shrugs

1:24 PM
Your name on G+ is not Gigili, is it?

Top-secret!

Alright. I'm totally confused. :P
Hope you're happy, you've confused the Octavian.

Heh, I didn't even try to.

Doctor Octavian

In a couple of years. :)

Doesn't matter. Canonical is hiring.

Q: "No description" filter on tags page

WilliamHaving a filter for no description would be helpful because then the tag editors can quickly tell which tags they need to make desciptions for.

Meme

@jrg ended up with about 10k page views yesterday, according to google analytics

wow, reddit magic?

total S3 bill .... 6 cents

Please look at my question
the bounty ends in 14 hrs

@William Nice idea with the tag filters!

2:34 PM
yes, I would like someone to take action on it, though.

You've got waffles respond that he likes it. It can't really get any better.

Yes. But I would like it implemented.

Right now nothing has come of it and I don't want to award the bounty yet.

I don't understand why people think that setting a bounty on a feature request would be of much value.

2:38 PM
Bounty offered: How to get back menu bar in Kile after switching to LXDE? http://askubuntu.com/questions/100710/how-to-get-back-menu-bar-in-kile-after-switching-to-lxde #menu

I am setting the bounty as a reward to whoever implements the idea.

I can tell you that diamonds generally don't care about reputation and a normal user that would care can't provide a definitive answer.

I don't understand why people set bounty on a meta question.

I set one to get my idea implemented.
I keep repeating myself.

They don't care about reputation points. I repeat myself. ;)

2:39 PM
But no one has implemented it yet.
SO I will award the bounty to whomever implements it.

Implementing features takes a bit of time if they get implemented at all.
@William Who do you think could implement it?

Yep, but a lot of people think that it's a good idea.
I think that waffles could implement it.
But I want him to say he will.

Do you think waffles would care about reputation?

If he does, bounty to him!
I know he doesn't care. It's a small incentive.

Makes sense. Totally.

2:43 PM
Bottom line: Me wants it implemened. I don't care who does it or how, or for what reason. I set the bounty because I'm running out of ideas. If someone sees the bounty as an incentive, great. If they don't, at least the idea got some attention.

Now to let you know how the reality looks like. :)
If the SE team thinks it is a good idea and that it should be implemented, it will be implemented. If not, then not. Regardless of bounties.

OK. I guess I am being impatient. I just want some attention to be given to the idea.
SO what do I do with the bounty now?

Guess what, a lot of people want that for their ideas. :)

Just forget it.
Oh, I see the new diamonds..

Nice. :)

2:48 PM
Pretty diamonds...
I asked @waffles to make his comment into an answer. He's showed the most intrest to date and will probably be the implementer.

hello is their any one using dell inspiron n5110

no
hello
bye @all

hello
is there any one using alps touch pad

3:22 PM
@chathurawidanage apparently not.

Anyone familiar with Java?

What's the problem? Except of Java itself of course.

non-static method logOfBase(int,int) cannot be referenced from a static context
How do i resolve this?

So basically you are trying to invoke a non-static method in a static manner.

Oh.

3:27 PM
You have to create an instance of the object you want to call that method on and do it on that newly created instance.

So, what do I do?
eh?
I forgot to say that I am not that familiar with Java. and the whole of programming.

SomeObject someObject = new SomeObject();
someObject.someMethod();
Instead of
SomeObject.someMethod();

ok i think i will make it simpler for everyone.
public double logOfBase(int base, int num) {
    return Math.log(num) / Math.log(base);
}
I got that logarithm processing method from the internet.
i have an integer charset that I want to find the log value of, with base 2.
double logValue = logOfBase(2, charset); gave me the above error.

Oh wait.

then, i do as you say, that is:
double logValue = new double;
logValue = logOfBase(2, charset);
@OctavianDamiean yessir.

3:34 PM
Of course, you are calling static methods inside of a non-static method. Basically your method needs to be static as well.
public static double logOfBase(int base, int num) {

I think that works.
i tried public double static logofbase and thought that is not what i should be doing.

hates Java

Oli
It's rubbish.

Java is the only programming language that I kinda know.

Don't try to get to know it any better! Switch to another language as long as you can.

Oli
3:39 PM
Your English is pretty good. You're practically fluent in Python already :)
2

well, I learnt Java for ~two years and I didn't grasp it much.
I want to learn Python..

Do it!
Do it before Java poisons your mind.

Well, then, I will be an understudy of @StefanoPalazzo. :)

3:53 PM
Hello all
You can never write bad python :D
@jrg Thank you bro :D

Well you can write a lot of crap even in Python it is just more readable crap. ;)

@Alvar Teach me java, Make me understand..

4:22 PM

@rlemon YU SO AWESOME?

@AmithKK When I was born the Doctor asked my mom to decide what type of person I was.. She was going to pick "Sarcastic", but the doctor urged her to pick "Awesome".. and well... here I am!

@rlemon cool story bro

I know.. I should tell another..
maybe later on.
@AmithKK non-VIM specific.. I need ideas on common keyboard commands which would be useful in an online code editor.
TAB, and CTRL+D are all I use :P

Oli
Control+S

4:26 PM
@rlemon What was that link

but I know CTRL+T does shit, same with others.
@Oli CTRL + Z, CTRL + S i'm going to handle.

Alt+C: Commet

Oli
Something for delete-a-line (Ctrl+D or Ctrl+K)

see how i've described the functionality of each. If you guys could be so kind to help me with this.. :P

@rlemon I cant edit

Oli
4:28 PM
Tab detection is fairly essential. I'm constantly jumping between \t and space*4
What the hell Spotify? I'm on Hardcore/Emo radio and it's playing Miley Cyrus at me.

@Oli LOL, Hannah Montana
@Oli Heh, You changed the algorithm- Now its 10x harder

OK, so I need a simple way for people to add/contribute command key ideas...

Please follow this format:

`<command-key-combination>`

* <what to do when nothing is selected>
* <what to do when a range is selected>
comment your ideas :P
I hope to make the most uber online editor. possibly implement live syntax highlighter... just trying to figure out how-in-the-hell I would do that without KILLING performance.

@Alvar Huh?

and better than jsFiddle's syntax highligher
:P

Oli
@AmithKK Why?

4:36 PM
@Oli Now It only pulls questions with answers with 0 upvotes

Oli
@AmithKK That's because +1 is considered answered now

@Oli But The script doesen't count it without +2

I've been using that Magic Trackpad for a couple of days, using a mouse feels so strange now. :D

@OctavianDamiean lol

Seriously!

4:39 PM
@AmithKK just updated your comment a bit :P on a range should it add /* */ around the entire range, because then you can select text within the middle of a line and have it commented out

@OctavianDamiean IKR? If you do

@Oli what deletes a line currently? is there a 'common' keyboard command? nvm... CTRL + K
CTRL + K for me is Delete Line, or Delete range.

Oli
@rlemon Nano uses Control+K, Gedit Control+D and I'm sure there are others in other editors

really, i thought gedit had ctrl+d line dupe

@rlemon BTW, How were my animations

4:41 PM
shoot, nope.
@AmithKK good, very grainy.
I liked the latter of them. not the first round with all the fire.
too 2001 for me.

@rlemon It was a Prerender

the clean ones with the 'gem' are nice.

:D Thanks

the text effects kind of remind me of 'Swish'
but overall, i liked it.
(now do it with CSS3)

4:43 PM
wha to the CSS3 or Swish

@rlemon CSS3
We are CHAOS.

the animation can be done programatically with CSS3 transitions/transforms/text effects

@rlemon Im interested

CSS3 is awesome. Not sure if you need to know more. :D

@OctavianDamiean I needs more

4:47 PM
No no, I meant to start learning about it. :)

will do
Wish me luck, We get our exam papers tommrrow.

@AmithKK I don't know how to do it in CSS3, but I am looking at every effect used and I have seen CSS3 achieve said effect.

@rlemon Wanna see my unicorn?

4:53 PM
@OctavianDamiean animate him... and make him do a facepalm.

That is a nice idea!

i'll make a userscript to look for /facepalm and play him.

anyways... lunch time!

@rlemon Technically its a facehoove

4:55 PM
Why? It isn't handpalm for humans either.

That's ridiculous. That'd imply that if I'd slap myself with my foot it'd be a facefoot!?

just promoting it again... common people! Give me ideas!
@OctavianDamiean face + palm of your hand == facepalm
face + foot == faceheel.
face + elbow == dislocated shoulder.

4:58 PM
Mhmm. Sounds legit.

@rlemon Face+Face=Kiss

@AmithKK face + face == standing too close to mirror.

@rlemon Yea, you can forget that one. It just doesn't work. Tried it already.

face + someone elses face == kiss || lawsuit
