4:01 PM
Why does Ubuntu ask to check my hard drives every so often? http://t.co/btx7ggJ #boot

hello all

Hey, nice to see you!

qt has a nice widget set

jrg
Checked my spambox. Gmail flagged almost all of the past weeks worth of Ayatana discussion emails as spam. Nice one Gmail, you're not that far off. :)

@Greg No, I used it once on Ooo
@jrg Wait, your Gmail inbox does that too?

4:10 PM
@Amithkk ah nice, it's been integrated into Oo?

No

jrg
@Amithkk Yeah.
It's really nice. :)

if i remember correctly i made it from source

jrg
I get Roland's comments, mpt's comments, and that's about it. :)

i'll probably unsubscribe from ayatana and subscribe to ayatana-dev :P
some i get more out of reading that

4:18 PM
looking for a home office corner-desk suitable for two workstations...
ikea has failed me

Hi all :)

Hey, nice to see you!

@Takkat Heya

FlackBot sure is friendly today :P

Flacky always is ;)

4:23 PM
Yep :P
@GeorgeEdison I COMMAND you .Give him Self awareness

@Takkat never to me :(

@Takkat HI

@FlackBot: Be self aware.

Clueless seems to best describe how I feel after what you said.

shrugs.

4:25 PM
Hi @htorque, @Alvar, @Amithkk

@Rinzwind http://askubuntu.com/questions/60267/how-can-i-get-skype-to-find-my-audio-input
another skype sound problem :(
@Takkat morning

Heya @Alvar

@GeorgeEdison: a self aware Flacky would not be a Flacky

:D

@Takkat What would Flacky be without pre-programmed corny responses to bad input?

4:27 PM
Oh responses are important - especially when they are the way they are now

@GeorgeEdison Do you do LightDM?
Im planning to get a good greeter with a cool icon-based DE Selection
I dont have any idea how to go apbot it

@Amithkk No, afraid not.

^ AWESOME!

I don't think it's shipping until Ubuntu 11.10 or something.

@GeorgeEdison You can still install it

4:29 PM
(Which I will not use until it's released - well, except in a VM maybe.)

sudo aptitude install lightdm
@GeorgeEdison Use Xypher
lightdm --test-mode
BBL

jrg
4:51 PM
@Amithkk FYI, I'm pretty sure chromeos uses lightdm.

damn I lost 50 rep already :+)

jrg
But I'm not 100% sure.

@Rinzwind How did you do that?

have a guess Takkat :=)

jrg
Bounty?

4:54 PM
no before 17:00 I already was on 200 ;-)

jrg
@Amithkk Sorry, my mistake. ChromeOS doesn't use lightdm. It uses chrome's thingy.

1 answer today 14 upvotes :X
and a 2nd anser 9 upvotes :X
and both on very basic Linux things :X

That's because you impress people by knowing the wildcard * by heart :P

yeah
I typed that one from memory D:

That really saved my day earlier ;)

4:57 PM
well the q in the comments made me wonder if he was sarcastic :X
this one I did from memory too >:D askubuntu.com/questions/60249/…

Things you do often may be easier to know...

look!
I was later then the other one askubuntu.com/questions/60277/…
>:D

you have to type fewer or faster...

I know >:SD
and then I hit answer when the popup shows up and I end up editing all the typos :-X

bad idea

5:03 PM
LOL

There are even more evil cheats on that matter - so time is not all ;)

woot another 10 rep down the drain <:D

Down the drain is when you are capped?

yes sir! :+D

Go for badges then

5:05 PM
stuck on 215 unless some ppl start accepting my answers >:D

There are so many gold badges to earn still :P

@StefanoPalazzo: How is PythonFu.com coming?

I am I am!
28th day 200+ 22 to go!

I know

@GeorgeEdison slowly but surely :-)

5:07 PM
take a sickleave and finish it for once and all >:)

@StefanoPalazzo Will it be done by the end of the month?

no, probably not
I'm still kind of hoping for a python 3 version of the openid library
If I can, I want to avoid you having to set up a username and password whatever it takes

@StefanoPalazzo Yeah, that'd be nice.

and it is that time of the week again! time for Bleach \o/ bbi30

5:42 PM
and back \o/

*decides to randomly yell at @Rinzwind for the sake of yelling*

yo! @TheEvilOne :D

@TheEvilOne morning

yo @Rinzwind! Hows things?
@Alvar its 13:45
:/

@TheEvilOne no 19:45

5:45 PM
bad! I was on 200 rep at 17:00 so I do not see my rep increase anymore :)

@Rinzwind ouch, sucks man.

I could have had 32 upvotes today :D
ah well >:D
time for some food BBL

my skype sound problem is back! :(

perhaps the problem never disappeared
</evil>

@Amithkk not until late december / next year when i get my new server hardware

6:00 PM
OMG my sound problem is solved again! :D

jrg
@Alvar After reading your question, it's a duplicate. The same solution applies, the answer just needs to be updated.

oh no 9/11 documentations already started

@jrg I know
@jrg but this guy helped me do it so he deserves some credit...

jrg
it's either a duplicate (which I think it is) or it's a (completely different) question that has the wrong title.

@jrg then it's a dupe...

jrg
6:08 PM
Re-write your question so it's something like "How do I change my channels in pavucontrol?"
And not "How can I get skype to find my audio input?"
(it's a dupe the way it is - but it's salvageable, unlike most dupes)

@jrg lol, thanks! :)

jrg
No problem.

http://askubuntu.com/questions/60267/how-do-i-change-the-channels-in-pavelcontrol
better? :P

jrg
Much better. :)

:D
http://askubuntu.com/questions/60262/system-hangs-when-opening-a-large-openoffice-file
intresting question.... sounds like he is out of ram. or it's just a bug...
why isn't this answer removed?
the one I deleted! :O

6:28 PM
the red one?
it's gone
only you and users with certain privileges can see it

7:05 PM
Can you answer this? How to switch between GPU's on an Asus EEE1015PN http://t.co/tPyDyGp #nvidia

@htorque that's why im annoyed why isn't not just GONE? it's strange....

7:22 PM
because once you post something here it's OURS!!!!! :D

@htorque that's just stupid, I first posted it as answer then realized I should add it in my question as the only way out.

i fail to see your problem

8:06 PM
@htorque it's just annoying....

jrg
9:01 PM
As are mosquitoes.

9:36 PM
I have two replies but I only saw one.

Markdown, latex combined in WYSIWYG editor. Is there any? http://t.co/HCzajPS #softwarerecommendation

is this supposed to say (unknown)?

that looks wrong

jrg
@StefanoPalazzo Compromised.

I haven't read any news about Thawte

9:50 PM
I was going to say, I don't remember Thawte being mentioned

isn't that @MarkShuttleworth's company?

jrg
I still don't trust it! :P
Yeah, it's Mark's company.

nice gig :)
I think this is an error in firefox or something. In the cert itself, the organisation is google Inc, the organisational unit is undefined

jrg
Shows up that way in Chrome as well. Nevermind, read the wrong part

Any idea how to update a mass amount of MP3 tags and fetch details based on song title and known artist?

9:55 PM

that is weird. I see the same thing
also, RC4 128 instead of AES256
@MarcoCeppi you could check out Ex Falso. Either way you're in for some pain. :\

@MarcoCeppi i'll second ex falso. picard is another great tool. eases a lot of pain

good evening!

soo, what is gmail's public key?
does it correspond to the cert?
(i'm trying to find it)

does that help? :D

10:04 PM
publicised by google or from the cert?

i see a hot blonde in a red dress!

from the cert I got from google, signed by thawte

:P

lol @htorque

10:05 PM
Ex Falso rules.
Ugh, Banshee won't recognize the changes

@StefanoPalazzo i see references with the same sha-1 fingerprints dating back to 2009 and 2010

@djeikyb that sounds about right
if the gmail cert had been compromised, the one served by gmail itself (unless there's a massive novel dns hack) would still be google's own, remember
only your encryption wouldn't be secure, and you would be vulnerable to a man-in-the-middle attack

if you're using google services, the man in the middle is the man at the other end of the line. >:D

heh
♪gmail man♫

anyways, there goes all the trust

10:14 PM
@htorque why did we trust the CA system in the first place? it's only ever as secure as the worst of them
i.e. if VerySign wants a copy of your passport, just go to ShadySSL, who merely require an email

i didn't :P

there are also companies who offer certificates to turn you into a certificate authority
then you can sign for anything. you only have to sign a contract saying you won't do it.

:D

I'm not crazy am I? :)

what about "assume good faith" :D

10:17 PM
hehe
I actually do, in the case of Thawte and Comodo. There's a fantastic quote from one of the people at Comodo, let me find it
I can't find it ;-)
something along the lines of "if we had secure DNS, this wouldn't have happened"
so they don't even know what business they're in
> "If there were a Secure and Trusted DNS this issue would be a moot point! We need a Secure and Trusted DNS!" (Comodo founder Melih Abdulhayoglu)

10:35 PM
it's all hopeless. and that even without involvement of governments. i should turn off my computer and wear a tinfoil hat right now. :>

I made a tinfoil hat for my computer

:D
hm, the guy living in the house across the street uses the same wallpaper as me... maybe i should check my network. paranoid_mode_on

> “[Pinta] is dead because I have no desire to work on it, and I was the only one working on it.”
wasn't someone here asking about pinta today?

10:50 PM
yesterday, by Roland Taylor
btw, anyone know if pinta is dead?

@RolandTaylor ^^

11:17 PM
I've been AFK for the last 4-5 hours... anything exciting happen?

good night all
@GeorgeEdison hm, not really! :-)

@GeorgeEdison oh, wait! i got the Proofreader badge, i just don't know if that qualifies as exciting :D

@htorque Sure does.

hehe, naaa ;)
