Any nameserver. ZoneEdit.com is a good free one if you don't have one of your own (or one with your registrar or host - who do commonly provide a nameserver service)

I'd recommend not running your own nameserver on your own server because if it goes down, everything can be down for hours.

Most nameserver services have redundant servers (eg ns1.linode.com, ns2.linode.com, ns3... etc)

I haven't had the best experience with my dyndns provider either (freedns), but at list their updating method is absolute brilliant

you just open up a url, containing a hash of your username and password. that's it
