Hi all, I have a question about audio import settings.
According to what I read, it's obvious that Compressed In Memory / Vorbis is the best set for music files. On the other hand, I don't know what to do with all the other sounds. These sounds are lines of dialogue and they all last between 1 and 3 seconds. There is never an audio that I need to play twice, because they are all part of dialogues. Moreover, I wanted to optimize the game for my pc (because I need to record a gameplay of the game on my pc, then the frame rate must be as high as possible). Here are the main specs:

@Curio Couple other things that come to mind:
- what's the size of the sounds (MB)?
- are you playing multiple sounds simultaneously?
Without profiling, it's tough to say where the problems are but as mentioned here CPU, RAM & disk are all in tension. Overtaxing any of them could lead to performance problems.
That link also has some suggest starting points for setting for different sounds. You could try adjusting one sound 'type' at a time & see if things improve. But I a big believer in profiling to identify bottlenecks. It's easy to fall into checking just one more hunch when trying to improve performance & that strategy is rarely as productive as measuring.

Is there any meaningful difference between the and tags? (Might post on Meta, just wanted to get an informal check first in case I'm missing something obvious)

@DMGregory I don't think so; a question could be also tagged with 2d or 3d if a distinction is required ..
I'll cobble together a Meta post proposing to merge them later this week, unless anyone else would like to beat me to it. 😁

@Curio Do not fix any kind of performance problem without a profiler telling you what's wrong. I hunted for a sound problem in Cognizer. Turns out I hooked up the sound the same time I hooked up the score display. It was the text object hitching when changing its text.
That was a bug in the iOS version of the Unity text object.
