(the camera's orthographic size is close to zero, which corrupts all UI)
Can we make a feature out of this bug?
BTW, setting it to negative flips the world and corrupts only text, making it somewhat bold.
I have an idea for a boss level.

@trollingchar That's weird, shouldn't the UI be independent of the camera's orthographic size?
trollingchar
It should. Probably.
TomTsagk
I thought the UI is dependant more on the window size than the camera itself
trollingchar
I guess that Unity is made entirely of bugs. We don't see individual bugs because they blend into the crowd. Like subpixels on the screen.
TomTsagk
10:46 AM
:P
Is your game going to include bosses then?
nwp
Only the glitch gremlin.
trollingchar
In singleplayer, there will be bosses and boss squads
but multiplayer has higher priority
nwp
The UI is the boss.
TomTsagk
@nwp sounds like a fun idea :P
nwp
People tend to hate it when the camera is the enemy.
trollingchar
10:50 AM
what if I encode UI in HTML and then parse it by regex?
nwp
Don't summon Cthulhu IRL.
trollingchar
)))
TomTsagk
You reminded me the guy that tried to make an OS using html
trollingchar
where can I download it?
TomTsagk
He made a reddit post with all these details how the whole UI would be through html, and how customisable it would be
I saw the post some years ago, hopefully he realised his mistake and moved on
Maybe he made some desktop environment in html which would be cool
nwp
10:56 AM
@trollingchar You can't.
You use it from a browser
, obviously.
It's cheating though, it's JS and not HTML. Still pretty cool.
trollingchar
yes it is

TomTsagk
4:34 PM
Does anyone know which is the easier 3d file format to parse that includes animations? :P
trollingchar
unfortunately, I only worked with 2d
TomTsagk
Ah :/
Are you using sprite-animations on your game?
trollingchar
sprites and transformations or their parts
TomTsagk
Are you storing the transformations in a file? or using Unity's animator?
Vaillancourt
I dunno; we animate parts with physics.
TomTsagk
4:44 PM
with physics? something like ragdoll animations?
Vaillancourt
No, we only animate trucks, tractors and similar heavy equipment. Everything is attached via hinge and slider joints.
TomTsagk
Aah makes sense
Vaillancourt
We could make them explode, at some point, but that would be too much fun for our target audience.
TomTsagk
too much fun? What is the target audience if you don't mind me asking :P
Vaillancourt
Some of our clients are schools :P
trollingchar
4:52 PM
make an easter egg and if someone finds it say that it's a bug
with explosions!
Vaillancourt
That would be funny.
trollingchar
of course!
Vaillancourt
In each scene, there is an egg. If you manage to touch it, your machine explodes!
TomTsagk
sounds like a plan! :P
Vaillancourt
I don't think I'd be able to add it subtly.
TomTsagk
4:54 PM
Just add some random numbers floating together with the explosion, to make it look more bug-like
Vaillancourt
Hmm, we don't have a feature to display text in the scene.
trollingchar
@TomTsagk they must be red to clearly indicate that it's a bug. Features have green and cyan numbers.
TomTsagk
Maybe an actual bug then?
2 hours later…

6:43 PM
ohh it lost it's caption :[
"This sauce has no texture"
Vaillancourt
:P
Almo
7:21 PM
@AGirlHasNoName haha good one
