user92578
3:00 PM
nope

What do you mean "nope"
I got banned for an hour for saying "sodom"

World's most secure password: mostsecure.pw

user92578
@ShaunWild because that's totally the same thing

@PearsonArtPhoto this is hilarious

"Retarded" is a rude and offensive word. "Sodom" is just a rude noun.
@PearsonArtPhoto Does that show the same password for everyone?

3:06 PM
@ShaunWild Yes. It's the world's most secure password. Why would they want to show a less secure one?

@doppelgreener, that's genius, I'm going to use it for everything.

me too

user92578
yeah why would anyone use anything else

H4!b5at+kWls-8yh4Guq
If that's what you see...

user92578
it's interesting though

user92578
3:18 PM
Why is 8 safer than a 9?

It's not

because you need more ink to write 8 than 9

AHHHHH
curio.setBlind(false);

eheheh

anybody here?
I need help with glfw

3:21 PM
Shoot

I'm here but I can't help with that :(

It is a microsoft visual c++ runtime failure

nope I'm out
@Tyyppi_77 ENTER

user92578
I can try

Thank you never mind @ShaunWild
@Tyyppi_77
ok

user92578
3:22 PM
thanks for the unnecessary ping

Hahahaha

see what happens is that something calls the sqrt function with the float value 2.23332447e-38
Actually any value with e-38 or e-39

user92578
and that's not something that you expect to happen? looks like an object goes corrupt to me

user92578
ie the float value actually points to garbage

It happens whenever I press the start button while in full screen mode
so e-38 is garbage?

user92578
3:24 PM
not necessarily but quite likely

user92578
I'd need to see some code to be able to actually help

user92578
e-38 means 10 to the -38 IIRc

user92578
so that's a really small number

The exception is thrown in math.h _Check_return_ __inline float __CRTDECL sqrtf(_In_ float _X)
{
return (float)sqrt(_X);
}
at return

user92578
Yeah that's not the useful piece of code

user92578
3:26 PM
I need to see your code, not a part of the MSVC backend

The problem is, the only stack I have got is that and something in a DLL

user92578
But is this your code? Are you running inside a debugger?

An MSVC dll I suppose
I was running inside a debugger when I started seeing the rror
I have NO IDEA where the sqrt method is called from

user92578
What is the actual DLL that errors?

Oh no wait
ucrtbased.dll
That is just the top of the stack
That is not what errors

3:28 PM
You want the bottom of the stack

user92578
Can you share a screenshot of the whole stack window?

The breakpoint is in math.h

Your code will be lower down

Exactly
The bottom of the stack is just <external code>

Send the full stack trace
Make sure you click "Fixed Font"
before pressing send

user92578
3:29 PM
The whole rest of the stack?

As in a picture of it?

user92578
A picture is okay, Shaun is talking about sharing the stack in text

user92578
Which is okay too, whatever is the easiest for you.

Either way is fine
As long as we can see both

Ok then, where is fixed font?

3:30 PM
A button appears, when you paste it in

user92578
You have it in text?

Next to send

I guess I could paste the text just fine
 	ucrtbased.dll!53038500()	Unknown
 	[Frames below may be incorrect and/or missing, no symbols loaded for ucrtbased.dll]
 	[External Code]
>	playground.exe!sqrtf(float _X) Line 746	C++
 	[External Code]
This is it exactly

user92578
And just to confirm: this is when running in Debug?

Yes
There is an abort
I click retry

user92578
3:33 PM
What thread is this? Is this your main thread?

Then I get this
I am not multithreading (atleast in my knowledge). GLFW could be although I don't think so.
I have not created any threads
myself

user92578
Yeah, that's why I want you to check which thread causes this.

user92578
Do you have debug symbols for GLFW?

Oh snap

user92578
My guess is that GLFW is doing something odd, and you don't have symbols for it.

3:35 PM
Would you rather tell me what a debug symbol is or should I google it?

user92578
It contains the information about the source code (methods, classes and such) about a binary, a DLL for an example in this case

Would you wait? Or do you have something important to take care of?

user92578
huh? I can maybe chat for about 20 minutes or so

Oh ok that should be enough. Thanks again

user92578
GLFW seems to ship with debug symbols

3:37 PM
I guess yeah
Do you want an inl file or something?
There is an output file in the console window
of glm
it is called matrix_transform.hpp

user92578
what? can you share a screenshot of your visual studio window at crash?

user92578
I have no idea what you were talking about just now

Can I just write the line?

user92578
sure

user92578
what does your lib folder look like, or whatever folder contains your dlls and lib files?

3:41 PM
Assertion failed: abs(aspect - std::numeric_limits<T>::epsilon()) > static_cast<T>(0), file .....glm/gtc/matrix_transform.inl, line 236

user92578
hmm. is the crash on the main thread?

Oh, I downloaded the source code from this tutorial opengl-tutorial.org/download
Is there anywhere I can check that?
Oh yeah it is the main thread

user92578
it's the Threads-tab

Saw it

user92578
the main thread is what crashes with the non-helpful callstack?

3:43 PM
yeah
with the message in the console window
This is line number 236 in matrix_transform.inl assert(abs(aspect - std::numeric_limits<T>::epsilon()) > static_cast<T>(0));
Ok it looks like there is something wrong when I call glm::perspective

user92578
yes, aspect is zero

aspect?
Let me check the method call

user92578
it's the second parameter to perspective

GOT it!!

user92578
so I guess the assert is just throwing you a weird error

3:48 PM
See when the start button is clicked
or the button is pressed
The full screen width goes 0
Anything I could do to avoid that?
I guess just put width = 0
I mean not allow it

user92578
yeah, you can either not call the method or set a minimum to the width

user92578
width = std::max(width, something_positive);

I would rather not call the method

user92578
yeah that's totally fine

YEAH No error! :D Thank you so much!

user92578
3:51 PM
I think you did most of the work but I was happy to be your rubber duck

Haha it is good to have a comapnion on board who listens to you!
I was freaking out lol

user92578
yeah absolutely

You kinda helped me cool down. Thanks

user92578
no problem

DH.
4:34 PM
I thought the whole point of swearing was to not offend anyone, but OK if I can't not even insult the universe

DH.
Got 1h kick for using a certain offensive word

4:52 PM
Hm. I just checked that, and it looked like someone chose to act on the flag that was raised about that post. I chose not to, myself.
In general the Be Nice policy and the forbiddance of swear words isn't just about not offending individuals, it's about not alienating users. Beyond that minimum bar, avoiding them can be part of creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere people want to engage in. Swearing reduces the feeling of safety, increases tension, and can make people decide they'd rather not be here; since swearing's avoidable and it's preferable we avoid those effects of it, it's preferable to avoid swearing as well.
On RPG.SE we've cultivated a healthy and thriving chat community through committing to the idea of not using swear words, among some other practices.
I haven't considered that word too offensive, but when I've used it, I've been surprised to find people react by asking me to never use it as a swear.

5:18 PM
Hello people.

hi

So how is it going?

Really Curio

I'm going home, which is a great way for things to be going. \o/

5:31 PM
@doppelgreener Good for you! I have finished my national exams for college 2 days ago. So things are great for me as well. :)

I'm really angryyyyyyyyyyyy

Why is that?

MainActivity==null

Is that supposed to be a joke, or an actual problem you are facing?

Before it worked and now not!
Actual problem

5:34 PM
Try asking a question about it.

Could you help me here?
It's quite simple
In rigioca method I have this:
 SharedPreferences sharedPref = getActivity().getPreferences(Context.MODE_PRIVATE);
        editor = sharedPref.edit();
        editor.putInt("High Score",highScore);
        editor.commit();
But getActivity() is always null
I tried with a variable, an application class, all!
But it's null :'(

I don't have experience on this topic. Sorry buddy.

:(
In Firebase?

I never used libgdx.

I need Kevin

5:57 PM
@S.TarıkÇetin Congratulations!

1 hour later…
7:16 PM
@doppelgreener Thanks!

2 hours later…
9:25 PM
A guy just said this:
"What do you cal 8 hobbits?" - "hobbyte"
8

LOL

That's better

double lol

10:02 PM
