Q: Is that END OF Lucius Fox in Justice League?

skadooshI really love Lucius Fox, which makes me to raise this question. Will we ever be seeing Lucius Fox in Batman movies especially in Justice League?. In Batman vs Superman I did not hear a word which sounds like "Lucius Fox" :). And Alfred is messing around with Batman gears(toys). Is this the end...

Q: Explanation of Bruce/Batman's nightmares?

skadooshIn Batman vs Superman - Dawn of Justice movie, Batman/Bruce is having nightmares. I do not understand that, what are those nightmares all about? Who is this guy?

6:26 AM
@KutuluMike I am ignoring it from existence

7:23 AM
@KutuluMike Loads of people write for it, and their are considered "valid" enough to have their reviews counted on Rotten Tomatoes. Don't get me wrong, it's still just basically a film site. But it's a good one.

> Online critics must have published no less than 100 reviews across two calendar years at a single, Tomatometer-approved publication, and all reviews should have an average length of at least 300 words to be considered for individual approval.
you have to be prolific, not necessarily good.

@phantom42 It's the "Tomatometer approved publication" that is more stringent.
"Online publications must achieve and maintain a minimum 500,000 unique monthly visitors according to comScore, Inc or Nielsen Net Ratings and reviews must have an average length of at least 300 words. Publications must also show a consistent standard of professionalism, writing quality, and editorial integrity across all reviews and articles. Lastly, site design and layout should also reflect a reasonable level of quality and must have a domain name specific to the property."

the visitor count is the only thing there that's hard

@phantom42 "Publications must also show a consistent standard of professionalism, writing quality, and editorial integrity across all reviews and articles."

that's awfully subjective though
they have mainstream newspapers in there that have shit integrity as well
and actually....

@phantom42 True. My point here is more that regardless of a few scoops that have been denied in recent months (and it's not like film-makers don't ever deny scoops that end up being true, by the way), Birth.Movies.Death has a great reputation.

11:03 AM
> Birth.Movies.Death. is not a Tomatometer-approved publication. Reviews from this publication only count toward the Tomatometer when written by the following Tomatometer-approved critic(s): Meredith Borders , Devin Faraci , Todd Gilchrist , Jordan Hoffman , Amy Nicholson , James Rocchi
so they have people on staff that are approved, but the site is not

@phantom42 I didn't know that.

FWIW: i have no particular issue with BMD in specific. my issue is with bloggers and news sites in general.

It'd be fun to be a Tomatometer approved critic.
@phantom42 Well, like I say about critics, it's worth finding a publication you think you can trust. Aggregation doesn't mean dick.
I have several sites I go to for news/reviews, for different reasons usually.
Oh, just remembered something about Birth.Movies.Death which supports my faith in them. Do you remember a few months ago, when Den of Geek reported that Marvel Studios may have gotten the right to the Fantastic Four back in exchange for them allowing an X-Men TV show to happen?
Well Birth.Movies.Death were one of the only sites not to run with that rumour, because they didn't believe it.

11:51 AM
It looks like Devin got his tomatometer approval from writing for Empire Magazine.

I had no idea he'd ever written for Empire.

12:11 PM
stan lee's website is so worthless
headline: "which marvel character do fans want to see in a standalone? the answer may surprise you"
come on.. take a guess.
you'll be shocked.
because people haven't been demanding it for years.
sit down.. because it's going to floor you.
black widow with 48% of the votes.

@phantom42 yah I mentioned that yesterday, cleverly disguised as a joke.

so clever

it wasn't even close.
i think the next highest voted answer had like 15%

does she want a solo film?

I doubt she'd say no to it.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

12:20 PM
shes starting to look old
she looked really bad in winter soldier
looked a little better in age of ultron

@Himarm confirmed for blind person.
I think the bigger problem Marvel Studios may have in making a Black Widow film at this point is making it relevant. It can't really be involved with the Infinity Stones, because that would be ridiculous, and she doesn't really have any villains specific to her that they can use.
Which means it would end up being a really, really standalone film, and I'm not sure Marvel Studios want that now.
That being said, the place where she ends up after Captain America: Civil War could be interesting motivation for a solo film.

12:53 PM
they could try a prequel.
i'm sure they could figure out a way to tie it in to the end of Civil War (which I haven't seen yet), then do an origin-story type thing, then jump forward again and tie it in with the next movie.

1:06 PM
@KutuluMike A surprise Phase 3 Black Widow film could work gangbusters, now I think about it. It wouldn't need to be an origin or a prequel.
Hurry up and get to May 6th, already!

@KutuluMike i was bitching more about stan lee's site than anything else
they've done two entire seasons for agent carter, a character that is just a supporting role in the comics. i think they can come up with something to fill a 2 hour black widow movie.

@phantom42 That's... a damn good point, actually.

i figured it would be like her as a russian spy, ending up being saved by fury or somthing

@Himarm That'd be awful. Prequels never work.

captain america was essentially a prequel

1:14 PM
@Himarm What?

were talking the same thing here, an origin story
happened in the past

temple of doom is a prequel

has 1 min in the present

Definition of prequel: "a story or film containing events which precede those of an existing work"

cap precedes iron man

1:15 PM
captain america contained tons of events that preceded the rest of marvel cinematic universe

so, universe-wide, it was a prequel

so its a prequel

but it was the first cap movie.

she hasnt had a movie yet

@phantom42 That's one of the very few exceptions to the rule. The other is X-Men: First Class, and that erased the later films from continuity anyway, so...
There isn't a world in which I would class Captain America: The First Avenger as a prequel.

1:17 PM
shes in the same boat as cap, she can have an origin story thats not a prequel
she just happened to have cameos in other peoples movies
unlike cap

Black Widow has had character arcs in these films already though. Setting a film of hers before those occur involves taking her back to a point before that development; she'd be boring again.

but we like heartless assasin women, killers it hot leather outfits
she doesnt need to do anything other then kill

That sounds really interesting.
I'm engaged by the story you are proposing.
At the end of the day, the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far has been driven by character; we like these characters and we like seeing them develop and react to a constantly shifting universe. A Black Widow prequel goes against that, in a big way.

i'd love a side story about how widow doing some deep cover black ops mission that basically supports some larger SHIELD/avengers storyline. we have stories like that in the comics all the time

she could go find the hulk before infinity stone
since he ran off

1:22 PM
@Himarm He's in space, best of luck but I don't think she'd succeed.

whys he i nspace
when did that happen

"here's widow doing this mission that has a tangential/side effect on the MCU"

@Himarm No one really knows, but he's confirmed to be an important part of Thor: Ragnarok.

"here's widow infiltrating the 10 rings to get plans for a weapon the avengers can use to fight thanos"

@phantom42 There really isn't room for that based on where she ends up post-Captain America: Civil War.

1:24 PM
@DrRDizzle that doesnt mean hes in space yet does it?

details schmetails
i'm just spitballing
black widow goes to planet hulk to sing him a lullabye

@Himarm Maybe, maybe not. It's worth nothing that a full year after he first went missing, no-one has found him. That implies he's off planet to me.

well, he's supposedly showing up in thor ragnarok, so off-planet makes sense
even if joss wasn't allowed to imply it

i mean he needs someone to take him off world
if hes headed to azguard thats gana take thor or someone else

because we don't have aliens constantly coming and going from earth

1:26 PM
not in the main universe
in the side one we do tv

bifrost is up and running again
yondu and the ravagers

Also, the last time we saw Hulk was in a Quinjet that entered stealth mode. There's no reason that he couldn't have just kept going up.

dark elves

the quinjet cant get the azgard!

theres photos to imply that GotG2 may partly take place on earth

1:28 PM
afaik stark doesnt have FTL

@Himarm I never said he went all the way to Asgard. He could be on the moon, or Mars, or even further by now.
@phantom42 Most people are thinking that may be a post-credits scene of some kind.

i know that's why i almost didnt mention it
but it's unclear

anyway, someone is going to have to pick him up

point is there's coming and going from earth

most likely thor will have heimdiggle or whatever his name is find him, and beem him up, thats my bet
for now i assume hes chilling on a tropical island
slurping some rum and cokes

1:31 PM
Even the first film chronologically had something traveling between Earth and... somewhere else. Captain America: The First Avenger seems to imply that the Tesseract didn't kill the Red Skull, it merely sent him somewhere.

other then gardians weve only seen space travel via azgard tech

@Himarm The Chitauri can clearly travel through space, from Avengers Assemble.
Space travel can be caused by the Convergence, in Thor: The Dark World.
Loki says that there are many secret passages between worlds.

thats a better possiblity, hulk fell through a hole

Or he just jumped to Pluto.

Warlock is in it? They're not letting Michael Bay anywhere near it, are they?

i was never really a fan of him or wolfsbane
or.. rahne-friend
anyone see any of his other work?
i think he's a relatively new director and his big credit is a chick flick

that movie made me cry
its like things are looking up? crushing despair
but i duno how much that was him, or just the story was so dam depressing

@phantom42 I've never heard of these mutants, are they new?

2:46 PM
they need to be modernized. they'll be nu-mutants
or nü-mutants

Q: Do current users want to re-visit older site policies?

HimarmWe have many old meta questions that restrict, corral, or allow content on this site. Things like spy-fi, whats on or off topic, fan-fics, ect. Many of these policies were made and voted on before the vast majority of our current user base joined(back in 2011), by users/mod's who no longer exist...

the downvotes have arrived
i figured some of you might like this, maybe get spy-fi on topic

Q: This site is doomed and will curl up and die -- the sunshine-and-hope thread

neilfeinLet's try something else. Amidst all the doom and gloom here in meta, I'd like to point out the few rays of hope for this site: We have users who care passionately about the topic and know a lot about it. There's a lot of activity in meta, particularly for a young site. I don't have numbers ...

^-- 2011

my problem with the spy-fi ruling is that it's directly at odds with EVERY OTHER policy we have
i love that asking this is as a starting point for whether or not action should be taken at all is too broad, but things like voting polls for best tv shows are totally cool

just god forbid don't try to delete a question you asked.

hell, even our kick-off points for tagging were fine

your inbox will never hear the end of it
apparently the new meta policy is to respond to every question with an answer that tells you to ask another question.

3:19 PM
i'm done trying to sway policy for the foreseeable future

they told me that
there like your stupid

who told you what?

what mike said
in chat there ragging me too

yeah, I know, that's why I said it.
you have literally no idea how hard it is for me to avoid starting sentences with "if only..."

they were arguing if fan-fics should be on topic all morning, so i suggest asking a meta post, and there like itll be closed as a dupe, and im like not if rand keeps it open to get current users opinions, and he just answered my broad question with, just ask the specific question in meta and let it get duped >.>

3:25 PM
fanfics were deemed on-topic long ago
what's the problem with them?

slytherinses doesn't like them, and neither did anyone else in chat

so put them on ignore.
i don't like star-trek or harry-potter. (not the works.. the god-awful crap questions we get.)

as long as people don't try to answer canon questions with fanfic, i don't see the issue

it got around to the nolan verse

some people love HP:MoR

3:27 PM
most of the harry potter fan fics i guess arnt actually fantasy, they are fiction with harry potter characters

and where do you draw the line on the definition of fanfic?

thats the other debate

all legends material is arguably fanfic

thats what napoelon said
lol

BTW: I don't care what you say, the Nolanverse Batmobile and Scarecrow drugs are science fiction enough.

3:29 PM
gilles measure was fine
"does it appeal to sf/f fans? chances are it's on topic"

frankly, as long as Watership Down stays off topic, all other questions are relevant
@phantom42 well... pro wrestling appeals to a lot of sf/f fans, I wouldn't call that on topic :)
though Lucha Underground does have vampires.

it could be on topic

no, those are syfy fans

its all fake
lol

yeah, tell that to the guy who almost killed himself on sunday.

3:31 PM
he believed it was too fake
lol

somehow pro wrestling gets more mainstream coverage now than it did 25 years ago when it still pretended to be real.

because of ollie

I think more likely because of Brock Lesnar

(i have no idea. i just know amell is on wrestling sometimes)

the MMA/wrestling crossover has gotten a lot of sports media to talk about wrestling

3:33 PM
it got pretty popular when the rock and stone cold were in it still

ESPN and Fox Sports both have wrestling sections. I think ESPN2 even shows it on TV

the whole rock going movies got alot of people into it

Q: Why doesn't anyone find out the masked man identity in the flash

krimogAs far as we know, no one (except Zoom) knows the identity of the masked man, even if many characters spent time in the prison with him. He can't talk, agreed. Yet he can hear and see, and can make noise by hitting the glass and make signs with his hand. It shouldn't be difficult to communicate...

why am i stuck explaining javascript callbacks to a webdev of 18+ years?

hes drunk
?

@phantom42 Because he learned http 1.0 18 years ago and didn't stay current?

i'm going to regret it, but i defended your question, @himarm

woo!

4:21 PM
> In short: yes, feel free to propose changes to specific existing policies (although nobody can guarantee how these proposals will be received).
^-- plus no one actually pays attention to any of them anyway.

@KutuluMike this is why i think the question is largely unnecessary, but i get it. in the past, i've opened a new question and said, "this is evidence that the community no longer agrees with the policy.. should we change it?"
i think that works best (no way really works well)

4:59 PM
And someone need 100s of upvote fro mentioning that ;D

did you link that to the wrong question?

ooops

Q: Puzzling Design Pitch - Congratulations, you're graduating!

StéphaneI'm Stéphane, a senior product designer at Stack Exchange. First, I wanted to announce that this site is now starting the process of moving out of beta to become a fully-graduated site! Congratulations! Graduation and Your Site Design Graduation comes with a few perks, which should come out...

Not buying into the design
But anyway not into that site either

if it was an honor to be sent by hydra to be sacrificed to hive, why was will afraid of it?
and why didn't he seem to know anything about it?

That was a Nasa-ish mission though wasn't it?

Q: New Site Design!

StéphaneAs you can see the new design just went live. Congratulations! Thank you for your valuable design feedback. We have also themed the chat rooms and newsletter template for this site, and adjusted the privilege levels to higher thresholds. If you see any CSS/styling bugs, please start a new post ...

the color scheme is nice.
the logo, in the HNQ list, looks a whole lot like biology's.

Better on main than chat
And yeah, I think the icon looks like workplace
a bit lighter though

7:11 PM
wait.
did puzzling get their graduation redesign before PPCG?
poor PPCG. I saw on their meta that they met the graduation requirements for like 3 months before anyone at SE noticed.

Q: Are Will Daniels and Grant Ward Inhumans?

John DemetriouSince Hive can only take control of Inhumans brains was Will Daniels and Grant Ward inhumans since he took their body?

@JackBNimble sort of? the logo upside down was an old hydra one
the mission logo

But they sent a few guys through, it was a mission of exploration.

so they were sent by hydra, but not sent by hydra?

I don't know.
It didn't seem like your standard sacrificial mission though.

7:20 PM
it was not clear to me how many of those guys knew they were working for HYDRA
like, I'm not 100% clear if Will knew he was the bad guy or not

He clearly didn't know he was supposed to embrace the sand storm

@KutuluMike Worldbuilding also not much lucky

Kurtis BeaversI'm Kurtis, a product designer at Stack Exchange. First off, congratulations on your recent site graduation! Graduation and Your Site Design Graduation comes with a few perks. It will be launched soon. — Kurtis Beavers Apr 15 at 19:31

is this your first day on SE?
we were 6-8 weeks from our redesign for like a year

I know but from last year, people getting graduation after design post in less then month
SFF case is too old for considering as an example
Movies.se got design post in Jan 6 '15 and graduation in Jan 28'15 , even when there was some design changes too.

Everything on SE is 6-8 weeks out at all times until it's implemented yesterday.

we re-watched primer last night
i still don't totally get what the machine was supposed to do

Primer is the movie you watch before you watch the movie.
It was a magic box back to a fixed point in time when the machine was first turned on.

and watching it again, it seemed like the project was robert's idea, and then he's just never involved
it was his turn, and they're complaining about how he does everything the hard way
as they're building what turns out to be the box

The thing I don't understand is. If you are going to send tomorrow's big stock performers information back in time. Why do you physically have to do it? Why can't you just write it on a piece of paper and send that back in time everyday?
Then you don't have to hide in a stupid warehouse or hotel all day long afraid to run into your other self, and you don't get screwed over with transcription errors.
@phantom42 Right, they are building something they have no idea what it will do initially.
I've done that myself a lot. So far, 100% of the boxes don't seem to do much of anything.

given that they're so cost conscious, that seems dumb
"let's just manufacture this thing that we have no idea what its purpose will be"

And cannibalize the catalytic converter to do it!
Maybe they got the plans from Vega prime.

9:32 PM
well, that explains why they made two

I'm planning on someday replacing my 16 year-old-self Quantum Leap style.
When people ask me about my amazing ability to predict the future I'll just tell them "I'm from the future, and I came here in a time machine that you invented."

9:51 PM
@phantom42 As I understand it, the machine was supposed to somehow make heavy things lighter.

that was definitely the first use they observed

and they were doing it by somehow messing with its relativistic mass or something along those lines and they ended up figuring out how to detach it from spacetime entirely.

not sure if/how the conversation about the fridge fits in

I think a "machine" wasn't their goal; it was just their way of testing various technologies to change something's weight.
and they hoped to produce something they could minaturize or whatever.
or else, like set up a chamber inside the belly of a cargo plane
stuff like that

hm. that seems to largely fit what i remember

9:53 PM
hrm.
what was the conversation about the fridge?

early on the wife is about to eat ice out of the freezer and aaron is like 'no, don't do that' and they go on about making things colder

oh.
yeah I sortof remember that now, but I guess it never seemed to matter later on.
this one comment claims there are two different fridges.
the one at the beginning is brand new but the one at the end is not.
if that were true, the conversation at the beginning may just be hammering home the point that the fridge is brand new and needs breaking in but later on it's different so it's a new timeline?
i dunno

well, they cut copper pipe from one
i need to stop thinking about this movie
before i give myself a headache
topic shift: is there any advantage to choosing one wife over another in stardew valley?

this is the weirdest chat ive ever seen for a movie

@phantom42 a couple of them do interesting things.
but generally no, it's mostly cosmetic

9:59 PM
@Himarm i want to use the box to go back in time and be in the room for when someone pitches rubber to the studio
@KutuluMike did you get married yet?

no.
I'm working on Leah and Hayley

i'm leaning leah right now, but i've got abigail and penny pretty high too

@phantom42 I believe that certain wives will cook things, or give you things. AFAICT all of them will do chores
and they all add a room to your house
