Arrow stuff for tonight's ep:
Nice to see them not waste time on how to deal with Thea.
01:01
And they're going whole hog on the pit. Nice.
Well, that finally happened.
01:20
And Ollie gets another scar. Great.

11 hours later…
12:01
Age of Ultron! Wooooo
Has anyone else seen it?
Is it too soon to blog?
12:58
@Pureferret Maybe alexwlchan?
@Pureferret Depends on how spoileriffic you want to get. Some early reviews are starting to come out in general.
@Pureferret I will put you on permanent ignore
@Pureferret you should go answer that horrible "necessary to know before watching avengers 2" question.
13:39
perhaps my 40-year-old-geek prejudices are showing
but it seems like we've gotten an unusually high number of questions on the site from "girls who bought their boyfriends trade paperbacks" lately.
as in, > 0
I thought Black Canary was a meta human, how come Cisco needs to help her build an ultrasonic Canary Cry device?
@JackBNimble A metahuman in the comics, you mean?
Laurel is just an angsty sister that felt left out of all the vigilanteing.
@phantom42 I guess I would assume everywhere.
The only metahumans on Arrow have been crossovers with the Flash.
they finally had one on Arrow that was non-Central-City related.
original Black Canary was not superpowered.
New 52 Black Canary is a metahuman
neither Arrow Black Canary has been superpowered
13:57
oh, right. electical guy. i was thinking felicity was in town for that one.
I'm just thinking in the animated JLU she was meta.
And she was trained by Wild Cat
@phantom42 who is ingu?
@JackBNimble she has been a meta-human in the comics more than not, I think; her canary cry being a natural ability.
but Arrow didn't go full-mutant until S3
of course, now they've opened the floodgates
@phantom42 I was a bit surprised that they left it up to Arrow to reveal that metahumans existed before the STAR Labs accident, but I assume they're using that as an excuse to introduce more "comicky" stuff into Arrow
@AwalGarg Not sure if you have enough rep to see this, but Ingu Sharma asked a question "Will there ever be an end to Harry Potter questions on this site?"
the fact that he called them "7 children's books" is pretty clear evidence that he's completely unfamiliar with them in the first place.
IMO they stopped being "children's books" around #4
14:09
@phantom42 I dont have enough rep. Screenshot for me?
@phantom42 There will be math questions atleast. Because JKR.
Stay on topic before Keen gets angry.
isn't there a way to move this whole conversation over there --> ?
Harry Potter comics...
@MichaelEdenfield maybe a mod can
i'm the room owner, and i can't.
room owners can
14:13
no biggie, lets just go over there and start the whole conversation over :)
@phantom42 I think the physical attributes of this guy suggest that the Rebels will take just about any pilot they can find.
14:37
@phantom42 thanks for finally accepting my answer. (not sarcastic)
Whoops, I thought that question was a suggested order one. :3
@Keen which?
@phantom42 There's a recent AoU question about what you need to know before seeing the movie.
Super broad.
@Keen the "foreshadowing" one, or the one from last night?
the one from last night.
although... one possible good answer to that would be to see the 25-hour marathon.
that's everything you need to know to see AoU
except, I can't find any showtimes for it.
14:52
someone who has seen it could technically work backwards and provide an answer as far as what plot elements weren't explained well, but what people like us would probably consider "need to know" is probably different than what my mother would define
@MichaelEdenfield Pfft, and miss out on AoS and Agent Carter?!
@MichaelEdenfield amc in altamonte, starts at 6pm on the 29th
@phantom42 I can't find it on their web site?
> Sorry, but no showtimes were found on 4/29/2015
I'd guess he means the 30th.
I think the tickets may not be available yet but this page for me says "release date: april 29th. and lists the start times for each of the movies
14:55
I don't think it's starting 2 days in advance.
Oh the marathon? Ignore me.
no pricing yet either.. :(
it's gotta cost $100, they're apparently giving away swag to everyone that shows up.
i have a friend who swears they found pricing mentioned somewhere saying it was $60
i just bought my tickets for 7pm on thursday night at the theater downtown
hooray for reserved seats
I convinced my boss to take the entire dev team to AoU on the 5th.
@phantom42 >_> I bought mine over a month ago.
@JackBNimble Nice.
@Keen from one of the chains?
15:06
@phantom42 Via Fandango for an AMC theater.
i meant to look last week. most theaters make them available about 2 weeks out
@phantom42 For the huge tentpoles, they've been pushing that back by months. I wasn't even ordering as soon as they were available. They were available since at least the start of March.
@phantom42 link me? If you have it in hand I mean

Q: What is necessary to know before seeing The Avengers 2?

TaladrisImagine you completely ignored the previous movies of Marvel Cinematic Universe but you suddenly want to see The Avengers 2:Age of Ultron that was recently released. You also never read comic books in your life. What are the necessary informations you need to know before going to see the movie?...

@JackBNimble did you then him with the ol' 'you'll be dead to me routine '?
15:25
@Pureferret I did not. We have little team builder things, and I suggested this, and since 21 of the other devs agreed, it was done.
@Pureferret How was the movie?
@JackBNimble awesome
@Pureferret Care to write a review for the blog?
@phantom42 thanks but it's closed and needs fixing to open, and my answer will be almost exactly the same add the current top answer
@JackBNimble tempted to
@Pureferret I can offer an incentive. Like... prestige, or something...
I have an allergic reaction to blogging, bringing me out in writer's block'
15:34
@Pureferret well, it was open when i suggested it to you :p
@JackBNimble Make me immune to bring dead to you, and it's a deal
A non-monetary reward which has a theoretical monetary value. I value prestige at $10,000
@phantom42 never mind :-D
Whedon does a good job of covering any thing you need to know in the first few scenes
Some footage of Vision. Spread out throughout the interview.
10 s in there's a short bit. Around 5:00 in there's another. In the middle is a bunch of footage from the trailers.
I'm guessing people going into AoU without any prior MCU knowledge is pretty low.
15:38
@JackBNimble my guess is people bringing new partners
The people going to AoU have no one. NO ONE! They are desperately alone.
They should do a "previously in the MCU" montage at the start of every movie
@phantom42 IMO, more comic book films should use their opening sequences for that. Watchmen is a particularly great example. IIRC, The Incredible Hulk did something similar.
16:12
@Keen nah I'd rather it was subtly woven into the story
Show don't tell

2 hours later…
18:24
why is it, the first time anyone ends up in the Arrow Cave, they immediately prick their finger on an arrow
18:43
@MichaelEdenfield It is a like an old spinning wheel.

2 hours later…
20:32
MCU wikia seems to think matt and stick spent years training together. it would make sense, but young-matt doesnt really age.
I figured maybe 6 months to 1 year tops
yeah, that's about what i figured
realistically, shorter than makes sense, but with no indication of aging, i can't believe it'd be anything much longer than that.
