oh great.
Leah's talking about her ex.

1:30 AM
Fox needs to stop shoe-horning Mystique into every single X-Men movie. And if she does have to keep showing up, at least chose a cohesive characterization for her.

@phantom42 Ouch. I guess that means a bunch of people in my area are going to need jobs.

i mean tehy just wanted to show off jennifer lawrence
even if mystic sucks shes the single hottest actress to sell movies with right now
so it pays to include her

1 hour later…
2:41 AM
@KutuluMike weird. she talked to me about her ex before i got my sculpt. i think it was at like 3 or 4 hearts when she did
sculpt was at 6

Q: Which MCU movies should I see before watching Civil War?

TorisudaI'm interested to see Captain America: Civil War, but I haven't been keeping up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe very well. I've seen the first Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America films, half of the first Avengers when it was running on television, and Guardians of the Galaxy. From what I've ...

Q: Is there anyone who could fix what happened in Captain America: Civil War?

Mike.C.FordNear the end of Civil War, The post credits scene shows the extent of the damage. The Winter Soldier has been operating for decades, therefore the technology to build his arm has clearly been around for a while. However, seeing as the majority of HYDRA's operations have been taken down at th...

They are just using him for magic stuff in there TV shows

user116211
@AnkitSharma constantly using his name.

Yeah "using" him
And might include him in LoT but season 2, no news yet

user116211
Okay, I NEVER got one thing of LoT...

user116211
@AnkitSharma Telepathy! We are thinking about the same topic at the same time!!

don't worry. i have dizzle to think exactly opposite from me ;D

If Gideon can calculate everything and tell what is in the future, whether the timeline changed, why couldn't it tell that the Time-Masters are the villains?

Sounds NOT logical ;(

LoT have nothing to do with logic

user116211
hmm....

10:49 AM
@AnkitSharma which happened at the meeting - before the explosion which brought bucky into the picture. and, no, cap was never going to sign them. he opposed them from the very beginning. when wanda was brought up, it cemented that he wasn't going to sign them.

he picked the pen
So he started thinking about it but when Wanda was mentioned , he completely scrapped the idea

Again, before the UN explosion
@KutuluMike got my second silo. max went from 240 to 480.
cap picked up the pen as he tried to make a final decision. but he came into the room having already strongly opposed it. tony started to negotiate in the room and cap was hoping to come to a better agreement. that's when wanda came up, and cap cemented his no.
then the UN explosion
at no point was cap in a "ok, i'll sit and abide by this" mindset for more than a few moments.

11:08 AM
During the negotiation, he picked the pen. Is it not the sigh that he is thinking about it?

11:25 AM
@AnkitSharma that was the second time he was asked to sign, I believe, after the explosion and after things went to hell. They had Bucky in custody by then.
the first time he decided he wasn't going to participate and just stayed home. that's why he was incognito in Vienna.
if Bucky hadn't been framed he would never have come out of hiding, they would have implemented the accords without him, and he would likely have just become a fugitive anyway

hmmmm

It'll be interesting to see how the Accords effect things moving forward.
Is Peter going to be effected by them?
Black Panther?
Doctor Strange?
Daredevil?

But now Accords are no more

@AnkitSharma Where on Earth did you get that from?

WE have Tony's Avengers and Cap's secret Avengers

11:30 AM
They were signed by 117 countries.

Can we call it secret avengers ?

Nothing undid that.

@DrRDizzle Avengers don't give it shit anymore , Afetr Zola's plan unfold, it might get canceled
I don't think MCU going to stretch it much

Meanwhile, Tony has no Avengers on which to call on other than The Vision.
And maybe Peter.
So it's Peter, Tony and The Vision VS... everyone else.
If it even comes to that.
@AnkitSharma Why would it be cancelled?

@DrRDizzle Next film is infinity war, keeping accords till then is not that good idea
They can play with it in Agent of shield at most
Netflix is complete different universe where they can mention MCU stuff no more then 2-3 times

11:40 AM
@AnkitSharma Out-of-universe reason, we're talking in-universe. There are something like 8 films between now and Avengers: Infinity War.
I bet the Accords are relevant to at least one of them.

I think , they will complete skip it, maybe mention it in some dialogue at most.
And i will love to see if they make it into secret avengers and Tony's avengers.
Both can do more recruitment

@DrRDizzle I didn't get the impression that Black Widow was actually abandoning the Accords, just that she thought Tony was being a dick

@KutuluMike After attacking the King of Wakanda in order to help fugitives escape justice, Tony tells her that "they" are coming for her, and she tells him that he needs to watch his back. We don't see her again.
Even if she believes in the Accords (and I don't think she does), she's still an outlaw now.

true.
but the King of Wakanda changed his mind, he certainly has some influence over things.
He's an influential member of the UN now.
maybe they'll sort things out in the Black Panther movie

@KutuluMike Maybe.

11:47 AM
None of the superhero seems to be supporting Accords anymore.
I think only War machine shows his support in ending scene

@AnkitSharma Tony probably still believes that the Accords are a step in the right direction, even if he ended up going against them.
And The Vision based his reasoning on an equation that still stands.

That's why we only know War machine is openly supporting them
We don't know exactly what vision want
Spider left as tony told him to go
Black widow left too

@AnkitSharma Peter never believed in the Accords. I doubt he ever even knew why he was fighting really.
Other than "Steve is wrong, and that makes him dangerous"

Yeah that's why i never liked him or his stand
To me peter just completed the count or 6 vs 6 and looked cool
Rest he had no stand of his own

Q: Which comes first chronologically, Jessica Jones Season 1 or Daredevil Session 2?

GravitonI see that a character from Jessica Jones, Hogarth appears in the last episode of Daredevil Season 2. Also the name "Jessica Jones" is mentioned in one of the episodes of Daredevil Season 2. Which "event" comes first, Jessica Jones Season 1, or Daredevil Season 2?

11:54 AM
@AnkitSharma That's the beauty of his words to Tony. They are ambiguous; Tony reads them as support for the Accords, but Steve would have read them as support for his stance.
Peter's just a kid, and he's still reeling from the death of Uncle Ben. He wants to be more responsible, and this billionaire shows up and tells him "heres how". Who is he to disagree?
"If you can do something, and you don't, and then a bad thing happens, that's your fault".
To Tony, that's about the Accords stopping the bad thing.
To Steve, that's about the Accords stopping them from stopping the bad thing.

i think peter, given the option/choices is team cap
by his statements to stark

except Tony is Peter's idol.
and he's an impressionable kid.

thats why cap wont sign, because he cant stop helping people, if he sees it, he has to help, and thats what peter wants to do to

he's going to be team Tony

well obviously he doesnt have any IDEA why hes there
and stark told him that the others are liers

12:01 PM
except not Team Tony is implicitly Team Cap so it's kinda irrelevant

it was like dirty, watching tony come to peter
seeing him manipulate him like he did

no.
dirty was watching tony with aunt may

Probably worth remembering that Peter only agreed to go when Tony blackmailed him.

which was even worse
come with me, save the world, or ill tell your aunt, also captain america is a lier dont listen to him
oh yeah and if you come with me you cant help people without government panel approval

@DrRDizzle this was actually a sore point for me. when tony asks him why he's spider-man, peter just goes on about wanting to help people. this would have been a perfect point to mention ben and/or the 'with great power...'
of note, peter started team-iron man in the comics, and switches to team-cap towards the end

12:16 PM
I guess they were serious about the no-origin-story bit

yeah, but i feel like they didnt have to go into "my uncle died, blah blah" could have just said, "well, someone once told me that with great power comes great responsibility. it's my responsibility to help people"

12:33 PM
@phantom42 I can understand why they didn't have Peter bearing his sole to this man he's just met. Remember, he's just a kid.

what do peters feet have to do with being a kid?
OT: i hate jira.

@phantom42 dang

@DrRDizzle He literally just blackmailed him to join and the story had no effect from his presence.

This Birth.Movies.Death article is a good indication of why that isn't quite true. Spider-Man’s Central Role In CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR - Why webhead is more than just a cool cameo

12:49 PM
Didn't we decided to ignore BMD except Dizzle, who writes there article in secret

I wish I could write half as well as some of the contributors to BMD.

bleh
Hot aunt may not so intelligent pre-teen spider-man didn't excited me much for there solo film at all
On the other hand the character i hated from comics seems more interesting in MCU (Black panther )

hm. got a dv on my civil war pre-watch answer. ideas why?
besides people dv'ing to dv

"The fact that he recruits 15 year old Peter Parker to fight Captain America only proves that Tony Stark is looking at the Sokovia Accords as a way of taking responsibility and guilt from his own shoulders. He's cutting the wire, not laying himself down on it, to go back to Tony and Cap's first argument way back in The Avengers. He's not interested in taking responsibility. He wants to shrug it off onto someone else."

(just looking for any areas in need of improvement)

12:53 PM
@phantom42 I don't do much voting in sicfi, only upvoting in Marvel/DC question or DV rarely for complete crap
@DrRDizzle Yeah he is black mailing kids to do his fights with incomplete informing them.
I had only one major issue in MCU which is Spider-man. Rest are minor ones which i can ignore

@AnkitSharma "By having Tony make this mistake the film undercuts his own position, bringing the two sides into closer balance in our minds. And that balance, I believe, is everything for this film - you should be able to argue passionately (and correctly) in favor of both Team Cap and Team Stark."
It's a really good article, even if I don't quite agree with all of it.
@AnkitSharma "You could pull Spider-Man out of Civil War and have the same basic plot, but the plot isn’t the be-all, end-all of a movie. Spider-Man’s role is fundamental for the film’s larger thematic concerns, and I don’t even know what the version of this script was like before Marvel and Sony reached their deal. Oh, and he’s also cool as hell. Sometimes that alone makes a character or a scene indispensable. Let's not pretend we're above wanting cool shit in our movies."

I don't have access to BMD in office and i don't even like there articles

russos say that was the script before the deal

@DrRDizzle 6 vs 6 nothing much to it

backup script was missing spidey

12:58 PM
Spider-man is eye candy for superhero fans and they just used it for civil war promotion
He didn't had nay impact on story at all

Even agent 13 had more impact

@AnkitSharma The quote I gave literally states that ""You could pull Spider-Man out of Civil War and have the same basic plot, but the plot isn’t the be-all, end-all of a movie. Spider-Man’s role is fundamental for the film’s larger thematic concerns".

On the other hand every other character had some good purpose for story
@DrRDizzle Not at all "Spider-Man’s role is fundamental for the film’s larger thematic concerns" is completely over the top forced positive reaction

@AnkitSharma The themes of the film are loss, grief, responsibility and revenge. How does Peter Parker not fit all of those?

1:01 PM
@DrRDizzle Grief on what? Loss, he got col gadgets no loss.
Loss, he got col gadgets no loss.
responsibility, hey he was blackmailed for participation

@AnkitSharma Cap is greiving for Peggy, Tony is greiving for losing Pepper, Peter is still dealing with the loss of Uncle Ben.

revenge on ?

@AnkitSharma Peter doesn't really reinforce the idea of revenge, but in his origin story in the original films Peter nearly kills Uncle Bens killer out of revenge.

AFAIK There is absolutely zero mention of Peter grieving anyone or that he recently lost his uncle.
granted, we know his origin story

@AnkitSharma tony wants revenge for his parents. t'challa wants revenge for his father. zemo wants revenge for his family.

1:03 PM
but in the movie, he's just a kid who suddenly got power 6 months ago

@KutuluMike He says he's had his powers for 6 months, which means we know that Uncle Ben isn't long in the ground.

are you sure you even watched the movie?

@DrRDizzle So? It's not canon to MCU

@DrRDizzle only if you inject your own prior knowledge into the movie.

@AnkitSharma No, it isn't, but those are still the main themes of the film and Peter reinforces 75% of them.

1:04 PM
for all we know, MCU peter may just be living with his single hot young aunt

@phantom42 I was talking about spider only

@KutuluMike Which we are expected to do, given that there have been 5 prior Spider-Man films.

btw, who seems remarkably perky for having just lost her husband

@phantom42 I think you missed the whole conversation where dizzled said
3 mins ago, by Dr R Dizzle
@AnkitSharma The themes of the film are loss, grief, responsibility and revenge. How does Peter Parker not fit all of those?

I think it's a major stretch to claim that peter's unspoken and unmentioned tragic backstory that no one talks about somehow forms a key aspect of the theme of the film.
3
he's comic relief
the dueling comic relief duo of spider-man and ant-man

1:06 PM
@KutuluMike I never said it forms the themes; regardless of Peter's appearance in the film, the themes are still there. But he certainly helps reinforce them.

7 mins ago, by Dr R Dizzle
@AnkitSharma The quote I gave literally states that ""You could pull Spider-Man out of Civil War and have the same basic plot, but the plot isn’t the be-all, end-all of a movie. Spider-Man’s role is fundamental for the film’s larger thematic concerns".
Spider-Man’s role is fundamental for the film’s larger thematic concerns
^-- a lie

11 mins ago, by Dr R Dizzle
It's a really good article, even if I don't quite agree with all of it.

@KutuluMike lol

@DrRDizzle so I am disagreeing with the article and not you then.

@KutuluMike Yes.

1:08 PM
you quoted it to support your point, though

I think Peter's inclusion works well with the themes, I don't think it's fundamental.

7 mins ago, by Dr R Dizzle
@AnkitSharma The themes of the film are loss, grief, responsibility and revenge. How does Peter Parker not fit all of those?

we all disagree with dizzle just on principle though

^ what about this

@KutuluMike I quoted it after Ankit said that Spider-Man adds nothing to the plot.

1:09 PM
he kinda doesn't. neither does ant-man.

The relevant part was "the plot isn’t the be-all, end-all of a movie"

As per you there are 4 point of the theme of film (loss, grief, responsibility and revenge)
How he fill any of them

spiderman and antman are for fun imo, thats what t hey added, to great effect, but removing either wouldnt have been much of a loss

if anything, Peter is a refreshing point of light, simple humor in an otherwise thematically deep and complex and tragic movie.

But Ant-man look relevant, his choosing a side, dialogue and everything goes perfect for the film

1:10 PM
truthfully, ant-man and spidey are fun diversions, added to fill roles in the story that didnt necessarily need to be there.

@AnkitSharma He hits 3/4. His little speech shows us how guilty he feels about the loss of Uncle Ben. Yes, that relies on knowledge of the character; knowledge that everyone already has.

His giant man avatar also was good for film

antman doesnt really choose a side either
they just pick his ass up and say your with cap
hes like cool

yeah, ant-man just goes along with Falcon and is star-struck by Cap

@DrRDizzle no at all, we know nothing about his past. So no.......not for MCU

1:11 PM
at least he didnt end up like his counterpart in the comics
(spoiler: dead)

@AnkitSharma We do though. Radioactive Spider, Uncle Ben, great power, great responsibility. We all know that that is what happened.

as far as we know spidermans uncle cheated on his wife

and drank a beer

and isnt even dead

@Himarm In Ant-man his mentor already manipulated him to not trust Tony. And he picked the side which is opposite to his current believe
Nobody blackmailed him

1:12 PM
I actually felt that Ant-Man was more shoe-horned in than Spider-Man. His entire arc in Ant-Man has him trying to prove that he's more than a criminal so he can see his daughter again. Why would he risk that?

because he thinks he's being a hero

nobody blackmailed ant-man, but theres also no evidence that he cares one way or another

in his mind, he's working with The Avengers to save the world
how much more heroic can you get?

@AnkitSharma would he probably have sided with cap anyway, yes, did he actualy care at all? no, he litterally just got picked up and said fight with cap, and hes like "okay"

@DrRDizzle Now you are forcing what you know into the film which never happens in the film.

1:13 PM
@KutuluMike "You'll be breaking the law." "Yeah, what else is new." He knows he's not on the side of the law here.

He was for cool factor and to fill 6 vs 6 count

@AnkitSharma TBF: feige has said that mcu spidey is coming in without getting an origin story because everyone already knows it

@AnkitSharma Because it's knowledge we are expected to have thanks to the 2 versions of his origin (the most popular superhero in the world, by the way) we've all already seen. I have no idea how you can be this dense.

I'm sure he figured he was in good company
since Captain f'ing America is breaking the same law.

@KutuluMike True. It just felt a little reckless given Ant-Man; then again, I guess Scott IS a little reckless.

1:14 PM
imo if your with captain america, you can do whatever you want
lol

based on that comment, it's not unreasonable to assume the standards: radioactive spider, dead parents, dead uncle ben, great power...

@phantom42 So which origin are we going to take . Spider-man film one, ASM film one or from comics that totem one? or some what-if one?

horny aunt may

@Himarm sexy aunt may
She looks more sexy then Black Widow

id like to point out, that stark also tells us why hes never really liked/gotten along with cap in this moive

1:16 PM
@phantom42 I'm sure we are supposed to assume the standard facts about the origin story, but that's a far cry from injecting the emotional meaning of those events into the film without even mentioning them.

because his dad shoved cap down his throat for 20 years

@AnkitSharma None of them. All we are expected to know is that he's got Spider powers from a spider, and that uncle ben died and he blames himself. That's it.

which brings new lite to their tension the last 3453 movies

bud lite?
ah crap.

@KutuluMike fair. just pointing out that we're allowed to assume the basic facts here

1:17 PM
im late for work
its all dizzle's fault
3

@KutuluMike "If you can do something, and you don't, and then the bad thing happens, that's your fault" is, with knowledge of Peter, a confession of guilt about the death of Uncle Ben. That works for me.
@KutuluMike Everything is.

@DrRDizzle And assume he has grief and responsibility and maturity and ......... because he had that in comics ?

@AnkitSharma origin wise, they're all pretty much the same. field trip, radioactive spider, dead uncle ben. the real difference comes with the parents. maguires version doesnt touch them. but in the comics, they were spies. the garfield version is a play on that.

@phantom42 Does that also qualifying to complete four pillar of the film theme as said by dizzle?

@Himarm he's complained about his dad's idolization of cap before
@AnkitSharma didn't say it did. you asked which origin we're supposed to assume he has
point is that all versions of peters origins are pretty much identical

1:21 PM
@phantom42 I get you point, but my point is we don't know his exact purpose in life in MCU, he is just a cool teen superhero come and throw jokes. He doesn't fill any thematic value for film

@AnkitSharma No, we are just meant to know that anyone who loses someone close to them gets sad.
@AnkitSharma You are wrong.

So i think knowing his back story didn't help us to say that he is way essential for the film and important for thematic representation of the main theme for the film
@DrRDizzle How because i didn't added his old story in the mix to prove his presence more important in the film.

MCU can work anytime without X-men

OP suggests just rebooting x-men and saying they've been in the mcu the whole time
... in san francisco

1:25 PM
@AnkitSharma No, because Peter Parker as a character works well with most of the themes the film is dealing with. He just does.
@phantom42 I'd rather not, thanks.

@phantom42 Can't access the link but i suppose it doesn't make much sense

I feel like the X-Men can support their own universe, with the right touch.

@DrRDizzle He does what he didn't done. Nice point.
X-men is too big thing, they don't need support from non x-men to make films. Juts blame fox for being so dumb
MCU also have too much of their own and from GotG, they proved that they can make anything work
I just have one issue Hulk. I am a hulk fan and he is too less used
I want to see she-hulk, red hulk, planet of the hulk, etc etc which seems impossible

on a completely unrelated note: how is it that a fairy tale show called Once Upon A Time has absolutely zero happy endings?

@KutuluMike hahahahhah, don't ask me i left the show and I am happy with my decision

1:35 PM
@KutuluMike that was a pretty dark episode

"love always wins, hope always wins, we will always be together, heros get their happy endings if they just believe and try and -- oh wait you're dead."
@phantom42 it seems to be a recurring theme, though.
the only couple in the whole show that has managed to not die is snow/charming and god i hate those two.

we've had some happy endings too though
red and alice, for now

that is true, i guess.

aurora and whatever his name is

Cinderella and his rich bf
Arora and his prince?

1:38 PM
so the only way to get a happy ending is to run the hell away from storybrooke

pretty much
elsa/anna
what happened to hurley the giant?
is he still farming in storybrooke?

fell off a beanstalk and broke his neck?

@phantom42 he started farming and red used his only remaining bean

ah. so driven out of business by a selfish werewolf?

@KutuluMike hahahahha
@KutuluMike The whole scene of red using the last bean was too dumb
Snow white gave the bean to the less deserving candidate from the whole bunch of characters

1:46 PM
i know henry doesnt want to abuse his powers as the author, but i kinda have a hard time with him just saying, "yeah, i guess i'll just let everything go to complete shit even though i can fix all this in 3 seconds"

@phantom42 Because they want to make 6-7 more seasons

they just killed a god. theyr'e running out of stories

I only liked there first 2 season and wonderland
They had potential but they ruined it by repeated dumb plot

Isn't Once Upon a Time just the store-brand version of Fables anyway?

dont know what fables is, so... maybe?

2:01 PM
@phantom42 A comic book where loads of fictional characters such as Snow White, Prince Charming etc live in a world that is attached to the real world.

premise sounds the same, at least.
or at least, similar
in OUAT they start out not knowing they're from the stories/another world
everything is a remixed version of the disney stories

The series deals with various people from fairy tales and folklore – referring to themselves as "Fables" – who have been forced out of their Homelands by "The Adversary" who has conquered the realm. The Fables have traveled to our world and formed a clandestine community in New York City known as Fabletown. Fables who are unable to blend in with human society (such as monsters and anthropomorphic animals) live at "the Farm" in upstate New York.

@Himarm That's interesting. I guess if the guy behind Fables doesn't consider it to be a rip-off, it probably isn't.
Then again;
DC didn't want me as part of the deal making and paid handsomely not to have me directly involved

Q: Does anyone know how old Yoda is?

RANSARA009In Star Wars, does anyone know how old Yoda is? Is it mentioned in any Star Wars movies?

@RogueJedi Well, it can't be any worse than Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (and isn't judging from the RT score there).
