@Jon lol I just saw that
bananaphone
is that a humongous cock in your pants
no it's my bananaphone
> Istanbul-based Ardic Technology has designed what could be called as world's largest Android tablet with a 65-inch screen and Honeycomb...
just wait guys
this will be standard size for phones in a few years
Pip
Pip
lol
why the fuck would you do that?
21:06
@GnomeSlice are all of the indies you link to having single page websites
@Pip meetings and conferences
Pip
Pip
meh
@GnomeSlice like is there some sad nolifer constantly designing one page websites for obscure indies
@AlexM. What, it's not single page.
@GnomeSlice you get the point
@AlexM. I do. =[
That game looks pretty sweet though.
21:07
dude, three words
Call of Duty
play some of that
and drop the indies for a while
@AlexM. Why?
@AlexM. I've played some with friends, it's okay I guess.
Halo was my MP FPS jam
because instead of an indie fan
you now look like an indie fanatic
@AlexM. I linked one game today
Also maybe I am
21:09
and fanaticism usually signals disorder
@IcyDefiance shut up
you haven't been bombarded with 1000 obscure indies
in less than an hour
@AlexM. I posted one game. =[
not today
I didn't know this was AAA gamedev room.
21:10
I am still scarred
@AlexM. you haven't been "bombarded" with any more than I have. at least not in this chat room.
everything you post is obscure indies; I had no idea enough people to make these games even live on this planet
@AlexM. I don't even post the obscure ones.
You want to see some obscure ones?
no, please
he didn't even target you with the link either
talk about overreacting. who the fuck even cares.
21:11
shut up icy this is between me and him
why the fuck do you care
back at you
why do you care so much?
I'll probably buy the game at one of the links he shared yesterday, so I appreciate it
why do YOU care so much?
because you're ranting so fucking hard
Can't we all just getabong?
you just want to argue
21:11
Let him rant
because you are a whore who loves conflict
says the person who started this shit
MOMMY, DADDY, STOP
that's about it
talk about cognitive dissonance
21:13
pointing out that I have the same issues as you doesn't really help when my point is you have the same issues as me mate
can I go back to posting obscure music
doesn't help you at least
I'm hungry, I'm outta this
no I'm pointing out that you have the issues you're accusing me of, which I didn't think you realized. I never said a single word about myself, because I didn't think it was worth defending against such batshit insane accusations.
21:14
In his defense, I am totally an indie game fanatic.
well yeah, I'd agree with that
but who cares?
@GnomeSlice on a more serious note, no matter how good the thing you post is, if you post too much of it, eventually, people will have enough
Yeah I know
you can't truly ignore a chat message unless you turn ignore on, but that ruins everything
Why does it bother you so much?
I'm bothered about your anime avatars and the music drops you do
21:16
because I read the messages, obviously
@AlexM. Lots of people on the gaming chatroom have me on ignore, for various reasons
I still don't complain about it like you do
I haven't even seen many links.
c'mon, I haven't dropped music in like 8 days
Everyone stop posting links, Alex's feelings get hurt
21:17
Leave him alone
lol lasse and icy should change their usernames to alex 2 and alex 3
:P
Got my first part for my computer
Psychological projection is the act or technique of defending yourself against unpleasant impulses by denying their existence in yourself, while attributing them to others. For example, a person who is rude may accuse other people of being rude. Although rooted in early developmental stages, and classed by George Eman Vaillant as an immature defence, the projection of one's negative qualities onto others on a small scale is nevertheless a common process in everyday life. Historical precursors A prominent precursor in the formulation of the projection principle was Giambattista Vico (2...
@IcyDefiance thanks
but if you didn't like arguments, you wouldn't start them with me
@hasherr HEY
thats cool
21:18
you would shut up and ignore me, like almo does
Yeah
or pretty much everyone else
who is not icy or lasse
I didn't start anything. I joined one you started, to defend a person who I didn't think deserved the berating he was receiving from you.
@AlexM. For what it's worth, I spammed you with indie shooters yesterday because you said there were no indie shooters. =[
calm down children.
grey is here to save the day
21:19
@GnomeSlice dude I was only kidding there
@AlexM. ...Oh.
@Grey Is drama brewing?
but once icy joined in I just had to pleasure him
You should start ignoring the irritating stuff too, as everyone else but the two of us seems to ignore you
@hasherr storm's a brewin
Icy is a black belt in Black Hat Hacking
21:19
lul
I mean here I am faking and argument an then icy joins in WHO TOTALLY DOESN'T LIKE ARGUMENTS, to start arguing why I'm doing it
if you're the only one who is aware that the argument is fake, it's not really fake
What if your joke just was bad, and nobody got that
@IcyDefiance I'm not even going to get started on that one
sure, easier for me
21:21
@Lasse you still joined in the argument out of nowhere
So the RAM I wanted was out of stock on Newegg today, which is a dissapoint, but I found practically the same ram for even cheaper on the site
I still read the whole thing
It makes me suspicious.
you don't really enter a conflict without liking conflict
Pip
Pip
@Grey can you commit the changes you made to the "broken" branch pls
21:21
I don't think this makes sense to you as much as it does to me
recently, there have been too many game/image/music links to follow all of them. really, it's better to post fewer, since more people will see each one
it's not like I picked on you
but I won't bitch if there are too many
Even if I'm not typing anything it does not mean I'm not reading everything
21:22
I'll just ignore them
YOU just picked on me for picking on someone else
And here's the one from today
Is there a problem with these?
uhh, no matter how much someone hates conflict, if he thinks there's someone else worth defending, he'll probably join in.
I did that because I don't like you picking on people with no apparant reason or apparant joking
because that person worth defending probably hates conflict too
21:22
man now you're so deep
both of you
fine
Pip
Pip
@hasherr odd
at least we're not trying to project our own asshole traits onto other people and justify ourselves by saying two wrongs make a right
Pip
Pip
@Grey PLEASE
Yeah, I'm tempted to just buy that one
Pip
Pip
hey Icy
21:23
@hasherr I have cheap RAM, not sure the difference is that huge in games
Pip
Pip
shut it
anyhow, bbl
Why is everyone upset at everyone???
three lefts make a right though, if they're 90 degree turns
apparently $60 is cheap for 2x4GB RAM on that store, what the hell
wait, 2X4GB is $100 in Romania
why is RAM so damn expensive out of a sudden
I paid like $40 for my 2x4GB
2 years ago
yeah price jumped up quite a bit recently, but I forget why
I'm about to leave for home, so I can't look it up now
21:26
maybe there was another flooding thingy
like how it was with HDDs years ago
Pip
Pip
idk
I got one 8gb in my laptop
> Two months ago, a fire at a Hynix factory created a shortage in DRAM inventory and exacerbated the gradual climb in DRAM prices.
Oh that's december
at a single factory?
So it's 6 months ago now
Yeah
@AlexM. JIt's not that it's cheaper, if you look at the specs they're identical
Pip
Pip
21:28
@Grey please please please
omg
@Grey ???
im doing it
pls stop pinging me
Pip
Pip
thank you :)
@Grey are you going to make an ad for the project stuff? :(
you can make one with your logo on it
to say something like "Read more about Malware Tycoon or tell us about YOUR project!"
Pip
Pip
21:30
@hasherr @Grey who do you think should be our playtester?
^ bad line, should be worked upon more
Pip
Pip
maybe Alex?
Whoa whoa whoa
Playtester
Pip
Pip
21:31
uh?
We don't even have a functional product yet
We're not even CLOSE
Pip
Pip
ik
:P
It is a topic for future discussion
We don't even have a functional product yet
I wouldn't be a good playtester because
Pip
Pip
not nao
ik :P
21:31
I'm not sure I'd be able to tell you guys that something sucks
Why are you talking about playtesters?
Pip, I know that we're doing well so far, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
That's how projects fail.
@hasherr this
I so want to get ahead of myself right now, because I cant get this damn thing to work and I want to do something else, but everything depends on this
Pip
Pip
lol
And the thing is, I cant get a damn cube on my screen >:(
21:33
@hasherr I think aiming to make a playtester relevant ASAP is a good way to NOT make your project fail
It's thinking ahead.
A lot of my projects that have failed have failed because I got ahead of myself. I started overthinking about it, thinking about 'cutting edge features' before I even had a sprite rendered.
cubes, y u no work
it's really just trying to get a demo ASAP disguised in a need-a-playtester form
And before I knew it, I was laying in bed frustrated and feeling disfunctional
it sets you on the path to getting things on the screen ASAP vs working on the insides exclusively
Pip
Pip
21:35
true
remember, a game with half of its features fully implemented might still be fun; a game with all of its features half implemented isn't even playable
4
don't get me wrong
I agree with @hasherr, you don't need playtesters right now, obviously
And before I knew it, I was laying in bed frustrated and feeling disfunctional
Pip
Pip
@AlexM. yeah
but choosing someone to playtest something and raise expectations for him is sort of a good idea
Okay, real quick, can somebody tell me the difference between these two sets of RAM? pcpartpicker.com/part/team-memory-tlad38g1600hc9dc01 and pcpartpicker.com/part/team-memory-tlyd38g1600hc9dc01
21:37
like, choose @Lasse and tell him "two weeks from now we'll have feature X and Y ready for you to test"
and stick to that
get feature X and Y done in two weeks
I hope it's running on linux
Pip
Pip
it is at the moment
I made sure
God damn, my internet is freaking out
Pip
Pip
btw @hasherr, when you are making file paths, use the os.sep thing
Okay, we can talk about it in a bit
21:38
@hasherr if it's about performance, just choose whichever RAM is cheap and does the job :D
hold on
for games, the most important part is the GPU anyway
I just don't want to buy bad parts
And I'm pretty sure my GPU is okay.
@AlexM. Here, you can see the whole list if you want pcpartpicker.com/user/hasherr/saved/43ge
if you'd ask me, I'd lower the price on the mobo
and get a more expensive PSU
No, don't lower the price on mobo
21:41
@AlexM. These days, the CPU matters a lot
O_O
Why do I need a better psu?
530W is damn plenty for a 323W machine
(Yes I know it won't be exaclty 323)
did you never wonder why there are 500W PSUs for $20 and 420W PSUs for $120?
I remember paying $100 for mine
I don't know
lol pygame module not found. it was working b4
HUEAHUEHUHUEHUEh dies
a 520W Antec High Current Gamer
21:43
I could get 8 gigs of ram for $70 or 8 gigs of ram for $400
macpro 2008: 65 pounds.
macpro 2013: 14 pounds.
heheh
much easier to steal though
aside from the fact that cheap PSUs don't deliver the wattage written on the box
remember the PSU is one of the components most likely to break all other components in case of failure
also it's the only one that can literally catch on fire
do you really want a cheap PSU?
this is way better psu
It's not efficient but it's a lot better by components
HERRMMM
I HATE ALL OF UUUU
21:46
just go to a PC store where professionals work and assemble PCs
they're more qualified for advising you than we are
that's what I always do; I take a list of the things I need and discuss it with a pro at the store I buy components from
I wish I had a store near me
this would be with good efficiency too
Budget
Pip
Pip
@Grey that sucks
21:47
I like your other one though
Review on Newegg say it's good
Pip
Pip
hey @Noctrine
@Lasse Modular
That too
I've always kinda wanted a Modular PSU
21:48
Yeah the non-modular are kind of irritating
@Lasse Yeah, that PSU sould be fine
Hey noc man
Pip
Pip
@Noctrine debating playtesters for MalwareTycoon with hash and Grey (not ready to playtest, yet.... not for a while)
If you aren't ready what are you debating?
@Pip No we're not
Pip
Pip
21:49
pros, cons, when we should do that
listen to hash @Noctrine
What's the debate?
I don't even think we should be thinking about playtesting
The project is a baby
Pip
Pip
@Grey where is your commit?
We shouldn't start visiting college now
Pip
Pip
lol
21:52
@hasherr Commit isn't there.
Pip
Pip
alright @hasherr I will drop it
my pygame module is broken
Pip
Pip
that shouldn't matter
If you have nothing to test then, since your team is small and all, focus on making the game. Play testing early bonuses : You may be able to save effort if everything is terrible by starting over earlier. Play testing later bonus : More of your vision is represented, and the urge to change what you are doing when not being able to filter good / bad suggestions is diminished.
Done :D
@Pip lol k then
Pip
Pip
21:54
lol
Does Grey by everyone doughnuts if he breaks the build?
should buy me donuts anyway
Pip
Pip
he can't break the build, he is pushing to the "broken" branch :P
@pip I am going to take a shower and then deal with this.
Pip
Pip
lol
wait a sec
21:56
Thanks Noc
It's close to 90 degrees and I have been studying for hours
@hasherr NO DONUTs
Pip
Pip
all you have to do is: git push origin broken
@Pip it's not that
Pip
Pip
what? just do that pls
...
I don't think you understand what my problem is pip
at all.
Pip
Pip
21:57
nonono
P4
no git
Remove everything in your computer, put it all back :D
Pip
Pip
I don't care about that :P
I just want your progress :P
Pygame Module should work after that :p
@Noctrine this works to fix problems with linux, so I say good suggestion
21:59
Works with windows too
yeah but windows has an easier solution. just turn the computer off and back on again.
