9:00 PM
also I was all happy and stuff for getting 20+ on an old and crappy answer of mine
and today I see this

damn

lololol

yeah, I lost a bunch too. Must have been the sock puppets

Apparently I didn't have answers they were interested in

I reported one that was one of the rep trolls
now I've got this smell for them
actually it's because of the magic number (4) of votes they get in less than half an hour
actually, wouldn't it be FUNNY
if we took four of us
and randomly upvoted new and crappy answers

9:03 PM
yeah, was gonna say, that's not funny at all.

damn, I was sure you'd say that
it was sarcasm though
should've made it caps + italic tho

we should downvote random crappy answers, like the folks in Lounge<C++> and Javascript.
for realz

wonder how things go in the C++ area
const hi const guys& const how const are const you const

@AlexM. never!

oh yeah?!
you want ME
to throw some LISP
at you?!
wait, where did I put it
it should be something paired with emacs
man I hate emacs
I swear I can code faster than that ruby guy with his VIM
in VS
or anything with buttons
(for everything)
FOUND IT
@Gajoo EAT LISP!
(defun prompt-input(message)

  (format *query-io* "~a: " message)

  (force-output *query-io*)

  (read-line *query-io*))

9:09 PM
@AlexM. ok? what else should I do?

evil eyes SAVOR IT!
and have some antique AWK of mine for dessert
BEGIN {
	lncount = 0;
        fis = "";
}
{
	if (FNR == 1) {
		if (fis != "") {
			print(fis);
			print(lncount);
		}
		fis = FILENAME;
		lncount = 0;
	}
	if (length($0) >= 10) {
		lncount++;
		print(FNR);
		print(substr($0, 10, length($0)));
	}
}
END {
	print(FILENAME);
	print(lncount);
}

@AlexM. then again, I can see from where did Obj-C inherit it's bad gene. I was sure dennis was not guilty!

there is no bad gene in LISP
it's just a misunderstood language
all it needs is more jQuery!

Now from Google: LQuery, for Common Lisp.

but no really, the first thing I really liked when I tried common, was this
(y-or-n-p "Do it again? [y/Y/n/N]")
y-or-n-p

9:12 PM
@AlexM. I think we can look at jQuery just the way we look at psychiatric hospitals!

FALSE
psychiatric hospitals all run on jQuery!
or is it true then?
it's the 5th of June and my traffic wasn't reset so far
I'm losing my patience
Smart Pointers Gotchas - for the new C++11 smart pointers bit.ly/Zrg5Sh
there is this video I watched a long time ago
I wonder if half of the awe isn't because of the great artwork
it's still really impressive though

yeah, it's pretty cool stuff
All 2D graphics, as in png
(but there's also a normal map for the lighting)

yup, the author described the process in the video's desc
You're not really seeing much of anything new shader-wise. Apart from the spiffy new particle system (which still needs a lot of work and optimisation, alas), the main challenge has been coding in all the interdependencies and getting the lighting and colours to look just right in all combinations of: sunny, cloudy, day, night, dawn, dusk, rainy, snowy, stormy etc. There's a simple fog shader to darken stuff lower down than higher up using the heightmap, but it's 90% about tweaking the bloom settings. The other neat trick is overlaying a neat transluscent glow sprite over every light in the
I'd really like to study more on stuff like shaders but I've been unable to find a nice book :(

9:29 PM
Correction: Normal + Heightmap. So 3 things: png + normal map + height map

coding is fun and stuff but I'd like to stop ignorantly adding premade shaders and art to my game
and actually know what the hell each does

I haven't even touched a shader

so I guess you don't know of any good books either :(
the more experience you get, the more you start to doubt what most people write
and want to be sure from the start

guess I'll google stuff again

10:12 PM
I've messed with shaders. the worst part is understanding matrix operations.
I used this tutorial: rastertek.com/dx11tut04.html
well not only that one. you'll have to use a few others in that series to get lighting, specular lighting, etc.
@AlexM. guess I'll ping you since it's been 45 minutes. prepare for sudden beep in 3...

Everyone must support this kickstarter. It sounds like only the best idea I have ever heard. kickstarter.com/projects/142892610/…

@ToddersLegrande so you mean it's even better than "world of pokemon craft"?

pokemon, in its entirety, is vastly overrated
even the games
but especially as an anime

@Gajoo Have you ever tasted the glorious flavor that is sriracha?
oh snap
thats just part of the whole thing...

@ToddersLegrande nope, but I guess you were serious :|

10:26 PM
@Gajoo I don't know if this is blocked for you

@ToddersLegrande it seems it's not
actually this is what I see!

lol thats unfortunate

good thing, I can by pass filtering (for now :|)

so it's basically hot source right?

10:30 PM
It's an iconic hot sauce in North America

that is greater than all other hot sauces

I think I've seen it here too, in the hands of my friends...

Red Robin has a burger right now that has sriracha onion straws on it. Delicious

but still I can't see why is that idea anything special?

Peanut butter and Sriracha makes a good sandwich

10:33 PM
so have you guys heard anything from "anonymous"?
the Palestinian hacker group?

@JohnMcDonald are you pulling my leg? Thinking about it... it could really work
Thinking of peanut butter asian style dishes I've had
I might put it on toast though...

Yeah, it's not bad. It's Thai inspired
Yeaahhh. Toast

anon is Palestinian?
Anonymous is a famous hacker group in the states, but I haven't heard of a Palestinian one.
well I say they're famous, but they're not all that good at anything except getting people excited. they're great at publicity.

@IcyDefiance maybe I'm wrong

@Gajoo its possible whatever media you follow twists it as a Palestinian Group. Gotta love the media...

10:39 PM
@ToddersLegrande it wasn't our media,
I'm pretty sure it was somewhere on the net I've read about them

eh, Anonymous is more of an ideal than a group anyway. there are probably people taking the name in a lot of locations.

saying they've successfully hacked into Israeli government network, and shared their passwords of some top ranked officers.

oh yeah I think I did hear about that
funny thing about government websites: they're often horribly secured.

I guess I'm referring to this attack:
#OpIsrael was a coordinated cyber-attack by anti-Israel groups and individuals against websites they perceived as Israeli, chiefly through denial of service assaults. Timed for 7 April 2013, the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, its stated goal was to "erase Israel from the internet". Some perpetrators claimed to be identified with the hacktivist group Anonymous, but according to Dr. Tal Pavel of MiddleEasterNet, the claim was not necessarily true. In the leadup to the attack, Israeli organizations made preparations to defend their websites, and cyber-security experts called on home users ...

10:50 PM
like the tea party's website here in the US...4chan figured out the password to the admin cp was "password."
oh the fun they had with that...
reading that article, it looks like just a DDoS attack, which is extremely easy
if you know where to look you can literally rent a botnet from someone, type in a URL, and DDoS that address for however long you pay for

@IcyDefiance DDoS is easy theoretically, but it's not really that easy to get it done

it's not that easy to make your own botnet, no

just like how easy it is to break SSL coding, while in practice it's impossible.

have you heard of the TOR browser?

@IcyDefiance it's tor bundled with firefox

10:56 PM
right

so?

using that allows access to .onion websites, and is, as far as I know, the only way to access these sites. they're completely anonymous for both the host and all visitors, and extremely difficult to track because everyone who connects to them does so through the TOR browser.
you wouldn't believe the shit you can find on those sites. some of it is so illegal I won't even mention it in this chat. I really recommend you don't get curious.

so why are you telling me in the first place ;)

a lot of hackers love these sites. most 0 day hacks are posted there, and other stuff like that.
botnets for rent are one of those things.

I never really liked hacking ever, so I guess I won't look, but tnx for the offer :D

11:00 PM
fair enough. I'm interested in hacking because I want to know how to protect against it. I mainly made websites for the last 5 years or so, so security was of interest.
when you look hard enough, you can find a lot of interesting things on the internet.
back to the original point, very few web admins take this kind of interest in security, or are even allowed to worry about security because of the people above them. therefore, a lot of sites are far easier to hack than one might think.

I always liked to know how what could be these security vulnerabilities. mostly because I couldn't imagine a code having security issues.
after a while I figured it's simply caused by bad protocols, and even worst developers implementing those protocol badly.

if you want an example, google SQL injection. it's an incredibly common vulnerability for websites.

@IcyDefiance it's one of the cases of bad protocols.

I've even seen a few banks I was sure would be vulnerable to it, though I didn't feel like facing the consequences of trying it.

anyway, good night.

11:04 PM
see ya

SQL Injection is so easy to protect against too :(

11:53 PM
@IcyDefiance yes?

see the 3 or 4 messages above my ping
was just commenting on the shaders you were talking about

aaah
alright, checking the link
thanks :D
