It's sad Tim has decided to resign and SE's recent stance is partly responsible for this.
I am not sure how to frame this but how would this not prove to be a deterrent for a possible candidate in the coming election for new mod? Tim's and others grievances are justified.
In fact @gung-ReinstateMonica, in your resignation post too, there was an apt comment from Xi'an:
Is calling for new moderators at all appropriate when the self-suspension of two major moderators is an act pointing out that not all is sweet and rosy on SE..? The show must go on??? — Xi'anOct 18, 2019 at 7:43
Anyway, I might post a question for the candidates when the election is due on this for right now I have no better collection of words to frame that.
@StephanKolassa hm. There is no official announcement yet. But I guess there would be one. The time, I feel, is grave and indeed I agree if any viable candidate comes forward. (Btw, would you throw your hat :-))
I can name a few. I don't know whether they're interested or not. But maybe Nick Cox, maybe Stephan :-)
Anyway, I would appreciate anyone experienced enough to see as a new mod. But as I said I would love to listen their opinion on sustainability of the post especially in light of SE's antics.
I'm excited about some of the changes to Ciw in the last few months. Mixture distributions and new routing functionality are definitely high on my list.
