Q: What does the whole letter in Black Panther by Prince NJobu say?

ClassifiedIn the scene where Killmonger goes to the Ancestral Plane and is back at his apartment when he was a kid, he finds a letter written by his dad, Prince N'Jobu. I paused my dvd to try to read the letter and because of the angle and focus of the camera for the movie, I can only read parts of it and...

Q: How do they shoot accident scenes in movies in public areas?

Lara JoyRecently I watched M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, there is a scene where Priyanka Jha is killed in a car accident: Looks like this scene was shot in public areas. In reality, people panic and may call an ambulance. How did they shoot this scene without any nuisance?

@user Hi.
I'm not Charles or a sir but two negatives are a positive.
@user On a more serious note, this is the chatroom for Movies.SE. This Charles person does not frequent here, and will most probably never ever see your message. Is he a contributor on Biology.SE?

Hi @Riker
o/
Kinda a chaotic time to be around
Or maybe you always were
It's hard to tell when the avatars are so small
21:13
when I clicked the "join favorite rooms" I had literally no clue what had happened
and in the last ~20 minutes I've read more internet arguments than I ever wanted to
@Riker Now you do?
a clue, yep!
Join The Tavern or SO's new Tavern
Some hot popcorny talk I tell ya
I try to stay upbeat I guess.
@M.A.R. Wouldn't wonder if it's the same as in other places.
@M.A.R. Have a movie of the day?
@NapoleonWilson Well, I dunno where you're referring to but I'm crying my eyes out
Figuratively, but well, this is some Joker style anger and frustration I'm keeping at bay.
@NapoleonWilson Hmm, well, lemme think
Have I recommended that one
21:18
@M.A.R. I can feel you.
Nope, I haven't
Movie of the day: Platoon
Sorry, nothing lighthearted.
I mean, we could all go and watch Up or something.
I've only ever seen it once, I think.
Mine is something between once and twice
One of the things that needs a rewatch.
I've never given it much attention over other Vietnam treatments really. But maybe I should give it a rewatch, too.
@NapoleonWilson Hmm, do you know some movies that glorify war?
I mean, besides Braveheart
Something about gunny wars.
Everything about Vietnam or WWII seems to be anti-war to me. I mean, probably understandably so but people look at them differently.
I was looking for something from the other side of the spectrum as a reference point
21:28
@M.A.R. Oh, there are a lot. The classic WWII films of the 60s don't have too much of an anti-angle, I think.
Which is historically...understandable, when figuring in the American viewpoint and the Vietnam trauma.
Uh well, they don't have much thought behind them either, do they?
Is there a movie that tries to present some arguments, and incorporate them into the plot, other than "HAHA DIE NAZIS"?
But at the end of the day, there's also this old quote that "you can't make an anti-war film".
Or maybe I'm taking them too lightly
In recent memory, Fury was a really weird mixture. It didn't seem to know if it was a glorious fight against evil or if it wanted to paint the atrocities of a war and left an all around strange feeling in the stomach.

Q: Is Apocalypse Now, an anti-War film or a pro-War film?

AnkitApocalypse Now ends with Col. Kurtz's words "The Horror, the horror". Capt. Willard is also seen saying during the end of the movie They will make me Major after this but I am not even in their Army anymore. These things and the overall tone of the movie suggests that it is an anti-war fil...

A really nice thread on the matter.
@NapoleonWilson I think it wanted to be the next Saving Private Ryan except it did great in showing the war and a bit shaky showing the characters
What made Spielberg's movie great was the contrast between how Tom Hanksy Tom Hanks wanted to be and how brutal the reality of the inevitable situation was
@NapoleonWilson Fav'd for later. I really wish I met John Smith Optional
@M.A.R. At one point it showed Brad Pitt's crew commiting utter war crimes and being assholes in general. In the next scene they're literally on some godly mission against evil. And then this weird Nazi montage at the end of the film. It just didn't seem to know where it wanted to go.
But all I got was @Ankit.
Like, Saving Private Ryan was a really good film, as is Inglourious Basterds. But trying to...mash them up could get... ;-)
Haha, trying to imagine Brad Pitt sob like Tom Hanks after the medic death
21:57
Speaking of underrated Vietnam films, though, I particularly like Casualties of War. And not just because of Brian DePalma.
The name is familiar (I mean, it's common) but hmm, sounds good
But it's a bit of a different story rather than "just" the war.
That is a very Sean Penn look on the poster
Oh, and a very Sean Penn role.
Like, the dude's an immense asshole in that film.
I can predict the plot
22:02
> Couldn't let it rest, could you? You had to push it.
> Go to hell, Sir!
Actually Vietnam might make for an interesting topic challenge. It's a bit of a dark topic, but we did WWI before, too. And there's a lot of great movies, especially since it fell right into New Hollywood.

YasskierIn the "It - second chapter", when Richie is going through the Derry alone, he visits the old arcade and the park with the Paul Bunyan statue. When Pennywise appears, he starts teasing Richie saying that I know your secret, your dirty, little secret! What was this secret? The scene in ar...
