With the release of Ghost in the Shell Hollywood is remaking a one of the most acclaimed Japanese anime. So in order to celebrate its original version and its entire art form and due to popular demand we're starting a new topic challenge. From 2017-04-01 00:00 UTC to 2017-04-09 23:00 UTC we're ch...
Given an image, either as input (possibly in RGB triplets) or with the filename as input (you may assume the image has a specific filename, possibly without an extension), output an image representing a single color channel of the image.
You will also take another input, representing which chann...
Kingpin tells the guards to release Punisher, why doesn't he simply tell them to release him instead? He says something about playing the "long game", what could be meant by this?
In the 2004 movie "A Series of Unfortunate Events", on the dashboards of both Olaf's and Poe's cars is what appears to be a small open reel tape player. While I am sure they were never equipment in any real car, placed to help make the setting more surreal, I have to wonder about the artifacts th...
Books? nitroglycerin is 19th century technology. Soap is prehistoric. — Yorik7 hours ago
Does something being around for a long time automatically mean that everyone knows everything about it?
I was kind of hoping for an answer to this question that has to do with the boy scouts or something since Tyler mentions something about being in the boy scouts, but...okay.
@MovieReel Escapes using dental floss? Austin Powers. Duh ;)
I have seen a near exact reproduction of the book 'The Count Of Monte Cristo'. It was made in a short miniseries when they were producing 'movie events' that lasted a few nights. This one was 3 or 4 nights where I possibly missed the first night. The time frame it was made I would say lands aroun...
This is probably the first horror movie I ever watched. It would have been before 1999 I was probably about 4 and I sneaked and watched it until my parents caught me and sent me to bed. My memory may be foggy because it was quite long ago but this is what I remember. It also could possibly be bef...
I remember seeing a desert war movie on TV as a kid (I'm 46). There was a scene where a man has to retrieve a battery or maybe a radio to put in another vehicle. The battery he retrieves was from a broken down desert war ambulance (which I think was burned). I thought the actor was Yul Brynner,...
In M.A.S.H, Hawkeye Pierce say this words in Surgical Tent When he heard moaning in the Radio:
Hawkeye Pierce: Looks like Dr. Frank Burns is doing a bit of
dilatation and curettage.
I googled this words but it is way different from moaning meaning.

Trying to identify a movie that was showing on TV around the 1990/2000s. Apologies in advance for the vagueness, I only remember short scenes of the movie.
The plot involved Vats/Tanks with fleshy masses being grown inside - I believe by human scientists. This was done in a Dark Industrial looki...
Yep! I just stay here at work. We can either sleep in the staff room with extra beds or there is like a studio apartment for us when we need to sleep. The surgeons get first dibs on it, but if they don't need it, then we get it. I get it at 1am!! Yay!!
In M.A.S.H, Duke has something in his hand & say this words:
Doctor! Doctor! You forgot your shingle, Doctor.
In English, Shingle means chicken pox, but Duke holding different thing in his hand.
@AJ Well, my fridge was getting mighty empty, so I tried to actually make a living for once. But I'm quitting tomorrow because you gotta make time for hobbies! And SE is my top priority!! :)
Remembered what this was, BTW. It's in a couple of old answers (one of them mine) but the Q's are a bit different, so don't know whether to dupe it or not. Might just put up a new one.
In Spirited Away, the witch Yubaba gives Chihiro a puzzle so that she and her parents go back to human world.
In the puzzle, a herd of pigs, that may or may not contain her parents, was presented before her and she was asked to identify her parents. After a while, she guessed that her parents we...
In Spirited Away, Chihiro is tested to identify her parents from a group of pigs. Chihiro answers that none of them are.
Good. But how did she come to that conclusion? Surely it made sense to say that none of them were her parents (they're pigs, after all ;D), but is there not a clue or any othe...

@AJ Spirited Away is inspired by numerous myths, stories and legends (lots of Alice in Wonderland allusions, for instance). IIRC this scene is inspired by a fairy tale where a witch tries to similarly trick a princess and turns her beloved into various animals, but the princess recognizes him because she tied a string to his wrist or something. But I forget the specifics
@AnkitSharma On second thought, I'm not sure I will. The SF&F answers combined pretty much contain what I would've written. But basically, one of the most amazing things about SA is Chihiro's character arc. Who she is in the end is completely different from who she was in the beginning. She's much wiser, more experienced and determined and less naive; she basically grows up in the span of two hours. So it makes sense that she would know this.
In Harold & Maude, Maude says these words to Harold about age:
Maude: Good time to move on, don't you think?
Harold:I don't know.
Maude: Well, I mean, 75 is too early... but at 85 you're just marking
time. You may as well look over the horizon.
So What is the meaning of this wor...
I watched the movie Indigation, a love story of Marcus Messner and Olivia Huttons. One thing about the story I can't understand is why and how Marcus Messner joined the army while he was ambitious to become a barrister.
In Harold & Muade, Harold gave her a small gift to maude:
Maude:This is the nicest present...that I've received in years.
Maude: (She threw the gift)
Maude: So I'll always know where it is.
What is the meaning of Maude words to Harold after throwing the gift?
OMG! What? Walt just rolls up in here after being gone and throws out an ID answer just like that! God! :P
Ohhhhh...so, this is a busy time for Walt, huh? He must be an accountant! Just because I would think that meth manufacturers would be busy all year. Wait...unless, he's like Ben Affleck in The Accountant!! Noooooooooo!!!! ;)
@AJ Er...I don't know what you mean. I know that we Americans need to have our income taxes filed and turned into the U.S. Government by April 15 for the previous year. So, from January - April 15, most accountants are busy.
I remember it was focused on a group of teenagers:
a very short blonde female, fairly certain height was a focus of at
least one episode, wore a blue dress
a short blue(?) haired male
a tall male geek, possibly with glasses
a pink haired female, wore a pink top, blue trousers and platform shoes...
I'm sure that nobody has taxes like the U.S. does. I was trying to explain it to Napoleon a while ago. We get taxes deducted from our wages and we have to file our taxes with the Government each year, still. We still have to pay taxes at the end of the year even though we have paid taxes out of our paychecks throughout the year...well, at least some of us do. <points to self> ;-(
While puzzling some Morse code
I heard an outburst from the

and jotted it down.

What do you suppose they shouted?

I am sorry in advance for the lack of specifics, it's been probably 10+ years since I've seen this movie.
What I remember is the theme of the movie is in medieval times. I'm pretty sure it was low budget and (may) have been based off a book/play - but I'm not quite sure.
There is one scene is r...
@user22792 govt don't take it directly like that but if not filed tex right and you got in radar then they can raid you u and we have so many service charges etc too
In the final episode of Season 1 in Legion, the Shadow King leaves David body and finds another host in Oliver, then Oliver (possesed) leaves the facility and get away.

In Code Geass: Akito the Exiled, what exactly are Leila's Geass powers, her geass bird symbol was not red but blue:
The only character who had blue geass eyes in Code Geass universe was Jeremiah:
