Q: an old movie about a boy who sells condom as a balloon

Hong Yun Kimthis was a movie of 70~90ish, and it was a color not a B&W. I'm not sure of the plot of the whole movie, and where it made as well. But a boy was a main character and his parent sold condoms in their shop which became sensational in their small town. I remember a scene his mother shows people ho...

Q: Unusual Death in Django Unchained (Female death censoring?)

Nex TerrenSpoilers ahead. Near the end of the movie the title character shoots several people from the balcony. They have (relatively) realistic knock back/falls from the shots; the fall down and move slightly back. He then shoots the main villain's sister, Lara Lee Candie-Fitzwilly. However her death is ...

@AnkitSharma I agree. I was totally kidding ;)
@NapoleonWilson I watched the Hard Knocks episode about the guy who believes in mermaids. Hilarious. Now, I need to choose between Batman&Robin or Red Dragon. Hmmm... hard choice ;)

There was some news about some girl admitted to hospital because of it and her mother did it due to beauty pageant
@steelerfan Is red dragon that bad?

Yeah, it's amazing what girls do to be thin ;)
@AnkitSharma Oh, I think that it's great!
@AnkitSharma That's complete bs that her mother did that to her, though. It's one thing if we do it to ourselves, but that's f-ed up.

5:37 AM
Rumors are that TBBT cast hates Kaley and do not want her on the show. Hmm interesting.

6:13 AM
@steelerfan Then why you sorting it on same place with batman & robin
Maybe I misinterpreted your msg

A J
@NapoleonWilson Just read your answer to Bond opening sequences. Nice and detailed one. On the sidenote, that user hasn't come back after posting question.

@AJ People do that all the time but at-least that question have good positive score now with good answers

A J
That question is also in hot network list.

Hmmm

A J
This user has had nice beginning.
@AnkitSharma Not coming back after posting a question actually makes me not to post an answer to users specific questions.

6:37 AM
@AJ SE is more a community driven site then user centric
So acceptance shouldn't bother you much, upvote are better in expressing goodness in answers

^ Sound like valid question to me

6:58 AM
Ufff votes ended again and I still left too much pending stuff

@AnkitSharma Because I was totally being facetious. Those two movies are complete opposite in terms of awesomeness.

Uffff, never get weird US/UK humor

Sorry. I was just joking around about it :(

No need to be sad for my disability to understand random jokes ;)
Timt to craft my superman/flash reference question

No worries. I'm used to it with Napoleon ;)

Q: Title of World War 2 movie about a group of soldiers trying to get one guy to location to help end the war?

LeeWhile watching a DVD, I saw a preview of a World War 2 movie. One guy in the movie tells a group of guys that if they can get him safely to a certain location they can help end the war (or something to that effect). Guessing it was made in the 90s/00s. It is an American film and the soldiers see...

@steelerfan poor soul got bothered by mod a lot ;)

@NapoleonWilson Argh!
@AnkitSharma Hehehe!
@AJ How do you know that they didn't come back?

A J
@steelerfan I noticed.

@AJ Oh, I didn't know if they said that they were leaving or something.

Done with my question

A J
7:14 AM
They do not say anything actually about leaving. They just don't come back. Most are new users like the user who asked MPAA warning question.

@AJ Or whole bunch of ID don't give a shit to ur site Users

Well, hopefully they come back. Hopefully Napoleon didn't scare them away ;)

Poor nap

Awww. He knows that only playing with him.

Q: When did Brandon Routh mention his time as Superman in The Flash?

Ankit SharmaFrom Wikipedia page about Superman curse Routh eventually played recurring character Ray Palmer (The Atom) on other DC Comics-related projects, Arrow and The Flash. (In The Flash, characters even make veiled references to his time as Superman.) When did that reference to Superman Returns oc...

7:17 AM
I didn't even think his comment was bad at all. I don't know.
@AnkitSharma +1 :)

@MovieReel Wow 2 upvote before it even reached chat, didn't occurred to me before I suppose
@steelerfan Agreed, people have hard time understanding long comments

A J
I neither watched The Flash nor Superman, so typical to answer.

@AJ I watched both but missed that reference. On the sidenote I never liked that Superman Returns

@AnkitSharma Yeah. People also misinterpret comments, especially from Napoleon. I have misinterpreted them before as well. I totally understand.

A J
@AnkitSharma So did I (the sidenote).

7:20 AM
And I don't even like Brandon Routh as superman or as Atom but I do want to tarck taht reference
@steelerfan His jokes even sound too serious ;)
Someone canceled his upvote to my question :(

A J
@steelerfan Happens. Even my jokes sound serious.

But I am sure it's not going to be in HNQ and i think @steelerfan knows why ;)

@AnkitSharma Exactly! People misinterpret that as him being a d*ck...I guess I just know him well enough to know when he's being serious or not. Maybe I don't...I don't know ;)
@AnkitSharma You didn't put "sex" in the title! Dammit!!
@AnkitSharma Awww. Wasn't me.

@steelerfan Like how can Brandon Routh's version of superman able to make Lois pregnant with his alien dick ?
@steelerfan I didn't even expected more then 2 upvote , so not a big deal ;D

"When did Brandon Routh mention his sex life during his time as Superman in the Flash?" Boom! There's your HNQ! ;)

A J
7:27 AM
@steelerfan HNQ?
hot network question

@steelerfan Answer will be no he didn't but HNQ will be surely done
@AJ yes
@AJ WE have a theory that 18+ question have more chances to reach HNQ

@AnkitSharma Hahaha! Wow. That's two days in row that we have had dick talk in here ;)

A J
Like why adult flims are called blue films and Kirk and Uhura's kiss
I noticed this many times.

@AJ Exactly! HNQ Baby!

@AJ I only noticed hinduism.se once in HNQ and that was for masturbation question with my own answer ;)

7:29 AM

I still laugh on those comments under my masturbation answer

Q: What does Hinduism say about masturbation?

Kiran RSSemitic religions such as Islam and Christianity consider masturbation to be a sin. What about Hinduism? Please give some authentic quotes for the answers.

Sure...who wouldn't ;)

here are the deleted comments if u wish to read
Kiran's comment was the charm ;D

HAHAHA! Hilarious.
I liked the one about positions. Really? For masturbation? Lol.

7:34 AM
Detailing is important ;)
We scarred away poor @AJ

Yeah...I really need to switch positions. I need to spice things up for my partner myself :P

Who can blame him? ;)
Maybe a topic change, then ;)

A J
@AnkitSharma Actually I was busy reading that

You mean talk about female bodyparts then ;D

No wonder why you got more upvotes than accepted answer
and there you go
+1

I should remember I am still in office

Sure, we have already discussed dicks...why not ;)

@AJ My answer was first and reached HNQ after my answer

A J
@AnkitSharma Oh

Ankit is the King of HNQ's!

A J
7:38 AM
My questions were in HNQ, but none of them have such reference.

@steelerfan I just know the secret ;D

Hehehe!

A J
@AnkitSharma You really guided OP. ;)

@AJ My top HNQ were also not all 18+, only very very few

Yeah, it's more of an inside joke ;)

Q: What is the best order to watch LotR/Hobbit franchise?

Ankit SharmaI have not watched any of the entries in the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit franchise and as per my knowledge The Hobbit's story occurs before LotR but the release order is different. So for better understanding should I go with the Hobbit trilogy first or should I go with release order?

and the question Why-adult-films-are-called-blue-films was on my mind, but skipped it.

Q: What was the origin of the meme where Batman slaps Robin?

Ankit SharmaI have seen meme of Batman slapping Robin so many times. I really want to know the origin of it. When did it occur in comics, and why did he even slap him? Note: Spoilers are welcome.

Have nothing 18+ in them
And I still haven't checked hobbit/LoT yet

@AnkitSharma Haha! I was reading your answer and I thought that it said the "taste" of sex rather than the "treatise" of sex. Oh my.

@steelerfan oh lord

7:45 AM
@AnkitSharma Da...wut? I'm trying to understand how this position is even achieved that you described.

I just answered that question for fun, I was not mod of that site when I answered that and it got lots of upvote and very less downvotes so I went wild with comments

A J
@AnkitSharma over 150k views. How many days it was on HNQ?
?

@AJ I really don't remember
Suggest order of recent released film's franchise do get lots of Importance
Was there any ToW about it and I still lost it O.o let me check

Q: Why didn't Bilbo become a creature like Gollum?

Faizan RabbaniIn The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, it is shown that Bilbo keeps the ring for almost 60 years, not as much as Gollum (who kept it for centuries). But still Bilbo remains totally unaffected by the powers/burden of the ring. Why didn't Bilbo develop characteristics that Gollum dev...

And it still have way more votes then my question

@Walt hello

@DrRDizzle Oh, do do hear of it. Highly recommended.
@AJ Hello there!
@AJ Brief visit, mfraid. I see you guys were all chatty
@AnkitSharma Did you find that movie? I see you were looking for me a while back. Let me know if you need any help
[Lunacy] Unless he put extra emphasis on the word, then put air quotes around it and winked at the camera, I might have to concur with @Catija :P

A J
@Walt Seems Like a new question for you.

@AJ Nah, I saw it yesterday, just didn't respond
Doesn't strike me at all as that obscure a word, especially coming from someone like Watney

A J
New user's ID question mentions:
She had long black hair , black eyes , white skin , about 1.65 m - 5' 5'' height , normal weight .. Her boyfriend was white , tall , 1.88 m - 6' 2'' height , short black haired , had a beard and muscled .

@Walt I just completely forgot about the premises

@AnkitSharma Cool, less work for me ;)

@AJ I think you're just reading the singles ads

Q: A British drama movie made in between 2003 - 2013

abacakI'm looking for a British drama movie . The theme was several people's daily life in a poor neighborhood in London . I guess it was a South London , because people and the apartments were in a really bad condition . The theme was like New York I love you (2008) , Valentine's day (2010) , Scenes...

8:54 AM
Oh, holy crap, you were serious
@MovieReel Er. Night On Earth. No, McGovern's Moving On. No, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Seems good detailed ID to me
Even if I ignore matrimony part

@AnkitSharma Detailed and then some ;)
But I'm in work mode and can't think straight :(
Seeya guys later!

@Walt BYe
Unfortunately I can't upvote this ID :/

@AJ I submitted my edit and it automatically rejected yours
Sorry for that

No worry

Our edits looks complete identical to me

Yes. I actually edited it while reviewing first posts.

I have too much old stuff to review but don't have votes left, so not doing the rest

A J
None of the review queues?

@AJ I mean questions from the day when I was on vacation

A J
9:11 AM
@AnkitSharma Oh now I see where you have used votes. There are not usually much question/answers to vote.

@AJ Usually when I am free, I use to track old random question too, mostly what I have seen recently

@AnkitSharma No.
@AJ Meh.

@NapoleonWilson Then I shoudl avoid discussing s03 with you ;)

@AJ And he won't ever. I knew that beforehand. though.

@MovieReel [Nevermind, I do know this, now that I read it all properly]

9:17 AM
@Walt Is it as depressing as it sounds.

@AJ Well, then again, acceptance really doesn't mean much at all. The community still appreciates your answers.

@DrRDizzle Nobody Knows?

@Walt Yeah.

It floored me. Which rarely happens.
Though from that list, Cache and A Seperation came close

Judging from that brief synopsis on iMDB, I don't think I want to watch it.

9:20 AM
@steelerfan Because the user is part of a humunguous collection of one-shot users (which are probably all the same person anyway).

@DrRDizzle If it's not your thing, that's cool. But I won't trust IMDb's synopses if my life depended on it :P

@steelerfan Why do you say that? :'(
@steelerfan Yeah, I guess so.

@Walt The synopsis simply says that a boy has to look after his siblings when his mother disappears. Is that not accurate?

@DrRDizzle Wow, that's some lame synopsis then
But that's the gist of it, I guess

I'll add it to the list. I'm hoping I'll have more time to watch more movies when I'm settled in my new house.

9:22 AM
@AnkitSharma I was more concerned about my first, now deleted, comment, which just said "there's not much significance beyond tradition", which might have been interpreted by people as saying the question is crap, which it is not. But anyway, that user never ever read any comments actually. I was more concerned about the voters.

IMDb synopsis written by weird users, they varies from good, bad to worse.
Ufff, I gone to SFF after days and I started another discussion about tags

@DrRDizzle All I can say is that if you're looking for character development, this is probably the most you'll ever get in a movie, ever. It beats Boyhood with both hands behind its back.

@Walt Never seen boyhood but ti sounds quite psoitive

But I'll stop waxing philosophical before I get fired :/
@AnkitSharma Nice avatar, BTW :)

Has anyone put any thought into making their own top 10 films of the 21st Century List yet?

9:26 AM
@Walt Yeah, blame @steelerfan :)

@AnkitSharma Why?
@DrRDizzle Do they have to be from that list?
I've already mentioned three, anyway

@Walt God no.

@AnkitSharma I mean, I'll gladly blame her, but what's the context? :P

@Walt She tricked me to add Lost boys in my watchlist and then greenlighted my wish to change the dp to Jason Patric

@DrRDizzle Will require a little thinking then

9:29 AM
@Walt Agreed. I'm struggling to name just 10.

@AnkitSharma Oh, you never saw it before?

@DrRDizzle Why don't we make similar pole and make it movies meta post?

@AnkitSharma I don't know how to do any of that.

@Walt Not the original but did checked and liked the first sequel

@AnkitSharma Meh.

9:32 AM
@DrRDizzle Why are we already summing up this century, BTW? Any upcoming apocalypse I'm unaware of (except whatever's going on in the elections)?

@Walt That BBC poll is why.

@NapoleonWilson Not that bad idea we did similar pole for oscar film then whyn't do similar poll to BBC. Seems nice idea for community involvement to me

They did a "top 100 films of all time" list and got concerned that there were so few modern films on it, so they also asked the same (and more) people for just this century.

@Walt BBC did same

@DrRDizzle Maybe they're just sensing that movies are getting exponentially worse :P

9:33 AM
@Walt I can't even begin to express how much I disagree with that statement, even if you said it in jest.

@AnkitSharma God, I totally forgot there was one. Those were brighter, simpler times :(

21st century is newest and more user might feel like to involve in it but voting for single movie will be bad idea, we should go for ranking like SE election do and tehn results
@Walt There are two but the last one scared me form Borden just from poster, not going to check it ever. Anyway lost boys TV show is under development

@AnkitSharma Blech. Don't tamper with the classics

@Walt But they can still make it good
Take stranger things for an example, It's really good show set in 80s paying homage to lots of stuff

@AnkitSharma I haven't bothered yet
@DrRDizzle Snacks are getting better, though, so it evens out

9:38 AM
My current list is City of God, The Departed, The Darjeeling Limited, Hot Fuzz, The Dark Knight, Up, The Raid: Berandal, The Hateful Eight and Creed. I need one more, but it's so hard.

@Walt You are missing a good thing

I'm considering Green Room, but then my list skews a little too new.

@DrRDizzle Cool. I don't think we'll have any in common though :) [Though some of those are nice, sure]

@Walt I'd be surprised if many people and more than one or two in common, to be honest. There have been a lot of great films released over the last 16 years.

@DrRDizzle Skew away, there are no rules to this

9:41 AM
@Walt That's true. My only concern is that my list skews new simply because I've seen those films more recently though, not because they are genuinely better.

@DrRDizzle Good point

I am really invested in creating movies.se poll simialr to BBC. What you gusy think @steelerfan @NapoleonWilson @iandotkelly @DrRDizzle @Walt @AJ ??

@DrRDizzle ...Though I'm actually struggling to think of a movie I saw in the past year for this list, so I might not have that problem

@AnkitSharma Go for it.

@AnkitSharma Sure, seems fun

9:43 AM
@Walt Sure, the answer's still nice, though.

A J
@AnkitSharma nice idea

@NapoleonWilson Oh, there's an answer?

Ooooh, Snowpiercer and Whiplash are both contenders now.

@AnkitSharma Well, meta isn't really made for stuff like that. We did the "best in 2014" one, which was an exception and we could have done that for the following years. But this 21st century thing seems a little arbitrary to me.

@DrRDizzle Hot Fuzz is an interesting choice. If I could cheat and go for the entire trilogy, it might make it to the top 15 or something

9:44 AM
What's the occasion? I don't know what on earth a BBC is.

@DrRDizzle I was impressed with the former and very impressed with the latter, yeah

@Walt I'm trying to keep a "one film per director limit", otherwise my entire list would be comprised of almost just Edgar Wright.

@AnkitSharma If you could somehow integrate it into the site (like we did with the chat event), it could work better.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is a British public service broadcaster. It is headquartered at Broadcasting House in London, and is the world's oldest national broadcasting organisation and the largest broadcaster in the world by number of employees, with over 20,950 staff in total, of whom 16,672 are in public sector broadcasting; including part-time, flexible as well as fixed contract staff, the total number is 35,402. The BBC is established under a Royal Charter and operates under its Agreement with the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. Its work is funded principally...

But this way it might just open the door for meta to become a place for arbitrary off-topci dicsussions.
We don't migrate recommendation questions to meta either.

9:47 AM
This can be just one exceptional case
And that BBC poll is really getting good attention and we can use some of it here

I think anything that might encourage a discussion and greater interaction between the community is ultimately a good thing. Plus, it's interesting!

@DrRDizzle Did BBC did qualifying rounds too or it's open for every film in 21st century

@AnkitSharma Just be sure to make it primarily about the community and less about the films.

@AnkitSharma Every single film was up for nomination.

...I could only think of 8 candidates so far, and 4 of them are Asian

9:50 AM
@Walt Can you share it if not wanted keep it under wraps

@AnkitSharma Then at least make sure to reference it, so people know the occasion.

Oh, wait, Spirited Away. Make that five

My final list ended up being City of God, The Departed, The Darjeeling Limited, Hot Fuzz, The Dark Knight, Up, The Raid: Berandal, Whiplash, The Hateful Eight and Creed. I'm 100% sure this will be different in just a few hours though. Such is life.

@DrRDizzle That will be difficult to add in a poll. Or we can do facebook like poll where anyone can add there new suggestions too, I am confused

Do documentaries count?

9:51 AM
@AnkitSharma We could just have people post their list, and then aggregate is in the same way the BBC did. Top spot is worth 10 points, second is worth 9, third 8 etc...

@DrRDizzle Except dark knight, none can break my top 10 list

@Walt Yes. I believe that The Act of Killing or The Look of Silence was in the top 10 on the BBC poll.

@DrRDizzle Now it's even harder :(

@DrRDizzle That will be a lot of work but still a good idea.

ShrugEmoticon. I just think it would be a bit of fun.

9:54 AM
...Forget Asian, all of my movies are also foreign so far. Whoa

@Walt I want to see!

@DrRDizzle me too

@DrRDizzle I'm going by my IMDb ratings. But it's incomplete
In the 2000s, I gave a perfect 10 to 3-Iron, Yi Yi, Nobody Knows, In the Mood for Love, Cache, Spirited Away and A Separation
...and wait! Also to Ratatouille! So one US movie hurray

@DrRDizzle Sounds like the most reasonable approach.

I guess I'll have to search my 9's too

9:58 AM
@Walt I've never quite understood the acclaim that Ratatouille has enjoyed. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but I'd still consider it to be one of Pixar's worst. I think I maybe just don't "get it".

@DrRDizzle It's certainly their best written film

Well, it's just one 'o those animated things anyway. Nice, but not too nice, and nothing a life-action film couldn't accomplish either.

But I know people who don't get it either

See, I just don't see that. It's a nice story about a rat who wants to be a cook, but for me it's lacking the depth and emotional maturity and theme of films like Toy Story, The Incredibles, Up, Wall-E...

I do love Ratatouille but i can't pick it as my top 10 or even top 25, maybe 50 too

10:01 AM
@NapoleonWilson You are to animation what @Randal'Thor is to films. A menace :P

@DrRDizzle It's more about plot structure. And it's about the struggles of an artist, which many movies tried to do and most of them failed

Mine will be Watchmen, Memento, dark knight for sure, rest I need work to think
Maybe brockback mountain or maybe not

Oh my God.

I'll pick Wall-E too as the emotional choice, though, sure. And Toy Story 2.

I forgot about Ghibli
Howl's Moving Castle should probably be on that list.

10:04 AM
@DrRDizzle I will pick wall-e from the list only for top contenders, rest were just good for my list

I'm excited to see everyone's lists.

I need to leave SFF tag talk to concentrate on poll and how to implement it
@DrRDizzle You might hate mine ;D

What about Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring though.
What about Children of Men.

@DrRDizzle never seen

What about Inception, or The Prestige.
So many films!

10:09 AM
@DrRDizzle prestige can make it for me but inception might not secure top 10 or mayeb 25

Sorry, that was random :P

lol

@DrRDizzle Inception... Hmm. I'll mull it over

@Walt I do expect that from you

Food break, nice chatting to you guys
Good lock with the poll

10:12 AM
@Walt I am not going to make it officially till tonight
Ooops I forgot Donnie Darko

@AnkitSharma ¬_¬

And I might watch some urgent ones form pending list first

@AnkitSharma I can almost guarantee my list will be 80% different by that point. I'm going to have a long look through my DVD/Blu Ray collection when I get home.

akdsouzaThe episode in question is S03E06 "The One With The Flashback". At the bar, Rachel is having a conversation with her friends while Monica & Chandler are hanging out together. A while later Rachel & Monica briefly catchup but Rachel does not comment about Monica's weight loss. It is apparent that ...

@DrRDizzle What about Attack The Block?

@DrRDizzle No, I like and appreciate animation films. I just don't run around and call 'em groundbreaking story-wise, since they're not.

I want Mean Girls in the list ;)
Why every list have Mulholland Drive, anybody here seen it?

I have, it's nice, and totally weird, like a Lynch film.

Is it worth it to check before making my list?

@AnkitSharma @NapoleonWilson I think both are the same users.

@NapoleonWilson Some are. You act like animation is a lesser form of story-telling to live action, or at least that's the impression I get from you, rightly or wrongly.
@AnkitSharma I like that, but I've only seen it once.

Oh I should have mentioned it in other room.

@DrRDizzle Well, I don't. I just don't act as if it's a higher form of story-telling. A story that every second live-action film told a thousand times in the past doesn't get original and groundbreaking because it's told by animated people now.

@AnkitSharma I haven't seen it, but I have seen Eraserhead, which made me want to never watch a David Lynch film ever again.

@AJ No, it's fine here.

@NapoleonWilson I don't think anyone here acts as if animation automatically makes something better. What I love about the Pixar films I mentioned earlier is exactly what I said - the depth, emotional maturity and themes of the films, not the fact that they are animated.

@DrRDizzle I get the impression from you that you don't actually like, enjoy or even want to watch about 90% of the films you watch, but I guess that's inaccurate, too. Such is it with subjective impressions. ;-)

The fact that Pixar often break new technical grounds while telling great stories is nice, but it's ultimately secondary to the stories they are telling.
@NapoleonWilson 90% seems high, even for an over-exaggeration. I'm sure I give more positive reviews than negative ones.
Hell, the review I'm writing right now is nearly entirely positive.

@DrRDizzle Sure, and I'm saying those themes aren't really that unique and not to be found in many other films. Sometimes people just value them somehow higher because they're in an animated film now. Maybe you don't.

@NapoleonWilson Does a theme have to be unique for it to be handled incredibly well? I don't think so.

@DrRDizzle For the purpose of over-exaggeration it actually seemed a little low to me.

Toy Story is, when we get down to it, a buddy movie with the theme of fear of redundancy running though it. Neither of those things are unique - what makes Toy Story so great is how well it deals with the main theme, the characters of the film, and the emotions generated.

Meh, I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I liked Rango and Inside Out. Wall-E was nice, too, I guess.

I haven't seen Rango, but I've heard good things.
I actually think Inside Out is a lesser Pixar though.

@NapoleonWilson I like rango and wall-e. Inside out is good but way overrated for my taste
And I do think when animation do mature stuff which have been done in 100+ films already. It get bit more attention then it deserve

Most of (computer-)animated fare I see is largely forgettable to me, though, while being a nice entertaining thing you can watch now and then.

Q: In “The One With The Flashback”, why is the Bar empty yet operational when Ross & Phoebe hang out?

akdsouzaIf you've watched the episode, Phoebe is at the bar and Ross arrives moments later, informing her of Susan being a lesbian. The entire bar since the start of this scene is empty! There's not even a bartender as Ross proceeds to make himself several drinks to drown his sorrow. What kind of a 'buff...

So maybe I do think Pixar is a little overrated on the internet.
