Q: Real name of demons in Supernatural

Muxammil BashirWhat is the real name of the girl possessed by the demon in first season of supernatural. She introduces herself as Meg but is that the real name of the girl too? Apart from this, when all the demons introduce themselves, do they use their own name or the name of the person they are possessing?

Q: How is a hanging scene filmed?

CommuSoftNeedless to say that there are a lot of movies that contain a scene where a person is hanged, or commits suicide by hanging. How are such scenes produced? How to both ensure the safety of the actor as well as make it realistic on tape. In other words: "what is the state of the art when it comes ...

Q: Please identigy an old action movie

ChromeedaOK, I'd be really, really glad to find the title of this film, which I've watched only once, as a kid. Chronologically: a space cop, or a bounty hunter, who is a human, but much smaller than Earth humans arrives on Earth, at the home of a lone woman. He wields a powerful pistol and is attacked b...

I'm not justifying questions that seem like zero effort was put into them. But food for thought:
1. Not everyone outside the Western world (or some even *in* it) would consider Google & IMDb as gospel and make it their home page and\or their 1st course of action.
2. Not everyone outside the US can easily recognize US films, just like I can't easily recognize Bollywood films since I know next to nothing about them.
3. When you Google keywords and an answer pops up right away, and you're amazed that an OP didn't think of that, remember that *Google results vary* based on the user. Google adap
@Walt are you answering the meta post of ID
nice answer but better put it there then here
No, this relates to the Intership question, which I actually don't think is that great and might even consider closable, but decided to tackle a few points after reading the comments to it.
ohhh.....
I think its rude to close it just because its easy to answer
Anyways its still have only one close vote
@AnkitSharma It's a fine line. ID is bad when it's too vague and it's bad when it's too obvious. But I still don't think it's trolling like that Star Wars question, I think it's genuine
Is there any room where we could talk about movies because this room seems to appear about evaluating quality of a question or an answer.
09:31
@chaitanya89 We do that sometimes too. Don't think the last couple of minutes are representative. ;)
Oh okay.
@chaitanya89 We also talked shop a lot recently because of the graduation & election, but don't let that deter you
@chaitanya89 it depends on whats hot, we discuss here from movie to election to something off topic too
Dedicated rooms are easy to make but they got closed by time due to less activity
Movie talk. Erm. I saw Short Term 12 recently and liked it :)
@AnkitSharma Might still happen
09:35
Actually I'm looking for a recommendation for movies similar to Blue valentine, Revolutionary road, Shame where the characters involve in an intense conversation about life and love.
@walt yeah, seen it too and really liked it. My fav line is like "why don't you let me take your hand and walk with you through all the struggle."
Shame ........mmm.....Nymphomaniac: Vol. I and II but its bit darker and slower then shame
@chaitanya89 Yeah, the actors sold it well, the movie could've easily been cloying
@chaitanya89 All of Linklater's Before films?
Seen them both, despite everyone bashing them and comparing them to porn, I liked them. I really liked the 2nd installment than the first.
There was an Indian movies chatroom here before but then it also got closed.

I don't know why but i though to flag it to open.
@chaitanya89 i liked them full but watched in buts and pieces, going to watch them full soon
Serioulsly, Linklater's fan, recently seen the 3rd movie of "before" series. I really liked it, especially the last 40 mins, first it started too slowly but later it picked up the pace with excellent performances.
@Ankit sorry to hear that. Would have been an active participant, if I had known about chat rooms earlier.
09:40
@chaitanya89 I'll think about it then, you seem to be well versed in this genre already ;)
@chaitanya89 i have flagged to open it, i think graduation can make it active again
Yeah, I like drama and love movies very much, I'm still unmarried and having eagerness to know more about relations.
hmmm........i am more into movie where relationship is not the primary thing
@Ankit definitely count my vote for reopening the chat room. Where can I use the vote?
@Ankit hahaha.
There's older stuff like Allen's Annie Hall & Manhattan, of course
09:44
@chaitanya89 can you go to that room
Okay, I'll add it to my watch-list. I don't care if they're old but I really would like to hear about relations from the movies.
I used moderator flag last time to open it
Um, I dunno what else, I'm blanking out. ;) Sideways?
It's in my PC, I'll add it to my priority list. you talking about paul giamatti's sideways right?
Yup
Remember it's pretty good, but it's been years
09:45
Okay, chat with you very soon regarding that movie.
It's okay, I can do sideways :)
There's also stuff that's a bit more peripheral, like Once and Safety Not Guaranteed
@Walt To invade the discussion. Yeah, while I close-voted it for being one-sentence-no-info LQ stuff, I'd probably reserve the speech used in those comments for myself or chat.
yeah I've seen them both and both are amazing, very emotional.
@ChristianRau It's just that I got an inkling that people are being attacked because they may be quote-unquote outsiders. I hope it's not the case.
@AnkitSharma Not because it's too easy, but because it's an amount of information that let's me doubt the OP has even tried to put in all details he remembered. That's what "not enough detail" is for, not answerability.
09:51
Confessing that I haven't read all the comments here, but having the pop-up get in the way isn't that bad an idea, it'd be hard to ignore like that
http://meta.movies.stackexchange.com/questions/1580/feature-guidelines-for-identify-this-questions-reposition
And for the love of god, someone slap 'Genre' on it already :P
@Walt Sure, I've upvoted it, once it was clear what the question wanted and what the existing feature couldn't provide.
@Walt Indeed, and enable it for identify-this-tv-show. Maybe one could add those requests into that question.
Or just make it editable easier, at the moment I think only SE emplyees can change anything with that.
@ChristianRau True
The effects are already showing, so more tweaks could only help
@Walt Well, I'll try to trust your word on that.
@ChristianRau It's not a massive change, and the ID volume is still problematic. But on the surface, we seem to get less one-line, lower-case rubbish now.
@AnkitSharma Yep
Anyway, see you guys later, my planet needs me. [awkwardly removed from the frame]

Q: Identify this Youtube Channel: Group of Satanist Comedians

@AnkitSharma Well, because it doesn't get auto-deleted due to positive votes. But I filed my delete vote.
Wait, how could I miss that, I didn't even downvote it. Corrected, now it should be auto-deleted over the day.
hehehhehe
i also missed it before
downvoted and closevoted
@AnkitSharma It is already closed, though, since months.

oops i mean downvoted
and delet vote
I recently went through all the closed ID questions and voted to delete the bad ones which won't get auto-deleted. But I missed this one because, well, I didn't even take that tag into consideration, let alone know we had it at all.
@AnkitSharma So Indian Movies is back, too?

Q: Who were the choices for the leading role in Total Recall (1990)?

Johnny BonesThe wiki article for Total Recall (1990) states that Patrick Swayze was originally attached to the film. Q: Identify this movie: couple has a romance, one of them jumps off a building

Filipe VI'm trying to find the name of a movie I saw someone cut and edit as a music clip online. I can't find the video so I'm looking for the original film as a result. The film was set in blue/grey tones, kinda dimly lit and the couple is having a romance. At a certain point, one of them (can't remem...

@MovieReel That's why I wanted the reference CW question on main and not meta, you can't duplicate-link to a meta question. But it's already deleted anyway.
16:08
@ChristianRau I meant another market besides American movies.
@ChristianRau I don't think it's a good fit for main, it's fine on meta. I would've closed it with a reference to the meta duplicate.
@MattD Oh, I thought you meant another market compared to the market served by the existing chat rooms. American movies don't really have a chat room at all.
@atticae You saying ID-this-image is not a good fit for main, heresy!
@ChristianRau Oh, so this isn't the German chatroom? Doh!
@atticae Das heißt Nein, verdammt!
@ChristianRau I have fought long and hard to establish this! I will not let this be torn down by our own design banner. :P
We did ban those, didn't we? It's really hard to keep an overview over all those ID categories...
16:18
@atticae Well, technically we didn't ban anything. I would doubt that there's anything, not even a meta post, that actually rules them off-topic. But it's indeed hard to keep an overview of all those different rules for all those ID topics and which have an at least a semi-definite decision and which don't.
@ChristianRau Sure there is. I am 90% sure I brought this up to a vote which was conclusive at the time, but it was never locked so the result may have changed now

Q: Declare identify-this-picture question as off-topic

atticaeWe just got another "Who is the person in this picture?" question: http://movies.stackexchange.com/questions/19208/whos-the-actress-in-the-picture This kind of question is really bad, far worse than the usual identify-this content. Here is why: The author usually does not even know for sure i...

Found it.
And yeah it's 3-3 now, so not exactly what you'd call a consensus. I am pretty sure the result was different back then.
I even marked one of them as accepted. Would hardly have done that if it wasn't conclusive. ;)
@atticae Well, I guess people grow to love 'em? (Be it only by sheer abundance.) ;-)
@ChristianRau I rather guess everyone whos question got closed with a link to this meta post went on to vote against it. :P
That's how I like to rationalize the skewed results anyway, heh.
16:42
I hope i can make it 4-2 but i can't vote.
@MattD Any recommendation for the name? We made it Bollywood before but then tried to cover whole Indian market
@AnkitSharma Can't really say anything rolls off the top of my head as far as another name. I don't really know that market well, but language wise "Indian Movies" just seems kinda bland to me. I'll likely almost never be in that room for anything serious, so yeah.
17:11
hmmm
@AnkitSharma Why can't you vote?
@atticae because they are my own answer :D
@AnkitSharma Ah, crap. :D

Q: In Suits, why doesn't Mike Ross just get a law degree?
