does anybody see questions on the DBA opening page?
yep
I remember someone else complained about questions missing from the homepage..
Phil did, yesterday. It appears that it happens from time to time.
Now I see them, too

Q: Database Already Prepared

mariosi don't know if here is the right place to ask this. I am searching for a database with German Restaurants for a web portal i am creating. Any proposals for a professional solution?

off topic :)
vtc please, I know @ypercube already did :)
done. However, the content would be interesting to me :)
@dezso How's life in Berlin now? Getting any better?
anyway, as there are at least six or seven reastaurants just in this street, it would be a bit too much to digest :)
Life has been always superb, but now we have a flat to live in, that is an improvement
The snow (or the ice into which it turned) still fights for survival
How's the wife handling the move? :)
but the wheather is getting warmer every day (by a modest half degree approx.)
she is coming today
11:33
sounds good, preparing for spring then.. :)
but should be allright
We had 20 C yesterday
@ypercube I'm getting envious.. but only until June or something :)
probably the crisis creates warmth - the same in Portugal, I know and Cyprus and...
after that you have too high temps
11:35
so you are still experiencing wintery times?
@Marian Yes, June-August is too hot to stay in Athens. I happily live in the suburbs, which is slightly better. And last year I managed to be in the mountains for about 2 months :)
I'm in Bruges now, about 4-5 C..no snow. But in Ro it's a bit colder, so yeah, winter didn't go away.
Ah! So you could jump over here going back home (if you plan so :)
@ypercube 2 months? wow.. vacation or also work? :)
@Marian both
11:41
@dezso nah, everything is already set up. Don't really have much time free, employer is busting my arse :). My boss thought I looked too relaxed and now I'm getting some payback :D. If I have any free time I'm jumping to Amsterdam, though I doubt that too.
@ypercube I visited your country 2 times for vacation. Planning on a 3rd one. Still loving it. :)
@Marian You are equidistant from Amsterdam, Paris, London and Essen. Lots of choices for short-term visits.
@ypercube yep, true. In 'dam I have a close friend, that's why the bias.

@JackDouglas A trigger to fire twice a day? Are you sure you want it here? :)
@JackDouglas LOL, the first answer comes from the same smart arse that accused Bluefeet of stealing his answer to that muddy question with changed Oracle versions. Not sure I want to see him on our site :-|.
proof here

@ypercube I know it is just frustrating to have someone accuse you of stealing their answer.

I just shrunk a database as an exigent solution to a space problem. I feel dirty. :-/
23:45
related: is it possible to do an online move of data from one data file to another? i.e. I have a 15GB data file on G:\ that I want to move to H:\ without the database going offline
you can alter index to move the clustered index to a different filegroup. If you have Enterprise Edition, you can do it WITH (ONLINE=ON) to do it without taking the table offline.
standard edition here, don't have the money for enterprise :p
ahh then you're out of luck doing it online.
you can recreate the table, copy the data, then rename the table to the name of the old table
ask the question on dba.se - you'll get lots of great answers
simpler solution: pick a database that no-one will notice is offline, then ninja-detach+copy+reattach ;)
yep, lol, the ninja option is always cool
23:58
until it blows up, yeah
really, it won't take long to move the data file if it's only 15gb... does it truly need to be online 24x7?
