No more acceptance rate on questions.

Q: Let's stop displaying a user's accept rate

BartMy feature request (or anti-feature-request perhaps) is the following: Let's stop displaying a user's accept rate. For those of you who know "Fawlty Towers", the whole issue of a visible accept rate and our behavior towards it starts to feel like "Don't mention the war!". We generally seem to ...

02:18
Awesome!
This is more like the opposite of worst practice IMHO.
0
A: odbc_exec datetime error

twoleggedhorseWhen it comes to dates, the best practice is to give the written alternative to the month - that way there is no chance that the day and month can get mixed up along the way. Try inputting the dates as string in the following format: 'dd MMM yyyy' $query = "asistencia_virtual '01 Jan 2012', '31...

@bluefeet WOW - that is a surprising turnabout, I think. Yes, it does seem to allow bad behavior. However, we do still want to encourage people to accept an answer SO THAT OTHER PEOPLE KNOW WHICH ANSWER BEST SOLVED THE PROBLEM. But I always cringe when I see people be told to work on their accept rate. I've been told to work on my accept rate - I told that user to go try to answer the questions I didn't accept an answer on.
Seriously, it's ISO for a FECKING reason
Whoever wrote that particular parser ... or rather, whoever vetted that particular date parsing format, somewhere out in old France or something, should be kicked in the head.
02:43
@billinkc you can, as long as (a) you don't use any Enterprise features and (b) you don't exceed the data file size limitation of Express (10GB for 2008 R2 & 2012).
@jcolebrand indeed. I've been yelling about this for years but Microsoft won't listen. At least the format doesn't break the new types (yyyy-mm-dd is perfectly fine when explicitly casting to DATE). However it introduces yet another inconsistency - dashes are safe for date but not for datetime. <shrug>
@AaronBertrand @billinkc and as we have our suspicions at this point, you can have 20,000+ instances (probably not all attached at once) on SQLExpress ;-)
@AaronBertrand What I don't get is how people don't just intuitively grasp the concept of "least to most specificity"
year -> month -> date -> hour -> minute -> second -> subdivisions of seconds
It's so pure, I'm sure a child could figure out that was the best way to find non-colliding indexing of dates.
@jcolebrand because 'merica uses m/d/y which defies that logic entirely.
@AaronBertrand yes, much to my consternation for all eternity
Then again, we also eschew the metric system
I mentioned in here the other day - I put 1974-02-01 on my daughter's birth certificate forms, and they messed it up (birth certificate arrived with January 2nd)
It's not like I pulled a Canadian (01/02/1974 vs 02/01/1974). That format really should be unamfuckingbiguous.
@AaronBertrand I concur
I would also like to see 17.4 L/100 km instead of 16.2 mpg where the lower number is better.
02:50
100 km/h makes a lot more sense. If something is 750 km away, you know it's going to take about 7.5 hours (since the speed on most highways is 100).
My 65 timestables are weak.
@AaronBertrand That's why you try to drive at 100mph. It makes the math easier
@AaronBertrand I estimate 60mph regardless if the interstate is 60, 65 or 70 in between, then add a half hour (or an hour if the arrival time will be roughly rush hour)
@billinkc ha, try that in the northeast - do you know what percentage of the population drives 52 in the fast lane?
@AaronBertrand 40%?
@jcolebrand at least. I pass on the right more often than I pass on the left. People are idiots.
@jcolebrand if that's what you average I hope you don't spend a lot of time in the left lane... :-)
03:00
@AaronBertrand welcome to my world ;-)
@AaronBertrand I do need to get out to the NE at some point. Been to Baltimore once and that's the extent of my experience there. The SQL Saturday in boston area conflicts with something else
@billinkc I won't be at SQL Saturday Boston either.
@AaronBertrand I invariably run up on patches of slow traffic, have to weave through them, and re-accelerate. I've found that this estimate of travel time usually allows me to arrive early, but sometimes I'm reduced to "right on time". I also get plenty of time to stop for piss breaks and stretching my legs.
@jcolebrand you're old
probably
I do have to have PSA tests done every few months >.<
03:03
@jcolebrand Yikes, glad I didn't make any inappropriate but sounds like medically accurate jokes
lol
Nah, I just have Low-T. The depression like negative side effects are ridiculous.
@jcolebrand That's better than having prostate cancer/tumors. #brightside
True, but the medicine can cause PSA to spike, so they monitor for it, it being a precursor to other issues that should be cautiously regarded.
Unrelated but it kicks ass

@jcolebrand personally I prefer 6.4 L/100 km :)

Q: What's a good client tool to access Oracle RDBMS?

A TGood afternoon, I'm looking for a good client tool to replace "Oracle SQL Developer" (the tool I currently use) which supports Oracle DB 10g, 10gR2, 11g Running SQL code Debugging SQL code (with walk-through... click error, jumps to error line) Do you know of one (preferably free)? Thanks f...

@Roy I think one copy of questions like this can be fully acceptable
These certainly give useful information
When speaking about one copy I mean say one for every RDBMS or other tool/system of significance
As you can see, this one has over 1k views which clearly shows the interest in it
Roy
Roy
I agree, like I said in my comment on there; "Personally I find these kinds of questions both interesting and useful, as they may share valuable insight into relevant products and use cases"
But then I don't make policies around here, just trying to understand them :)
08:53
@Roy Let's invite @JackDouglas to discuss this topic .)
09:52
@Roy The problem is they can quickly degenerate into spam traps for link farmers. Also, keep in mind that the focus of SE sites is fact over opinion. Shopping style questions are by their nature very subjective.
Roy
Roy
10:10
@MarkStorey-Smith Won't community moderation/voting take care of both problems?
@MarkStorey-Smith Not entirely sure I see why book, software or other product references can't be just as factual (or not) as any other aspect of the site.
Anyone experienced an out of memory exception in Sql server 2008 r2 standard? I read in the following link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/cc645993(v=sql.105).aspx that it can utilise 64gigs of memory, so i decided to run a "select *" query in ssms to see if i could max it out. In task manager its only showing 855mb and then im getting this error.

Any ideas on why its maxing out so soon?
@Roy My opinion on what constitutes good will likely differ from yours, and from the next guy. It's not what SE is for.
@HansRudel SSMS OOM exception or SQL Server OOM
Roy
Roy
@MarkStorey-Smith Same might be true for a solution to any given problem and SE is entirely based on user opinions
@MarkStorey-Smith I am assuming its an SSMS exception (i might be wrong) as its displayed in the "Messages" tab in ssms. This is the actual error "An error occurred while executing batch. Error message is: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
"
Roy
Roy
@MarkStorey-Smith I'm just not sure that product references tied to use cases are any more opinionated than any other "how may I accomplish this" kind of question. :)
10:24
@Roy The SE network disagrees with you :)
And by that, I mean the people who started and run it
Roy
Roy
@MarkStorey-Smith Ayway, my question was about that particular question, and why it has been around for a year when it very much looks like it is a violation of site policy.
Just wondering if there was something about that question that made it exempt from the general rule about shopping lists
@HansRudel Anything reported in the sql error log?
how can i access the contents of that variable?

Q: looping through a table type variable

indagoI have a function that has one parameter of a table type, i want to loop through all the fields and return the column that has a null or empty value. @MarkStorey-Smith The log from today ends at 7:4X but i experienced the error around 10ish
@MarkStorey-Smith i have 32 gigs of ram
@MarkStorey-Smith think i found the problem "SSMS is a 32bit application and as such can use no more that 2GB of memory, no matter what is available"
10:50
@HansRudel Makes sense. 850MB is danger zone for a 32bit application that isn't pristine with its memory management
@MarkStorey-Smith so i shouldnt have any issues accessing more via a c# application. Its just an issue with ssms itself?
@HansRudel Quite contrary, you'll have all sorts of problems if your writing an application that needs to consume data in 800MB chunks
Is that really what you intend or need to do?
@MarkStorey-Smith yes. I wanted to load a 3gig file into memory
@HansRudel Because?
@MarkStorey-Smith it makes life a lot easier. I know i need to set the largeaddressspace flag and compile the application to 64bit.
i thought those were the only changes i needed to do, or are there more issues specific to sql server?
10:57
@HansRudel I'm lost. You want to store a 3GB file in SQL Server, then load it from SQL to your application?
@MarkStorey-Smith yeah, to process it. The server will hold several of these time series.
@HansRudel So not a 3GB file, you mean 3GB of rows?
i.e. a large dataset, not a binary file stuffed into a table?
@MarkStorey-Smith yeah, sorry. Its 69million rows. I wasnt aware i could stuff a binary file into a table. sorry for the confusion.
@HansRudel Well it might take a while but there is nothing in SQL Server that would limit you from doing that, no
Whether you should or not is an entirely different matter :)
@MarkStorey-Smith glad to hear
@MarkStorey-Smith yeah im aware ppl frown on it, but it makes things alot easier and i figured if i have 32gigs available, why not use em
@MarkStorey-Smith thanks again for your help btw, i appreciate it.
11:12
@HansRudel no problem Hans
@HansRudel That's an error from the SSMS grid results component. Try the 'results to text' option instead - the grid is very slow and consumes a lot of memory. Better still, enable the 'discard results' option in SSMS if all you are trying to do is test the time it takes for SQL Server to send the results to the client app.
@SQLKiwi i was just looking to check that all the data had been loaded initially. Changed the query to Select top 1000 * instead. Cheer for the tip about "discard results/results to text", will make a note of that.

3 hours later…
13:59
@HansRudel not sure if this was mentioned elsewhere, but I never rely on Task Manager to tell you how much memory a process is taking. Use perfmon or one of the sysinternals tools.
@aaronbertrand, id never heard of prefmon before, just found a guide on setting it up so will have a look. Atm im having some issues with the Entity Data Model Wizard seeing my database.
@HansRudel sorry, you lost me at 'entity'
@AaronBertrand its in visual studio
@HansRudel what version of visual studio?
@zane 2010, why do u prefer 2012?
14:06
Ugh
The only one I have is 2008 and only use it for bids. Technically we have 2010 but only use it for TFS.
ahh ok
im assuming 2008 has a similar wizard?
Probably not for what I use it for. I'm usually running integration services and not just a database project.
@HansRudel ok, I'll bite. Is your database attached to an instance of SQL Server already? What is the instance name and is it on the same machine as Visual Studio? What does "having issues seeing my database" mean? Do you get a specific error message? What is it?
And what is the connection string or other method that you used to point Visual Studio at your database?
Is the there network issues preventing you from seeing the database in your project? Do you have to right login credentials to connect to that database? Or is the issue you cannot find the database in wizard to begin with?
14:14
@AaronBertrand its on the same machine. Ill send you a screen shot, 2 secs
Good morning, all
@AaronBertrand I love your reaction there. Ugh entity wizard I'm out. Ok screw it I'll help. lol
morning
@Zane well I'm not going to be able to help with any of the entity mumbo jumbo. But I'm sure it's a quite common connection problem (they always are).
Its not in the drop down list at the bottom right
yet HistoricalData is shown in the object explorer
14:18
And does your user actually has permission to the database?
yeah im using integrated security when i run ssms
Are you connecting to the same Sql Server instance?
on Management Studio it says "FRAZZMAN-PC"
On Visual Studio "FRAZZMAN-PC\SQLEXPRESS"
Bingo, FRAZZMAN-PC is a different SQL Server instance from FRAZZMAN-PC\SQLEXPRESS.
there is nothing listed in the permissions property window for historicaldata, is that the issue?

@Lamak there should only be one instance as i only installed it once
balls
so ive screwed up the installation?
@HansRudel no, you definitely have two instances of SQL Server there. Show us a screen shot of SQL Server Configuration Manager > SQL Server Services (with the "Name" column fully visible).
14:22
@HansRudel nope
Or rather, the thing you're typing into Visual Studio shouldn't have \SQLEXPRESS (whether such an instance exists or not)'
And try connecting to FRAZZMAN-PC on Visual Studio and see if HistoricalData appears :-)
@Lamak it does.
@HansRudel good
@AaronBertrand, @Lamak so how come two instances are running? @AaronBertrand im not sure how to access the configuration manager
14:26
@HansRudel go to start->all programs->Microsft SQL Server 2008->configuration tools->sql Server Configuration Manager
@AaronBertrand @Lamak

@HansRudel probably because you installed Visual Studio and accepted the default option of installing an instance of SQLEXPRESS, then installed a real instance of SQL Server.
@AaronBertrand that's my opinion too
Confirmed, you have two instances of SQL Server, and you were simply pointing at the wrong one.
14:30
if possible/should i attempt to remove the express version?
@HansRudel if you only need one instance, perhaps, but then it really depends - if you are writing software for distribution, for example, and you plan for it to run on SQL Server Express, you should develop on Express so that you don't use any features that are only supported on better editions.
@HansRudel not sure if its worth it
Might be safer to go into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services, find the SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) service, stop it, and set its startup to manual. This way it is not taking up your resources but you can fire it up if you ever need to.
Agreed
So the database HistoricalData is not on the express version though right? I just closed everything down and reopened and there is no option to select FrazMann-PC\SqlExpress
14:33
@HansRudel nope, otherwise HistoricalData would've appeared when you connected to that instance
just checking. ok, just set sqlserver(sqlexpress) to manual. If im sure i wont need the express version, can i set it disabled? I dont want to accidentally open it instead
@HansRudel yeah, no problem with that. As @AaronBertrand said, it's the safer way for you now.
Greetings, fellow Earthlings
howdy @phil
@Lamak, @AaronBertrand ok, cool. You guys are life savers, thanks so much for your time!

@Phil afternoon :)

@HansRudel no problem
@Phil hello (not sure if morning, afternoon, night or whatever over there)
Also not sure where "over there" is :-)

or
Also we have been troubleshooting some speed issues, particularly on the front page, and as a result made a bunch of changes to various plug-ins. I'd love to hear whether you found the site fast, tolerable, or frustratingly sluggish.
I want to make sure the resource is usable. Thanks in advance!
no blurryness for me nor hard to read text on Chrome and IE9
are you using a wider space for text now?, it seems as there is less wasted space now
@AaronBertrand Looks fine to me.
@AaronBertrand Looks ok here
14:48
I am suppose to put togather a plan for datawarehouse switch to Cassandra.
I'm thinking just a piece of paper with the word no on it should suffice.
@Zane I feel sorry for you
@Lamak I don't think so, though I did set the font size to > 100% (a colleague said the original size was blurry)
Holy. Schnikies.

Q: Incorporating IsNull into a CASE STATEMENT

AndrewI have the following case statement and the IsNull portion is not registering and I am curious if I have it setup correctly. CASE WHEN IsNull(2010) THEN 0 END) * CASE WHEN IsNumeric([Dur_In_Hours]) =1 THEN CAST([Dur_In_Hours] AS FLOAT) ELSE 0 END) AS Cost

CASE WHEN ISNULL(2010)? Really?
Where do you even start? You throw the guy a life preserver but he doesn't even realize he's in water.
@Lamak me too.

Q: How to aggregating like sets in SQL

alex.davis.devHow do I aggregate like sets of data. The example below shows how the raw data and desired output. DECLARE @Data TABLE (PID INT, CID INT) INSERT INTO @Data VALUES (1, 1), (1, 2), (1, 3), (3, 1), (3, 2), (3, 3), (2, 1), (2, 2), (4, 3), (4, 4), (5, 4), (5, 5), (8, 4), (8, 5), (6, 6), ...

VtC too localized - do you really see another human being trying to do the same thing?
@AaronBertrand why yes I want to do that everyday!
@dezso yes yes yes, I meant the syntax
I have told him this in so many of his questions
@Andrew you are missing the END on the first CASE statement. You always have to have CASE..WHEN..THEN..ENDbluefeet 40 secs ago
@bluefeet so start closing them as dupes of previous ones of his. Ask us to help on that.
15:16
I don't think he is missing an END, he just included additional end parentheses from what I assume is a much larger and uglier query.
@AaronBertrand so he just needs a reformat tool?
@jcolebrand I don't think it will help because he cuts small segments of large queries, and those segments won't parse on their own.
I think i am going to change my answer on this one to you are SOL

Q: Process SQL Table with no Unique Column

RahmatizadehWe have a table which keeps the log of internet usage inside our company. this table is filled by a software bought by us and we cannot make any changes to its table. This table does not have a unique key or index (to make the data writing faster as its developers say) I need to read the data in...

@bluefeet oh I see, in the updated code sample he pasted in the comment, yeah he's just not very smart. :-\
I am getting a little tired of the what have you tried comment.
15:19
@Zane at least the improve your accept rate comments will no longer happen
I've got to interview somebody for database dev - it'll be my first time conducting an interview. Any tips?
@bluefeet I didn't know that was a thing...
it was
Chances are your start up user who's posing questions that are not getting accepted only chance is by asking questions....
@Zane I think what have you tried is often a valid question. Do you know how many times I've spent 15-20 minutes crafting an answer, only to be told they'd already tried that and it wasn't an option because of <x>? And sometimes even been down-voted for it? It may come across as snarky but it's a question that shouldn't NEED to be asked.
15:23
@rfusca make him cry
@AaronBertrand solid point.
@Zane start up user wouldn't show an accept rate at all until they had <n> questions (I don't know the algorithm). So it's not like it would show 0% on their first question.
@AaronBertrand they were converting in ms access to a double
@Lamak lol well...i'll probably avoid that
@bluefeet sure, but why? INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW WHERE THIS MADNESS COMES FROM
15:24
@AaronBertrand I know but I've seen some people struggle with the format who are new users so their first few questions take an absolute beating.
@AaronBertrand he was an access user. I think the cast to float came from me initially since they needed a double
that would be my fault to tell them to use a float
@bluefeet sure, if they were using a double before, suggesting a float could be sensible. But looking closer at the column names, I want to know why this needs to be a float - especially when multiplication is involved. That could potentially be some ugly-ass output.
What is the algorithm for question ban? Somewhere between this and one more bad question?
@AaronBertrand I agree with that. It is hard to take a small piece of code and try to convert to sql server without knowing the big picture.
Anybody here use an MBP and OSX Mountain Lion? Trying to see if this replicates and is a known issue. >.< apple.stackexchange.com/questions/79861/…
15:28
@Lamak oddly you're not the only one to suggest that either
@jcolebrand I have two MBPs with Mountain Lion but I'm having a real hard time seeing the actual issue in your screen shots. Is there a pixel difference that 20/10 vision is just not picking up?
See where the window in the bottom is?
the foreground window
See how Sublime Text is like 30px from the dock?
No, I guess not. I don't see Sublime Text in the top screen shot. Is it behind Chrome? How can I tell how far it has moved?
@AaronBertrand I edited the question to add more text
Are you saying it moves over 30px?
Or 1px? Or something in between?
In this screenshot there are four things
The dock, the menu bar, the Chrome window, and the Sublime Text 2 window
Does "hid" mean "minimized"?
The Sublime Text 2 window is black with line numbers, and tabbed. Chrome is white and has an arrow.
@AaronBertrand yes, but I'm pretty sure (based on the menu options) that the parlance in OSX is "hide/unhide"
So the night before they were aligned, and when you woke only one window had moved over the width of the dock?
15:33
@AaronBertrand no, both move
@rfusca not really odd
Every app moves, if it's "full screen"
The only ones that don't are the ones that don't come close to the dock, which I think is the issue.
It's trying to "make room" for the dock icons, so it shifts the window on unhide.
@jcolebrand I just had it move if I closed the laptop with the monitor still plugged in. However, if I unplug and then close, it's fine for me
so in short can't reproduce
@DTest I unplug, then close.
Ok, I don't think I've ever used the app menu's "hide" option, I also keep my dock at the bottom. Do you have the dock set to autohide?
15:34
every. single. time.
also, my dock is on the bottom, so not sure if that would cause it
@AaronBertrand no.
@rfusca Don't ask about anything that is not pertinent to the job. Thus: marital status, religion, home town, age, etc. Seems like simple stuff but it's easy if you're trying to get a feel for their personality to ask something that could be construed as leading to discrimination.
Also, @AaronBertrand if you're not using moom.app you might want to check it out.
@jcolebrand I do have moom actually.
15:37
@rfusca Tell him about the company.
@AaronBertrand that and Fantastical are probably the only two apps I would recommend to anyone that's as new as I am.
@jcolebrand I get a lot more out of spaces.
I also like f.lux but that's just my style, and something I've used for a few years on Windows.
@AaronBertrand is that a similar app to moom? I'll have to check that out
For anyone that missed this going around and wants a giggle: channel9.msdn.com/Forums/Coffeehouse/…
@AaronBertrand same here
@jcolebrand spaces are built in - just lets you switch between multiple desktops (where app windows stay with a certain "space"). So it is easy to switch from e-mail mode to code mode etc.
@jcolebrand plus on two 30" monitors, where I do most of my work, window layout is a little more fluid.
@AaronBertrand yeah, I'm just a 27" at the office and the laptop 15" all the time. Just the basics offered by moom seems to do what I need.
@AaronBertrand wait, multiple desktop mode? I thought I couldn't find that for some reason
15:41
@jcolebrand in Mountain Lion (or maybe Lion? I forget now) they incorporated spaces into launchpad / mission control. Hit Ctrl + left-arrow or right-arrow.
@AaronBertrand I just got a 30" monitor, but I doubt I'd have room on my desk for two.
@AaronBertrand yeah, all I get when I do that is some funky grid of dots and some glued on apps, like a worldclock, etc.
@jcolebrand ... so about this feature request ...
@ConcernedOfTunbridgeWells we all have to make sacrifices in life ;-)
yesterday, by Aaron Bertrand
We need a community "favorite question" plugin where we all vow not to answer it because the asker is a jackhole.
15:44
@jcolebrand Yes, my first world problems know no bounds. It turns out that it doesn't really have 4 useful inputs either. Just two that can be either DVI or displayport ;P
@swasheck it takes time to write such a thing, and I already have one app on my plate. And besides, I'm thinking of making it have two "modes". drop me into edit so you can only edit the question from those guys, because obviously that's what they need, or return me to the front page. Because that seems like it might be best for the FR.
@swasheck However, what it sounds like you want is just a blank panel that comes up over the post when you get to the page, that says something like "help vampire behind this shield"
@ConcernedOfTunbridgeWells Yeah, I've seen that sorta thing. Annoying as feck.

For anyone that missed this going around and wants a giggle: http://channel9.msdn.com/Forums/Coffeehouse/Visual-Studio-Achievements-theyre-not-Xbox-live-right
for the funzies
I know you'll enjoy at least the first page
@jcolebrand i was just thinking a greasemonkey script that drops in a <blink> tag on the question title :)
@jcolebrand that's the dashboard (for widgets), go the other way
@ypercube he doesn't want to understand
@Lamak Misunderstandings ...
15:47
@swasheck bleh, you have to occasionally sync it up to a webservice to make it useful, to have everyone's input as a group. Then you need onscreen buttons to add them to the "DNR" list.
@swasheck Any news on the internet punching app yet?
@AaronBertrand I get the big bupkis. Nothing happens when I press ctrl-right arrow
@jcolebrand holy fartstick
however, does that feature require using the double arrow?
@jcolebrand So if you published this thing on the app store, would you call it !Aptem?
15:48
@ConcernedOfTunbridgeWells there's no way it would go on the app store for Chrome
This would be a locally distributed thing for the regulars
That's my desk atm
I also have a thought for it, that when you guys report it it can give me and the other mods a dashboard of "watch for these users"
@Lamak Even the mighty 145k rep user misundertstands what SQL-Server is deprecating.
Room for plenty more 30" monitors if I can move the laptops further down
@AaronBertrand Mine has an XW9300 at one end and a laser printer at the other, plus a whole lot of other junk on it. Can't furnish a picture ATM though as it's about 200km away.
15:49
@AaronBertrand why aren't you using the laptops for ancillary information? And are you using synergy?
> As for myself, I'm working on a movie that I put on kickstarter and I pick up a lot of chicks at clubs showing my gamerscore on my phone. Right now, I'm getting more cred and respect from my cheevos, but later I will probably make a lot of money from it.
@AaronBertrand -the macs and the Canada sticker I'm very jealous.
I'm rockin a half cube....
@swasheck it's almost enough to make you quit drinking coffee for a bit, yeah? I mean, that stuff burns when it comes out
@ypercube Yeah, saw his answer.
@AaronBertrand time to get a standing desk
15:50
@swasheck lol
@jcolebrand no, not using synergy. I like things to be separate. When I'm on travel or want to take the laptop into the TV room or elsewhere, it's because I don't want to be doing desktop-y work.
@jcolebrand especially through the nostrils
I have full access from both laptops to the desktop drives (including externals) if I need it. One of the laptops is being phased out, it's just a matter of me being lazy about it.
@AaronBertrand how do you use one keyboard with both then?
anyone know why answers/comments have been removed?

@jcolebrand huh? I have one keyboard connected to a Mac Pro, which is driving two 30" cinema displays.
However I do have a Logitech K760, and it is also wired to the new laptop and my iPad.
@AaronBertrand it looked like both were being used, since you have two magic trackpad things
Bing desktop wallpaper today is the young teenage version of you staring you in the face, saying "bring it".
@jcolebrand in fits of code rage, when one trackpad dies, I just set it aside instead of changing the batteries on the spot.

I bought an extra thinking I would use it with the laptop or other devices, and haven't so far, so...
It also gives me a bigger flub target if I'm reaching for a trackpad blindly. Doesn't matter which one I hit.

@Zane bing.com somehow tricked me into the daily rotating wallpaper on my desktop at client work site. I left it, because it is nice to have something different each day.

I get all mine from wallbase @CadeRoux
@Zane Not sure I understand what it is you want there. Some sample data with expected output and the query you already have would be helpful. Perhaps in a SQL Fiddle.
@MikaelEriksson I've already posted the sample data....
Also I was just wondering where all the comments/questions went.
I do have some Ideas on how to make that question better.

@Zane Alex deleted his own answer. You'll have to ask him why.
@Zane I don't see the comments or the answer. Could have been deleted by Alex because perhaps he also does not understand the question fully.
Hmm killed 20 points for himself.
@swasheck I kinda want to donate to that movie effort. But then again, I don't.
