@ErikDarling Phew, smokey. Matches your Scotch tastes.
@PaulWhite looks like a torture device
dual use I suppose
"here stick your finger in here for a minute"
17:02
@ErikDarling thanks
@HannahVernon Yikes.
yah
I was going to reply all but thought better of it
why is that bad?
because everyone can see everyone else on the mailing list
privacy and the annoyance of someone hitting reply all

why is that bad?
I normally reply all and just make the body "Unsubscribe"
god forbif someone has an OOO
ka-BOOM
@ErikDarling I see, thanks
if I wanted to send an email out to all the PASS user group folks, it would be silly easy
email was a mistake

video killed the radio star
Update: I've just been asked for another repro of my Graph API problem
As predicted by Sean.
yesterday, by Zikato
user image
the wheels on the bus go round and round
Last repro was 9/28, to this tracks haha.
Good thing it doesn't take 3 people and a bunch of tedious busy work to repro.
Oh wait.
Did you fix those inconsistent contractions in the UI yet
those are v. easy to repro fwiw
17:10
yep super easy
@PaulWhite Haven't quite gotten to those yet 😘
I don't know what you do with your time
Will remind in 30 days
Much of it is consumed with reading the transcript here.
ah all good then
I don't want to pull a total Sean you know.
17:15
said every woman in the US at some stage
I didn't mean to set that up, but I'm glad you knocked it down.
I, too, have gone the espresso only route. Although I switched to pea milk (terrible name) in place of dairy because I found it acceptable flavor-wise.
breville.com/us/en/products/espresso/bes878.html - it's not a dual boiler but the "thermojet" or whatever lets you brew or steam almost immediately, so there's that.
i had the barista express from br*ville for a while, but it was too messy and there was too much tinkering
also paul notified me that they're an australian company and we have an unofficial bds policy towards those
except for coogi, because i already have a few of their sweaters
can't get rid of them, you know
stay fly, etc.
Mine was messier until I got a dosing cup and didn't have to worry about the grounds spilling out from the portafilter
I'm trying to think of any aussie brands I actually bother with - thought breville was your typical multinational conglomerate owned inexplicably by a media company
yeah, the wife was always yelling at me about the grounds everywhere
17:22
I switched from French press to drip coffee several months ago. Mainly because someone gave us a nice drip coffee machine, and it's simpler and makes a larger quantity at once than French press.
And because I am a true American drinking an American drink.
when i was drinking drip coffee, i often had to double-brew a pot to get enough kick in the cup
I had just spent a good deal of money on the dutch coffee powerhouse that is the Moccamaster KGBT, but ultimately it wasn't practical for an afternoon pick me up once things got cold.
a lot of people will buy a separate warmer because of that
It has a thermal carafe, so wasn't too practical from that standpoint - but it does brew great coffee.
Coffee clutch going on in here.
17:34
@SeanGallardy I'm super basic when it comes to tea, I mainly get whatever is relatively inexpensive at the grocery store. We currently have Twinings and Celestial Seasonings brands.
I normally like Taylors or Harney & Sons, Bigelow has my favorite Earl Grey. PG is ok. Was just seeing what people liked for new stuff to try.
17:53
palais des thes is the one i see in fancy restaurants
18:08
Our fancy tea comes from a company called Tea Total
Has flowers in for reasons

1 hour later…
19:10
Would you say you're a tea-total-er?
19:30
Classic/Master Blend by the caseload
19:43
awesome, I'll get a few of each of these and the stuff Erik had and give them a try!
Bill was summoned by tea rather than chicken this time. Interesting.
@PaulWhite i have some uh... digestive tea with flowers in it.
curious how many of those have "detox" in the name
@billinkc They look the same, are classic and master the same blend just naming is different?
@bbaird no, but my wife might be—it's hers
They're the same. Classic is the original name and they've recently rebranded to master blend but some places still list classic
Josh, how do you know tea isn't one of the 11 herbs and spices?
19:59
@billinkc Good point, there's no way I could know.
@JoshDarnell 👀 Better stay that way
@PaulWhite gINCOMING!
What were we going to ask @billinkc again? Excel stuff?
I think I figured it out
@ErikDarling Ooo
20:16
<Summons the Batman> Uh... turns out it was a racoon in the garbage cans. Pest control took care of it.

So I'm trying to create dynamic drop-downs in Excel... and it's possible if YOU PIVOT THE DATA HORIZONTALLY which strikes me as bad.
A nice cup of chicken tea might work
So off all the Excel expert sites, this was the one that had what I actually needed to do: excelcampus.com/functions/dependent-drop-lists
Everyone else was putting each category in its own column which is dumb
20:41
I got some great help from Excel forums when I was young and couldn’t afford SQL Server
This one person helped me create a word cloud by computing a font size based on a count of the words
Had I known what I know now I would have used dynamic SQL to write to an Excel file using xp_cmdshell and all sorts of other good ideas
Maybe even create HTML or a PDF
Who knows
Call some web services while you're at it.
Oh I’ll make it SOAPy
20:57
I try to avoid it except for ad hoc requests and charts
@Erik I finished all my Port - if you think of any suggestions LMK. AFAIK all ports are sweet, but if not I like mine type-2 diabetes.
I have very little experience with them. They’re like Sauternes, I tend to only have them towards the end of a tasting menu/wine pairing that I probably won’t remember much of 😵‍💫
I know there are good ones out there
Let’s see
This seems reasonable: cluboenologique.com/product/…
Bit younger, bit more reasonable: cluboenologique.com/product/…
Strange to find a port named after my last date: cluboenologique.com/product/…
I find Excel's auto-detection of data types rather annoying sometimes, others consider it a database.
21:14
Excuse me we’ve moved on to alcohol
Natural progression though
Excel > Cirrhosis
Oh apologies, thought we were circling back.
Excel > Cirrhosis
@J.D. That's step 12
@ErikDarling Fair enough.
Though technically alcohol > Excel.
Oh I didn’t mean it as a comparison, more like the instructive
21:21
@ErikDarling I know, I'm just saying. 🍻
Right click > Properties etc.
So you're saying Excel is the first step to getting plastered?
I’m waiting to pick my oldest kid up from coding class and the mobile site is not cooperating
@J.D. computers are. Excel is like moving up a belt color.
Excel is a database, as Fernet is delicious.
Ever had Cynar?
21:34
@ErikDarling 🤣😂🤣😂
@ErikDarling Negative. I'm guessing it makes for a good database too?
CynarDB, the latest no-consistency, NoSQL solution for all your management slide deck needs
If it's anything like Fernet, my boss will love it. Thanks for the early Christmas present idea.
@bbaird If MongoDB had a flavor, I'd say Fernet is rather accurate... toothpaste and dirt simultaneously.
21:57
@J.D. Cynar is interesting. If you’re looking for good stuff in that blast radius, check out Faccia Brutto bottles. They make a bunch of things that are all really good.
If you’re into that sort of thing.
If you’re not, nothing can make them good.
22:08
@Vérace on Sunday I met a greyhound from Ireland - since US tracks are closing down I guess the US adoption groups are trying to help out those on the other side of the Atlantic.
23:08
I had to reread that message after I got to the end and realized you probably weren't talking about a bus.
