Bearing in mind questions about licencing are not automatically off-topic.

I can understand why people think they're mostly off-topic, because the only definitive answer can come from the licencing party. But that's true of a lot of questions: a definitive answer can only come from the developer of the software itself. That doesn't mean other answers based on expertise and experience have no value.

It's not a black-and-white issue for me.
