Q: Relational database with Kafka-like durability/caching implementation

Krzysztof NawaraWhen reading about Kafka I found it really interesting how they are providing durability, especially in comparison to databases: Kafka - never writes synchronously to disk, provides durability by replicating to other servers (and getting their confirmation); the added benefit is that it can reus...

@Colin'tHart I understand the dilemma. It's an interesting topic for sure. However, there's no simple, practical question which can be answered. I can see how it may be considered "shopping list" but I read it as an honest inquiry into the workings of a DBMS. I wouldn't vote to close.

@HannahVernon I was not referring to anything specific - just me kinda showing my general dissatisfaction with the offhand way in which the community has been treated by SE! I find it difficult to comprehend how they can be so cavalier with their most precious resource - those who volunteer considerable amounts of time to queue reviewing and other (thankless apparently) tasks on the site.
Why were we not asked what we thought about the idea of removed the "last seen" widget - which I found very handy? When reviewing queues for example, I could check to see if the person had seen a request for more information and act accordingly.

I'd just like to mention it, because a lot of people think extended events are the solution and as soon as some person with a certain amount of reputation writes an answer, then everybody thinks, it has to be the solution.
In some cases, however, the accepted answer is actually the newest way of how to achieve something and not what is common knowledge.
SQL Server Audits are the replacement for the C2 features which are deprecated.
