@HannahVernon Looks like your code fixes orphaned users.
I'm looking for something that replaces sp_validatelogins which checks if SQL Server Windows Authenticated Logins are no longer available in Active Directory.
Morning (btw)
I ran a check on some central instances and sp_validatelogins doesn't catch them all.
> Reports information about Windows users and groups that are mapped to SQL Server principals but no longer exist in the Windows environment.
sp_validatelogins (Microsoft | SQL Docs)

Call me old-fashioned by why is creating 100 boolean columns a problem?
With row overhead it doesn't waste that much space, and is a lot easier to use than all of the alternatives.

11:35 AM
@Colin'tHart Doesn't the current top-voted answer address that?
It's a difficult question to answer without knowing the details of the requirement
In some cases, I imagine 100 columns would be fine, in others, not so much
It does feel like an awkward sort of a design to me in general

Honestly it's not a great question in its present form. It might have improved if the asker had engaged at all, but that hasn't happened yet

11:55 AM
@Colin'tHart it all depends on the requirements and the queries we want to ask, right?
Say I wanted to find all users that have set TRUE in 20 or more of their flags, it wouldn't be so easy with 100 columns
And then I'd ask on the site and bluefeet would get another 10+ answer ;)

And/or we'd have to explain relational division again?

Q: Enforce that every company has at least one CEO

Anton BessonovI've a requirement to ensure that every company has at least one CEO. Example database model with requirements db<>fiddle. Basically, a CEO can't be removed from a company without naming another CEO. The CEO can't take another role in the company, when there is no other CEO. But it's OK to remove...

I see 1 close vote but I don't find it bad.
I mean it's a question that deserves an answer in my opinion.
The idea may be bad but the question, no.

@ypercubeᵀᴹ You can find my opinion here: dba.stackexchange.com/review/close/170172
to be fair, the question has been revised somewhat since the original vote to close was cast
I'm not super-happy with the state of the question now (it has a bit too much self-answer for my liking) but it seems a good enough question overall

Gotta love bit-wise.

Hey mods! I have noticed a site which is copying content from the site without attribution. Can one of the mods report it please?

Q: A site (or scraper) is copying content from Stack Exchange. What should I do?

PopsSince day one of Stack Overflow, all content posted on Stack Exchange sites by their users (i.e. you wonderful people) has been provided to the whole universe under the CC BY-SA license. For my fellow non-lawyers, that license basically means: Anyone can use any Stack Exchange posts at any time...

Mate you should know better than try to beat me to a meta link 😀

@PaulWhite hmm.. fine. I'll report it.

:-)

> Please contact us directly using the on-site form. Select the "Stack Exchange content is being reproduced without attribution" option from the drop-down, and provide as much information as possible. Even if you are reporting an entire site that is scraping many questions, please provide an example of a question on their site and the corresponding question on our site, as well as any Google search terms you used that led you to finding this site.

FYI, this is the site: dba.forumming.com

@RandomPerson Thanks! It's always disappointing, but it needs the company to take action.

@PaulWhite I thought mods have easy access to SE staff. Anyway, you're welcome.

@RandomPerson I wish 🤣

Q: Should the weight of downvotes be increased?

Jeff AtwoodWhen we started Stack Overflow, we wanted to make sure that downvotes were more of a visual and psychological motivator than a punitive action. That's why upvotes are +10 downvotes are -2, and cost the casting voter -1 However, recently, I've seen Marc Gravell and Jon Skeet both say similar ...

Old Q & A but worth thinking about

Tempted to post a suggestion along the lines of Fibbonacci numbers
Dowvote to inflict -2 with -1 for the voter, -3 with -2 to the voter, -5 with -3, etc.
Not that it would have any chance of being implemented

That's what the rep system needs - some more complicated math!
People will be so confused about it they don't worry about the score anymore.
I propose a new rep system: when voting, the poster's and voter's reputation changes by the derivative of the vote-time score of the post being voted on

Q: Nested CTE's Returning Incorrect Results in Certain Situations

Doug CoatsOK, first let me say I got this issue from: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/67988474/seeking-tsql-wrong-join-explantion-in-cte/67989519?noredirect=1#67988474 I was trying to assist to figure out the issue, but got stumped when trying to debug the code one step at a time. I know the issue is d...

An interesting conundrum for our mods ;)

I thought that it was the same person that posted in both sites but it isn't. So I voted to move this question to dba.stacklexchange.com (and if that is done, we can merge them there). — ypercubeᵀᴹ 47 secs ago

@ypercubeᵀᴹ Yeah, what a weird situation!

can two questions by different users be merged?
@PaulWhite @HannahVernon

@ypercubeᵀᴹ as far as I'm aware only accounts can be merged, but perhaps that's what needs to happen.
Having looked at the question now, I'd think not.
