Morning
@billinkc That's depressing. I may actually have to get shit out of a K2 workflow at some point.

@hot2use one of my favourite lacs is Lac d'Annecy: s-ec.bstatic.com/images/hotel/max1024x768/129/129180748.jpg

@PaulWhite lakhadaisical ?

GOOD Morning BTW... last workday before (first period of) holidays.

@dezso oops
@dezso Nice. 4 hours drive from where I live.

9:16 AM
@hot2use 12 from me, under optimal circumstances
flying into Geneva and hiring a car makes more sense. But then the ticket for the paraglider is expensive.

@hot2use By the way, "Lac" may be a valid alternative spelling, according to the Wikipedia.
Morning

@hot2use did my first swim of the year there 1.5 months ago. Was chilly (by my standards, which are lower (on the temperature scale) than for most people). If you decide to go there, I have some tips.

9:36 AM
@AndriyM Should I change it back?

@hot2use I probably wouldn't. I mainly wanted to let you know for the future.

@dezso My wife (then girlfriend) was in Annecy once in a school camp
@AndriyM I thought it might be valid, but DBA.SE had just about got used to lakh, so I thought I'd change it.
DBA.SE lakhs lakh

@hot2use Seems a valid point. To be honest, if I decided to edit that part, I'd probably convert to internationally recognised units and remove the original. Not trying to say that everyone should do the same, it's just my personal view on this.

@AndriyM It did cross my mind, but that might have confused OP.

Another fair point, I hadn't thought about that. I'll try to remember to leave a corresponding note in the edit comment ("1 lakh = 100,000" or something like that) next time I decide to replace "lakh"

Given about 20% of the world's population uses the word "lakh", I think it's us who should learn what it means. Just like we know what feet and inches are...

@Colin'tHart the US use Farheneit. I can't see why I should learn to use it, unless I'm moving to the states

No, but you know how to convert... and that 100F is about 38C

Not by heart though. I thought it was 40+

f(x) °C = (x °F - 32 °F) * 5 °C/9 °F

@Colin'tHart yeah, I have feet. Taryn has blue feet. I don't have inches though. But Germany has Zolls. So confusing.

11:22 AM
@dezso But only at the borders to Denmark and Switzerland

@hot2use and in virtually any bathroom. Even more confusingly, though, Zollstocks use metric units.

@dezso true

Q: New EU copyright laws to be voted on 20th June 2018

Fermi paradoxThe European Parliament JURI committee will be voting on 20th June on reforms of the EU copyright laws (full law proposal). According to a Creative Commons article titled 'Act now to stop the EU’s plan to censor the web': The final copyright directive will have deep and lasting effects on the...

Question deleted, that is
Dan Guzman asked them, "add the CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements that demonstrate the problem to your question if dbfiddle doesn't work for you." The question was deleted ~40 min later.

I guess he figured out his problem.

Astrologer is the expert in this matter and we are not. So u should follow what he has to say. If there are remedies at all he is the best person to let u know about them. — Rickross 11 hours ago

When my parents consulted an astrologer he told we should not marry if we marry girl will die Yeah, that kind of stuff happens to me all the time

He is technically correct. We will all die, eventually.

A_V
Wow, are you an astrologer
DBAs and astrologists are quite similar now that I think about it

@A_V Tell me your rahu ketu and I'll provide more details ;)

If you ever wonder what it means here's a translation

The lunar nodes are the orbital nodes of the Moon, that is, the two points at which the orbit of the Moon crosses the ecliptic. The ascending (or north) node is where the Moon moves into the northern ecliptic hemisphere, while the descending (or south) node is where the Moon enters the southern ecliptic hemisphere. Eclipses involving the Moon occur only near the lunar nodes. A solar eclipse occurs when the passage of the Moon through a node coincides with the new moon, while a lunar eclipse occurs when the passage coincides with the full moon. A lunar eclipse may occur if the full Moon is within...

Is it possible that a user cannot see triggers on a table?
The behaviour reported in this question sounds impossible without triggers
@ypercubeᵀᴹ There are only 4 jobs. Job1, the one in question. Job2 wich corrects this odd behavior. Job3, that deletes stuff that has nothing to with 1. And Job4 that also deletes stuff. Every job runs 10mins from each other. If you stop every job, and run Job1 alone you get this behavior. I rechecked this db(Sql Server 2012) and the old db(Sql Server 2008, here I stopped eveything in db) and still happens. Both reports no triggers and the same behavior. — dmb 3 mins ago

8:42 PM
@ypercubeᵀᴹ I think access to sys.triggers requires VIEW DEFINITION

8:59 PM
@ypercubeᵀᴹ I quickly observed a remarkable lack of articles on that page

@dezso a lakh of articles?

@ypercubeᵀᴹ oh. I should have noticed it. One of those missed opportunities you bring with you as thorns under your skin for the rest of your life.
only consolation is that I have rahu ketu in fridge. I am going to drink it now,

9:17 PM
or perhaps this one?
Searching for "rahu keu beer" has landed me on a page about "astrological reasons for being alcoholic". I think I'll call it a day and step away from the Net.

Q: How Much Data And Log Did A Transaction Create In SQL Server

John L.What is the most accurate way to measure how much data and log has a transaction actually added to SQL server? I am not trying to calculate the size of the data and log files, so autogrowth etc. is irrelevant.

I'm a bit worried by the trend these days to close any and all questions that aren't several paragraphs, with lots of details, and a very specific problem.
3
Surely it's possible to make some predictions about growth making some basic assumptions?
An answer that documents how to go about this would be very useful, IMHO.
But this question is going down the same route -- 4 close votes already.

11:02 PM
@Colin'tHart I added a leave open vote (hard work, there was quite some stuff in the close vote queue)
