Q: How to start a chat?

marcello miorelliSometimes, when I post a question, someone might come and post a comment, that does not necessarily belong to the context. I would like then, to reply in a chat room, rather than another comment. How can I do that?

Q: When is it prudent to start a chat?

John EisbrenerI've seen a number of questions with comments ranging in the 10s and higher. In a very small subset of these, I occasionally see someone open up a chat regarding the conversation within the question's comments. This was a great approach in my opinion to reign in the chaos. I've only ever seen ...

Is adding one tag a trivial edit?
07:22
@hot2use I would approve (of this), if there's nothing else to edit.
If there are 2-3 other things that need editing, I'd "improve edit" (which means the edit is accepted).
If the the post is a total mess and needs major editing, I'd reject it as trivial edit (or reject and edit).
Well along came the next guy and added the tag compres to the added tag sqlserver
Ok. Understood. Cheers.
@hot2use in another question?
@ypercubeᵀᴹ nope same question other user
Oh, it's the same guy, different question: dba.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/91869
ah ok. Was looking at the users the wrong way round. He was trying to get two edits in then?
07:27
@hot2use The questions are 2, by 2 users.
The same (3rd) user suggested the edits.
I think we can reject this one (the compression)

Paul rejected another one of his add-one-tag suggestions: dba.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/91868
Okay. Seems likes he's trying to earn points with simple tagging.
Reject without adding tag?
Do you think we need the "compression" tag?
Sems useless to me. I would remove the "sql" and add "sql-server" tag instead
Yes. I think it might help others find questions related to compression as it does touch on the subject.
ok. Keep the "compression" but reject the edit then!
@ypercubeᵀᴹ Thanks for the feedback. I thinkg I'm slowly getting the hang of moderation.
07:39
Oh, you didn't reject ;)
08:06
@ypercubeᵀᴹ Nope. "In dubio pro reo"

@PaulWhite Thanks.
Yeah it's important to review edit suggestions by new users quite critically so they have an opportunity to correct any mistakes and learn to use the system correctly.

Q: How to copy migrate data to new tables with identity column, while preserving FK relationship?

kevinI want to migrate data from one database to another. The table schemas are exactly the same: CREATE TABLE Customers( [Id] INT NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY IDENTITY, (some other columns ......) ); CREATE TABLE Orders( [Id] INT NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY IDENTITY, [CustomerId] INT NOT NULL, ...

Interesting question, not really any answer so far.

@JackDouglas dbfiddle.uk is running again.
yes, and so are my customers servers :)
good job!
thanks, it's nice to be able to breathe again
