6:02 PM
how noble of you, @TypoCubeᵀᴹ

6:19 PM
@PaulWhite Which app ...
I think I found it
I can see I shall now be extra annoyed by apps on my phone haha

@jcolebrand The only one I think. It's just called Stack Exchange for me (Android).

@PaulWhite I have seen one called Client Stack Overflow which I think is different. (or not?

shrug

And that would explain why I haven't got the App hat yet ...

@TypoCubeᵀᴹ I'm jealous of your Hero of Questions.

6:27 PM
Hmmm
Chat doesn't work yet on mobile, from within the app
Or I'm doing something wrong

@jcolebrand Not within the app, no. I have it open in Chrome on my mobile.

@PaulWhite I prefer chrome on the desktop :p

The app isn't good for much besides voting and reading the HNQ.

I like part of the functionality of it all, but a native-ish chat would be more useful ...
Does it have mod functions?

@jcolebrand A few more than it used to, but hardly any really. You can delete comments. Can't handle flags etc.
I never mod on the phone though. Too easy to bugger something up in a way that's hard to fix, even in a browser. Small screen.

6:34 PM
Is there a chat API?

@Philᵀᴹ I think so.
Isn't there a whole SE site for that?

@PaulWhite Same here
@PaulWhite shhhh, quit giving away all the secrets!

@Philᵀᴹ Did you visit the stackapps link above?
There must be an API given all the chat bots.

I'm pretty sure they are just reverse engineered http socket apps

Q: Will the API support the chat system?

JoshHaving read through come of the questions on here it's my understanding that v 1.0 of the API is for read-only access to real-time data, pretty much what's available in the data dump. Write support is planned for version 2.0. My question is, will version 2.0, or some future version after that, ha...

@PaulWhite Even worse, I forced myself to go to documentation

You might be right. Goodness knows I wouldn't know an API from a websocket if it handed me its business card.

@TypoCubeᵀᴹ No, but I got one through as "not constructive" :)

@TomV ugh

@PaulWhite Hey, Josh's question! @TimStone nudge

6:48 PM
Prediction: 6-8 weeks.

We actually watched Josh build one of the first chatbots when he was asking that
It was used in the Tavern on the Meta

Fairly sure there is a pivot bot

I think you're just thinking of @bluefeet ...

7:01 PM
Nah, just talking about you, that's all
@PaulWhite Now I have 8 hats :p

\o/

@PaulWhite I've been really slacking in the hat business

@Lamak As opposed to not slacking in...?
:-D

never . miss . an . opportunity . to . troll

7:21 PM
@PaulWhite that's a great point

Dec 19 at 14:00, by Paul White
My motto: never let an opportunity for a cheap shot pass.

I'm proud of @PaulWhite, he's developed a lot in his trollness

1 hour later…
8:48 PM
@bluefeet any idea if they plan on exposing chat via API? I guess they could seriously compete with Slack if they did so

@Philᵀᴹ not that I'm aware of

That's a shame

9:20 PM
Because it's Christmas
Out of respect for your thorough answers obviously @MDCCL

Q: How to model a Letter Transportation business context in a database diagram?

IgorI am trying to crate entity-relationship diagram for a transport company database. This database should store information about letters, deliveries, moving letters from one warehouse to another, and historical information. It should allow tracking letters, e.g., checking what letters were on cert...

@PaulWhite It's too soon to add it there, and i didn't really knew which answer to pick

Yep I just figured that out. Fixed.

I added it to another one of his answers because he deserves more unicorn points
I liked the hypothetical uni project answer before, but I'd award it to that one too
oh now you changed your onebox

Yep :) Anyway I'm off for a bit. Look after the place, and try not to set anything on fire.

9:28 PM
You trust me?
Bad idea
It's fine
:s

Anyone ever done any sales forecasting etc & can share experiences? I've been meddling with R & am wondering what to investigate next

@Philᵀᴹ SQL 2005 and writeback, not sure if it interests you
A long time ago
The thing had vendors update an excel file, writing back to the cube and forecasts influenced operational planning

Not heard of write back before

it's a SSAS thing where people can update pivot tables (depending on the excel version) and you get a table with their views on what they think they will sell for example
worked fairly well

10:05 PM
