@dezso Perhaps something along those lines should be addressed to the OP first, I think. It's unclear who the OP thinks a DBA, as a user, is supposed to be from the perspective of a database server.

In fact, is it possible to be a DBA without superadmin privileges? Say, when you a limited to doing a specific subset of common DBA tasks.

@JzInqXc9Dg No. Old style joins (or comma join or ANSI-89 join) cannot give you outer joins. There were proprietary extensions to the syntax, like the *= and =* in SQL Server and Sybase and the (+) syntax in Oracle for writing outer joins but none of them made it into the standard. The (more flexible) LEFT/RIGHT/FULL OUTER JOIN syntax was adopted.

Oracle was the latest I think to implement the new (ANSI-92) syntax so there are probably more Oracle developers that have been used to writing or reading code with the old syntax.

I don't know. Rather than explicitly categorising questions as homework, it might be better to focus on whether the question shows any effort on the OP's side.

A homework question can still be a good contribution for the site.

On the other hand, I agree that it probably makes sense to emphasise that showing effort is particularly important for homework questions.
