Anyone happens across this was wondering what flavor of Unix to start with for trying to start my learn on Oracle? Minding that the laptop I use is more of a Shetland pony than a race horse.

@ShawnMelton CentOS is derived from RHEL and it's fairly easy to get Oracle up and running on it.
@ShawnMelton If you need a more pimped laptop then you can get used T420s off ebay for a few hundred dollars. Add an intel 525 SSD into the mSATA slot and you will have plenty of juice to frig with Oracle.
Plus, Linux support on thinkpads is about the best of any laptop. There's a tradition of Linux support going back to IBM days.
