@ErikDarling is that some new kind of gibberish?
Or am I just not up on my memes

Dear God! How long should it take to put a composite PK (1 INT, 1 timestamp) on a 31M record (secs in a year) table - SATA SSD?

3:43 PM
@MichaelGreen hah. at least it wasn’t weezer.
@HannahVernon it’s fairly easy to track down

I had to track it down as well. It's from Lord of the Flies and the "assmar" is supposed to mean "asthma"

Cheers

@Vérace I wrote a script to find corrupt items in pg_toast tables.

6:34 PM
@JohnK.N. So you think TOAST-ability is a goodie? How do other systems cope with oversize records - whatever the definition of "oversize" may be! I hope you've released your script into the wild as F/LOSS? :-)

@Vérace most would do something similar. If a row does not fit in the page size, it has to be stored somewhere.
eg for mysql's InnodDB engine, see this article: percona.com/blog/2010/02/09/blob-storage-in-innodb

7:26 PM
@ypercube - Thanks for that!
On the other hand, I'm flummoxed, puzzled, baffled, bewildered and mystifed, to say nothing of perplexed, discombobulated and nonplussed!
I'm battling with that f***ing SQL from the other day - it's really mad! Joining up intervals of different lengths is no walk in the park!
I have one working solution - but I'm not going down without a fight!

7:42 PM
@Vérace hoodwinked, bamboozled, lead astray, run amok and flat out deceived

8:36 PM
@JohnK.N. What other PostgreSQL features catch your fancy?
Ah well, I'm knackered and off to the leaba (bed)! Oíche mhaith go léir- Evening all!
