9:00 PM
yup, japan first of their group, amazing

it's funny they beat Spain and Germany and yet manage to lose from the weakest team in the group

9:17 PM
Might be riots in Germany then
I wonder what the German team will say
Assuming they're not covering their mouths

9:37 PM
Anyone doing Advent of Code (adventofcode.com/2022)? I usually get to day 3 before it becomes too time consuming

@Zikato That's neat, I haven't done it before.

I've got solution for day 1 (both parts) in SQL and KQL. Usually the hardest part is to get the data into the table.

😤

God Oracle is unpredictable with query plans. It's not helped that whoever built this database completely ignored keys, clustering, etc that would make what I'm trying to do trivial
Or, you know, not f-ing up the data to begin with
"Here, let me clobber all these strings together so you can seek on an index" Oracle: "How about I sort everything instead?" "Ok, how about I use SUBSTR?" Oracle: No need to sort boss, I got this!
This isn't really an oracle thing as much as it's a bad database thing and trying to trick oracle around it

@Zikato I just did both in C#. Fun!

I hope you've used set based logic

@bbaird you should ask them if they’ve tried doing things right the first time

@ErikDarling Oh man that gets people salty around here

@Zikato Of course - I used LINQ 🙃

10:04 PM
That's a word I haven't seen in a long time

I've been playing around some on codewars.com recently.

That rings a bell. I think I was there at some point (practicing regex), but I can't remember my credentials

@bbaird we’ll yeah it’s like asking “have you tried thinking about it?”

@ErikDarling Technically I think I can blame informatica for this

11:09 PM
@bbaird oh. oh I’m so sorry.

I can't believe they can charge money for... this. This mess of heaps, duplicate records, and mismatched data types
They're trying to sell their cloud offering to us - multi-tenant MongoDB
I could not be more against something

11:28 PM
I have a friend who tried to do consulting for informatics projects and he completely lost his shit

11:42 PM
This is... Lovecraftian - the more I see the further into madness I go

At some point all you can do is realize you missed the bus on being a Red Hot Chili Pepper and drink accordingly
