@JamesLupolt You're right. It's not my disk. You can get M.2 disks that fast if you have a motherboard that supports PCIE v4. I have an Intel 750 as a system disk, which does about 2.4 read and 1.2 write, and an Intel P4601 (should really have gotten a P4610) that does about 0.8 write and 3.0 read.
I also got a Thinkpad P52s and discovered that you can pimp those out to 64GB. If I'd known that I probably wouldn't have bothered with a desktop. In practice, with COVID I'm working from home so it's moot anyway.
@CadeRoux If you need case insensitive comparisons in a hashing function, hash UPPER of the values.

@ConcernedOfTunbridgeWells Indeed. I've got bigger problems in try to deal with the massive number of features added between versions that end up being in columns and thus in the XML, I want the hashes of the rules to leave out the new features when comparing to older rules, but have them in for comparing to newer rules. Things always get messier the more you dig...
