I don't think any of the current answers on Idea Review: The ultimate movie monster are correct. But that's mostly because, IMO, the question isn't good. The question asks if this is going to be a good movie monster. The answers basically say it's too powerful which is the problem. There have been overpowered monsters in movies for ages. Xenomorphs in Alien are a prime example and one I can draw a direct parallel to.
They are extinction-level threat. Yet, in the movies humans do prevail. Because the movies don't put the aliens in at full strength - they are isolated and few in number. In short, xenomorphs are presented in a weak state to showcase how strong they are, since it still takes a lot to take them down.
