@redfrogcrab Do you need a specific system? Does how it work actually influence anything other than technobabble and fluff?

You may want to commit to the large level mechanisms of FTL, jump vs go fast vs both and whether the tech to do so can be ship mounted or do you need larger facilities for FTL to function. However, as the author of the story, and the builder of the world, you are the only one who gets to choose what something should or should not be in your world.
