IncognitoHow can I avoid accidentally killing my mage in the process of performing a spell? Orgone is the measure of a person's connection with the cosmos. It is the conduit through which the power of the cosmos flows, focused through a sorcerer's will. Ritual practicioners must draw on this reserve of p...

yuck, calling us a 'Forum'.. we don't do that whamsy pansy open discussion stuff here. We do hard data!
19:40
@Shalvenay Rytsas! A bit ill today sadly :/
@HDE226868 They missed that we don't just do sci-fi as well but this makes up for it: "The discussion now resembled something other than the dog-in-pants scenario: The very real conversations, decades ago, between engineers and scientists"
Maybe someone should do a PhD in Worldbuilding :P
@Mithrandir24601 awww, how're things going otherwise?
@Shalvenay Not too bad - went ice skating yesterday :D How about you?
Also, holidays soon :)
@Mithrandir24601 doing OK out here, got the holiday shopping taken care of
That's more than I've done...

@Mithrandir24601 I would be surprised no one tried some master's thesis or something like that about it...
Back in the forum days, I've seen many doing those on some dedicated forum and/or MMORPG...
@Mithrandir24601 The other day on Youtube, I found someone presenting SF vs. Fantasy by whether you invent some scientific reasons for the strange things occurring. Meaning: "The ship flies! Yep, because Magic" is Fantasy whereas "The ship flies! Yep, coated in Unobtainium" is SF.
With that definition, SF could be medieval...
and if we go by that definition, we essentially do SF...
22:41
@Mithrandir24601 I think there are many of these but called by different names. Anything in pure research or bleeding edge engineering comes pretty close to Worldbuilding in my opinion.
23:17
@Green That's truer than you think
Essentially, 'how would the world be if ...?'
And if there's a way to make the '...' such that the answer is 'it wouldn't be different to our own', you're on to something. That is, there's a mistake somewhere in your maths that you haven't found yet
@bilbo_pingouin Mmm... Sounds like someone hasn't properly thought about Mohs scale of sci-fi hardness and the overlap of science fiction, science fantasy and fantasy
There is overlap, but it's more complicated than that
