@James Looks like I'll have access to the internet for a few weeks, so if you want to ask that con-script question, now's the time.
07:57
@TrEs-2b Does that mean you normally do not have access to the internet more than a week in a row?

A: Sandbox for Proposed Questions

dot_Sp0TGenetic inheritance of skills - How would it change the process of childbirth? genetics biology I was recently thinking about and wondering how the world would change if, instead of inheriting semi-random genetic traits, children would inherit a subset of skills & abilities from their parents. ...

Oof. I think I missed a whole bunch of planet/space questions overnight.
15:51
By the way, @DaaaahWhoosh, would you be interested in working on this, if you have the time?
16:33
hey there @Bellerophon
@Shalvenay Hi.
how're things going?
Alright. Just got back from holiday.
ah, OK here
17:02
hey there @Mithrandir24601
@Shalvenay Rytsas - how're things?
alright here. thinking about what sort of large gatherings/festivals/whatnot dragons could have xD (bonus points for a fly-in occasion)
also, wondering what someone who has only ever seen a castle drawbridge in their life would think of seeing this critter:
The Steel Bridge is a through truss, double-deck vertical-lift bridge across the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon, United States, opened in 1912. Its lower deck carries railroad and bicycle/pedestrian traffic, while the upper deck carries road traffic (on the Pacific Highway West No. 1W, former Oregon Route 99W) and light rail (MAX), making the bridge one of the most multimodal in the world. It is the only double-deck bridge with independent lifts in the world and the second oldest vertical-lift bridge in North America, after the nearby Hawthorne Bridge. The bridge links the Rose Quarter and...

@Shalvenay I've heard of a dungeon of dragons before :P
Or if you want them flying, a flight?
@Mithrandir24601 haha xD I'm talking more of a temporary gathering xD (think like AirVenture, if you're familiar with that sort of thing IRL)

@Secespitus Not during the summer. I usually go to the library for free internet, but this year I moved away. Right now I'm visiting family so I'll have access.

@Shalvenay I've got a potential answer to this :) An extreme form of consumerism, where the people have all the power and control and the people in power want that but in order to actually figure out what people want, you need to heavily rely on those 'soft powers'. Like a Netflix that knows so much about you and advertises so efficiently that it knows the exact show that you're going to watch so downloads it for you before you go anywhere near it

Q: The problem with opinion based questions

DotanI've seen a few questions, including my own, being closed for being 'too opinion based'. My question is, what's wrong with that? I think that in the SE philosophy opinion based questions are bad because they are not reusable - meaning they aren't any help for people visiting the site to find use...

20:45
@Mithrandir24601 so a government that relies on propaganda and covert channels to communicate with its constituents, basically?
@Shalvenay Sort of - the government knows what you want because it spies on you and so gives the majority of people what they want better than any current government could in the hope that it gets re-elected
@Mithrandir24601 I can actually see that working...somehow? :o that'd be a rather strange place to be in if you were an activist sort...
@Shalvenay Yeah... It's weird but I could envision it coming from our own society with the way that Google/Amazon etc. currently work at things with the Google Home/Amazon's Echo
21:01
the sense I think folks'd get is "why in the world does it feel like I'm being hugged by Cthulhu?"
also @Mithrandir24601 -- did you catch my drawbridge thing?
21:17
@Shalvenay Yeah, I simply have no idea :P I mean, I think the first thing would be along the lines of ":o, what is that?", but beyond that... ¯_(ツ)_/¯

@HDE226868 hmm. I think I would. I'm also in the process of designing a logo for my local HEMA club, but I think I've drawn that enough times to satisfy the members for now.
Shall I put a like in this question? I like the question but it's too broad for SE.
what are you suggesting to do with it?
