A: Sandbox for Proposed Questions

AprilI don't know quite how to phrase this, and there may be duplicates that address at least aspects of what I'm asking. So that's why I'm putting it in the Sandbox instead of actually Posting It As A Question. The prompt for my question: I work in documenting how to use assistive technology (prim...

Oh good, didn't want to be bored at work for the next two days before I head out on vacation.
@dot_Sp0T So I think I am going to have my halfling druid come riding out on a treant tomorrow night. She will have the effects of the mounted combat feat...because why not.

@James :D

2:37 PM
@James Halfing druid? This has evolved.

2:47 PM
@James What'd ya think of the first round of debates?

3:05 PM
From my perspective, it seemed like a contest to who could give away the most ridiculous amount of tax payer money, while NBC (and maybe the DNC?) did their best to show that they could top the amount of cheating they could pull off.

> From my perspective
The Jedi are evil
Sorry, I had to /r/Prequel memes.

@NexTerren The Jedi definitely weren't perfect to be sure. Better than Palpatine, in that they valued life, but they also made silly mistakes for dumb reasons.

@AndyD273 I was 100% just memeing.
And Palp was the bad guy, through and through. Literally Lucas based him on Satan (or his idea of Satan) as he wanted an unredeemable evil to contrast with the redeemable Vader.

@NexTerren I understand. But if we can't nitpick and get overly technical, what are we even doing here?
4

@AndyD273 You know I had to give that a star...

3:48 PM
@NexTerren Heh.
@AndyD273 I missed the first night. The second night made me want to line up the candidates and smack them...most of them anyway.
He didn't get much time but I still like Yang. He avoided the food fight, didn't waste his time trying to score points on the others...

@James Just curious who you think did not deserve a smack? I only saw snippets of the first night, since it looked like they packed it with the weakest candidates, but it looked SUPER cringy.
@James I wonder if it ended up helping him that they muted his mic for most of the debate

@AndyD273 Mainly Yang, Pete B isn't too bad.

@AndyD273 They did what?!

@NexTerren They muted his mic so that he could not butt in like everyone else

@AndyD273 lol possible. But he seems pretty focused on message, not insults. He even tells twitter followers to be polite when engaging in discussions...

3:52 PM
Like, am I missing something? Did he need to be muted, or were they just being super unprofessional?

@AndyD273 What's her face...Williamson I think...is out of her mind. I was convinced she would start burning sage and handing out magic crystals before the end of the debate.

@NexTerren Oh, it gets much much worse than that

@NexTerren A couple people mentioned Mic difficulties...of course the internet assumes it was intentional to keep Yang down...but whatever.

Also running a hybrid online/in person game is a royal pain in the butt.

Like for instance, NBC literally put a CG pimple on Tulsy Gabberd

3:55 PM
@AndyD273 Wait...what?

@AndyD273 :joy: How much worse can politics get?!

@AndyD273 Que?
"CG pimple on Tulsy Gabberd" is now in my search history
3

There is video where she has this spot on her chin that looks like a pimple that somehow didn't get covered up with the TV makeup, and from one frame to the next it just vanishes.
@James I'm not going to outright accuse NBC and the DNC of colluding to keep certain candidates that they don't approve of from getting a shot, because of course they've never done that before... But when a couple of the candidates who are outsiders get muted, but you can still hear them a little in other peoples mics, I'm going to say that it looks a little suspicious.
From an outsiders perspective, it looks like they've decided that you're going to vote for Kamala Harris. I just wonder if she'll promise to pay reparations to the descendants of the slaves her family owned.

4:13 PM
@AndyD273 I imagine this is the point you're getting at, but I don't think we're beholden to the actions of our ancestors as justice.
BRB for lunch

@NexTerren I don't either. But slave reparations is one of the big platforms that most of the candidates are running on.

Oh, politicians won't pay for it. They've already done their part by even voting for it.
It'll be the middle class that foot the bill again.

@Hosch250 Of course not, and I'm pretty sure that there is no way that it is going to pass. They're just trying to push back on the blexit movement by saying they might look into giving away money.

What is that? A group for people who haven't learned grammar yet?
Hmmm, an anti-Democrat liberal movement?
Basically, an anti-establishment group?
Somehow, I think the offer of money would just piss them off even more.

@Hosch250 Sorta modeled on Brexit, basically a push to get black americans to take a good look at politics and the people who tell them that they can't get ahead without government assistance.

4:42 PM
@AndyD273 If it's modelled on Brexit will it dissolve into complete chaos within two years?
3

Yeah, for real... naming it after Brexit was not the best marketing move.
Like... there's nothing wrong with the Watergate hotel. I'd be careful naming something after "Watergate," though.

@NexTerren Teapot Dome Political Party?

@Bellerophon Brexit is gaining a ton of momentum. The Brexit party went from birth to the largest political party in the UK in 3 months. Theresa May resigned because of her utter failure, and the person who will likely take her place actually has a backbone.

@AndyD273 I mean we're already past the first agreed upon deadline, past the second agreed upon deadline, and now the next deadline is in October which, given politics are what they are, that isn't that far away.
And I don't think they have real progress because everything put forward is voted down, but I don't think there's a majority outline for staying in the EU. They're puttering around in EU purgatory.
I'm no expert, but to me it seems like no matter your view (UK should stay in the EU or the UK should leave the EU) it's a mess.
And to clarify the first deadline was when the UK was supposed to have left, not when the agreement was to have been made.
*a majority outcry. Edit timed out just as I was trying to fix that.

5:05 PM
@NexTerren Yeah. The source of the problem was that they put a remainer in charge of the exit, and the deals that she made were horrible. So she makes this horrible deal, brings it back, and the UK parliament is like "Are you insane??" So she goes back and does it again, same result. It gets close to the first deadline, and she pushes through a law saying that the UK can't leave without a deal, meaning that they are basically at the EUs mercy.

Well I hope, for the UK's sake, they get it sorted out.

5:37 PM
@AndyD273 She actually went against the can't leave with no deal law. It was some back-benchers that put that law through.

@Bellerophon Ah, ok
It's been a while since that happened, so thanks

Basically the problem is Parliament is split massively between hardcore leavers and hardcore remainers with no one really willing to compromise and no majority for anything.Even worse is the conservatives are split on the same lines and the government doesn't have a majority in Parliament.

@NexTerren IIRC, the next PM will be selected in the next month or so, and October is the next deadline, so the hope among brexiters is that they'll be able to force a no deal at that time and finally be done with it. Though I could have some of that wrong.

@AndyD273 Is it merely a happy accident that PM is the Project Manager abbreviation?

Currently one of the candidates (Boris Johnson) said we would leave in October either with or without a deal. The other one (Jeremy Hunt) said we probably would.

5:51 PM
The last few panels of OotS made me chuckle. Also that guy is a good writer.

@NexTerren Haven't gotten to the end yet

@NexTerren His pace has been killing me lately.

@James Yeeeeep. He's a slow one.

1 hour later…
7:19 PM
@James Yes, please?

Maybe we should do a weekend meetup sometime. Maybe next year? I've already burned my vaca money this year on a conference :)
Unless y'all want to come to the Duluth airshow on July 20th :D

@NexTerren Huh?

@James The link is pointed to your comment about having a forge, range, etc.

@Hosch250 Ah. gotcha

7:50 PM

@Feeds LOL.
The Dudhwa Tiger Reserve?

8:08 PM
I wonder if there is an ethical way to get my spider question over 100 upvotes... Only need 10 now

@AndyD273 Wait a few years?
Post it on reddit?

@Hosch250 Probably. It's been 2 since I wrote it, and it still picks one up every once in a while

Post it on 4chan and say "pls updoot this". You'll either end up with 1k upvotes or 1k downvotes.

8:27 PM
@Hosch250 Why not both?

@NexTerren That could happen :D

@Feeds I'm not seeing the argument about why handing out floating point variables for coordinates is such a horrible thing, assuming it's a user located value on the computer system and not a real-life measured stored value.
Like maybe it'd be a smidge better to round that off based on some accuracy of the original maps and original measurements so people who didn't know what they were doing and how computers worked but did understand significant digits wouldn't be confused but...

8:42 PM
Only one sword?
That's going to make no sense since you removed that picture.

:50881888 How did the all fit? And how in the world did Congress approve this? Tell me the giraffe is photoshopped.
3

@NexTerren Almost tempted not to reupload the picture
@Bellerophon From the reddit post: This post should be renamed "the other sword is on roach like in the books."
Though I always wonder why he bothered to carry the steel sword. Just make a single sword with steel and silver for the benefits of both

@AndyD273 Is it because he only fights monsters when he is being paid so generally has time to prepare and so doesn't need silver most of the time and so their is no point risking it being damaged.

Maybe that's how it happened in the books. In the game so many freaken monsters. Ok, this creature is weak to steel, not silver. This one is not weak to either, but will be easy to kill if you put this potion on the silver sword
I think I need a spreadsheet for them all

8:58 PM
@AndyD273 No databases in spreadsheets, mmkay?
