I am trying to run python on two completely linux systems (pi and debian), and trying to import two completely different packages (youtube_dl and tcp), and yet both have the same problem: when I download a package, it seems to disappear and then I can't use it in my program, and I can't uninstall it. Trying to fix the problem only results in several different versions of the package being scattered across the computer.
Then, I try to install pip, thinking that might somehow help, and then I have pip and pip3 and pip3 is giving me an error whenever I run it and pip is just downloading and losing more versions of the original package... Why can't computers just work!?!?
Linux will one day drive me sudo apt-get install insane.
@Shalvenay There have always been people that have tried to cheat, and I'd argue that it's a lot better now than it has been any time in the past. Unions helped play a part in this (though I also believe that a lot of unions have evolved to the point where their purpose is to make sure that the union has power, and less with taking care of the workers). Specifically, right now in the US unemployment is at record lows, meaning that workers have more bargaining power.
I really like most of his books. I think one exception is Accelerando, which was kinda disturbing. Rule 34 is borderline, in that I liked the story, but it was written in second person singular with multiple point of view characters, which really took me out of the story a lot.
