The island is populated only by race of Skrits, green haired, slightly shorter humans, who had rebelled alongside Vainglorians against Gods.

After their defeat seemed inevitable, many children with a few adult guardians have been sent to this hidden island where they were supposed to stay safe. The island is surrounded by dangerous waters and rocks, making it quite isolated from rest of the world.

Even when gods cursed all the Skrit, the population here managed to escape their fate, until around five centuries ago when one of the cursed Skrit accidentally ended up on the island when ship
Khagnate of Hatamia is another exception, where tribes have been enslaved by Great Khan Hatamia and his three hundred companions. Hatamia and his companions are not Skrit, but rather antropomorphic sea otters, who, unlike Skrit, can freely use magic and were thus able to enslave all the Skrit tribes they met.

So I just was poking around the site looking for neat stuff, happened to glance at my rep, saw the number was like 3.5k higher than I expected, did a double take, did a triple take, and then found the blog post.
Nice as the massive rep boost is, this seems like a rather arbitrary decision with no community input.
