Hello Forum. I have a question about a futuristic help.desk in which robots are interacting with each other. It was posted to the workplace forum at workplace.stackexchange.com/questions/147040/… but it wasn't welcome there. Can the question migrated to the worldbuilding forum?

11:12 AM
@ManuelRodriguez Not sure. It might get closed due to being too story based.

@Bellerophon Closing means, that it's escalated to a higher instance which is an expert for such cases, which is me. So i have to modify the question to increase the acceptance rate in the next trial. One option would be to use the style element of a dialogue to make clear what is going on the mind of the robots while negotiating to each other.

@ManuelRodriguez Yeah, I agree that this question seems to story based for WB proper. You could see about getting some help here in chat, either to focus the question to something that will survive on the site, or you could use the sandbox to get input on how to improve the question.

Alternately we could try to brainstorm it some here in chat too to see if we can help you find an answer you like.

So this free service I use has a top-right "x" box next to advertisements. If you try clicking it, it gives you a popup thanking the sponsor, a link with more info, and a link to sign up for their premium service that removes adverts.

It's their right to host adverts, their right to offer a premium service, but putting that information on the "close" button? Really? How did they think that would possibly go over well?

@Ranger I think that is called the "annoymium" model? a bit like freemium, but with an extra bit of annoyance to try to get you to upgrade
the kids have accounts on an educational rpg lite website that is a bit like a turnbased jrpg, except you have to do math to attack enemies. It's completely free, but if you pay for a premium subscription then you get more companions, more outfits, and your character levels up faster. I think that one is called the badgermium model. it's similar to the annoymium model, except that instead of irritating popups, it weaponizes the badgering power of children to get parents to throw money at them.

@AndyD273 This reminds me of fortnite...
My 9 year old literally begs for stuff.
We occasionally use it it to manage behavior.

6:33 PM
@James I've heard Minecraft is more effective. "Honey, if you don't behave we'll fill a chasm under your house with TNT, put a pressure plate switch under you, and save your world right before you step on it..."

7:21 PM

@Ranger That seems like something my kids would be into... Oh! After it's done, can we restore and see it again?

7:37 PM
@Ranger lol

Ah, I've got this pulled up all the time now, but when I bring it to the front I always see I've missed the conversation by hours.

@Zucce05 Just keep it permanently at the front and never do any work.

That's an approach that I may have to start taking.

Is the "There are other rooms, with 99 users currently talking in 69 rooms." thing SE wide, or just for this exchange?
Quotes work differently in here than Discord...

11:06 PM
Must be SE wide. Our site's chats can't possibly have those numbers.

Yeah, that's what I assumed too
