@Bellerophon Amazon is a huge lucrative market for pulp erotica writers. IOW, "where the money is". But I saw a video podcast saying that they are a bit trigger happy in their rules; banning a book where a character simply looked young. And in general, they seem to have an 18+ policy rather than "what's legal".
@Bellerophon 26 in the novel's present, remembering when she was 16. And, an earlier scene specifically covers what country are they in — Caribbean islands have a mixture of English and French rule, and the age of consent is 15 or 16 depending on which island you're on.
@Bellerophon How old is the collection? My Dad has vinyl going back to the late 60's.
@JDługosz CDs I don't know, presumably 70s ish up to modern as that would be when they were buying music. Then they have some vinyl as well but I can't play that on my stereo.
@JDługosz Hugh ages of consent always slightly throw me when I'm reading (in the rare book I read that mentions it) as it is 16 here and I am just so used to that.
@JDługosz I can't see them having anything that old as my dad would only be born in 67.
@JDługosz I would suggest maybe contacting Amazon and requesting clarification.
I am confused by JBH. He said he was voting not to reopen my question but the reason he gave was actually just an answer to the question.
So, if there are too many answers, the question gets closed. However, if a person feels that there is a clear answer, that is also a reason to close the question?
It's been about a day and my Sandbox question isn't making any moves. I thought I'd polished it up really nicely, but I guess it still needs work. Or does the Sandbox just move very slowly?
I get the impression that people are WAY too trigger happy with downvotes and putting things on hold around here, actually. If I have to spend hours carefully wording my questions such that no one could misunderstand, then what time would I have to actually do the writing I'm asking the question for?
@user8663905 You don't ask questions here that you could answer yourself. You ask questions here because it's your only alternative. This is designed to be a place of near-to last resort, so it doesn't get bogged down in needless questions.
@user8663905 Because it could easily get flooded with bad, pointless questions. It needs to curate its questions or else it would quickly become useless.
That also doesn't say anything to the ease with which a question should be asked. It simply says that you don't want unnecessary questions. There are ways to remove unnecessary questions without punishing people.
Such as giving guidelines along what you described, perhaps.
@user8663905 We can't expect people to follow guidelines just because they are given guidelines. It needs to be actively policed or else it would be ignored.
@user8663905 It doesn't really matter how the good questions are separated from the bad, as long as it's roughly reasonable. It just serves to prevent the overwhelming flood of bad questions that would ruin the site.
What are you talking about? Of course it matters how these things are separated out. Lest you get people who have good questions that deserve answers being denied simply because people misinterpreted the rules.
@user8663905 Of course that's unfortunate, but how else can the site work? Questions need to be curated by people and people make mistakes. It's inevitable.
@user8663905 In some ways the rule against broad questions seems unfortunate. Often a broad question can be better than an overly specific one, if it means that people aren't forced to chop up what they're trying to ask into a bunch of specific steps that may or may not be right.
What are the advantages and disadvantages (besides embarrassement) of piloting a mecha naked? I got into a debate with it with a friend of mine, with me saying that there's really no reason to pilot/operate a mecha with no clothes on.
His reasoning is that you can hook up the mecha to your own nervous system allowing you to move the mecha as if it was your own body.
What I would say is that a broad question should be able to be answered with broad answers. Just because you nees answers for a question on a spacious topic doesn't mean you don't deserve an answer.
@SCPilot It would be like a full-immersion VR experience. That would never happen naked; you'd have to wear a special suit that would be wired to give sensations to your skin, just like how you have to wear a headset.
Nods. Yep. My thoughts exactly. Something similar to what they had in G Gundam. Although, it was odd in that anime that they made a mecha for a horse to operate! Boy does that open a can of worms at a hard scifi fan convention!
