I just finished writing up a self-answered question, and I have never spent so much time just writing a post on Worldbuilding.
Hopefully, someone will appreciate it.

Can I post a self-answered question in chat? Yes I can!

@Hohmannfan Ah, clever.
Also, I'll be happy if anyone even just reads the whole damn thing.

I have started...

Enjoy yourself. . .

Done! Am I allowed to answer it too? :P

1:35 AM
Absolutely. The more the merrier.

But not tonight. Even Scandinavians need some sleep.

Ah, it's pretty late in Europe.
Less so in the Western Hemisphere.
Well, the western part of the Western Hemisphere.

What time zone are you in? Your user-name suggests that you follow UTC like everything else more than 100 km above us, but that may not be correct...

Eastern Standard Time.
But on most weekends, I'm active at some time between ~17:00 UTC - ~ 3:00 UTC - less on weekdays.
Y'now, school and other stuff, and all that.

I know school, and other stuff, and all that too myself

2:14 AM
speaking of questions -- I'm wondering why I haven't seen more uptake on my last question laughs

Btw, @fi12 , if the user edits his answer after you comment (assuming you already downvoted), you can un-downvote his answer.

Do people think that this question of mine is too opinion-based?
XandarTheZenon has a point that it is a bit opinionated, but I don't know if it's overly so, especially given the types of questions that use the tag.

3:17 PM
@TimB I'm on the fence about flagging this answer:

A: You are an advanced AI that controls a smart house. How do you kill your master?

BjondThe cleverest AIs are also lazy. I'd post a question on the internet asking people to suggest ways to kill the house owner. For added amusement, I'd entice the owner to answer it and use his answer if it's workable.

It doesn't really give a way to kill the owner.

3:28 PM
Overall, I don't see a lot of serious issues with the answers to the question.

Hmm, I see what you mean. It's not really an answer but it's a meta answer....in that rather than giving a solution it says a way to get a solution.

@HDE 226868 I have a question related to your History vs. Science question. Are you comfortable with agent based approaches to problem solving? I started writing up an answer based on how I do things, but I'm finding it seems more and more contrived unless you already like using agents to explain things in the first place.

5:51 PM
@TimB Exactly. It's problematic in the same way that an answer that only refers to another work is problematic - except in this case, you can't even follow that link or reference.
@CortAmmon What do you mean by an "agent-based approach"?

6:08 PM
@HDE226868 Yes, exactly along those lines.

@CortAmmon Then yeah, that would be great.

It includes patterns like "History might spawn an agent whose goal is to create a big battle in the plains." Then History doesn't need to worry about the battle, other than to check up every now and then to see how its agent is doing.

Okay, I think I see what you mean. Sure, that could work.

Q: Flagging to close as off-topic

fi12When you are flagging to close a question as on-topic you are presented with two reasons for closure that seem very similar: This question does not appear to be about worldbuilding, within the scope defined in the help center. Blatantly off-topic (this question has nothing to do with worldbuil...

@HDE226868 For the record, I don't think the question you have is too opinion based. The results of each method applied can be directly evaluated into plausibility of result and circumstances when applied to scenario x, allowing for an objective measurement of "best answer". In fact, we could take that further and use all methods (separately) for several scenarios, and evaluate which strategy comes out on top the most.
Alternatively, if they're all good, edit it together into a community answer and use it for reference

@Aify That's an interesting idea - and yeah, as you and XandarThe Zenon said, it does seem like it could use a general reference answer. I'll wait for more responses to hopefully come.
@Aify That's what I was thinking of doing.

worldbuilding.stackexchange.com/questions/35191/… << I'm personally amazed that more folks haven't jumped on this question with both feet :o

@Shalvenay PipperChip's answer is pretty good, especially with the fMRI angle.

@HDE226868 I agree wholeheartedly -- the fMRI suggestion's an excellent one -- I just figured there'd be more ideas people would want to share, or more detailed insights as to how the data would be processed for that matter

@Shalvenay Yeah, maybe. It might be that the question just got lost in a sea of others and didn't get noticed enough.

@HDE226868 I might just slap a bounty on it in a few days and see if anybody notices -- if not, PipperChip can take the prize

That could do the trick. I haven't been too lucky lately with getting good answers to questions I bounty, but it works in general.
