@Cerberus can’t say for sure, but we were away for almost three hours. Minor 2 started cooking when we left. So perhaps an hour? Considering that there was probably a liter of water in the pot and judging by the amount of smoke we came home to. But that’s a bit of an educated guess.

@Cerberus unfortunately yes. Just a thin layer - on everything in the kitchen.

In other words, this weekend the whole kitchen is due for a scrub-down.

We will, the scrubbing will be performed by the culprit, under close parental supervision.

And no, it’s not only the kitchen. There are three or four loads a of laundry that were parked to be folded while watching TV this weekend - going straight back to the basement. All coats in the hallway. Probably some more walls, ceilings and floors… the whole show.

I have the next two weeks off from work. My plans for that time went up in smoke last night.

I hope you will be able to laugh about it in 2 to 3 years.

We will be stripping down the wallpaper, which also means taking down the cabinets.

Washing the tiles and moving/cleaning all appliances.

And that’s just the kitchen so far.
