if they are talking ... they talk with a really uninterested tone ... very monotone

Golf commentators are worse. They use that fake whisper.

Nothing ever happens.

I am hooked on the ballet drama shows on tv.

When I was a kid in northern Virginia, soccer was our pickup game of choice. We would play all the time. But playing and watching are very different.

I live with four cats and no humans :-)

The cats have not expressed any strong opinion on television watching.

They do feel very strongly about feeding of cats, and it is about that time.

@Mien I haven't watched dexter, we just finished watching star trek TNG again ... and it was kinda bad ad we always watched it with dinner ... and then kept watching ... and didn't do anything useful around the house in the evenings

and the list of things to do around the house is always long ... and didn't get any shorter

I help in a biology research lab here in Göttingen 2 days a week (with programming scripts, databases), the rest of the time I work as a freelance web designer and illustrator

and of course take care of the cats and the cooking ... and some other faun things around the house

in quite a relaxed way ... as my fiancee is the one who (at the moment) brings home most of the bacon

I just had fried toast + avocado - and fried slices of smoked tofu with smoked paprika and a nice limy salad

No good can come from tofu :-)

that one was nice greasy and crunchy and really reach smoky tasting from the smoked paprika

@SAJ14SAJ but I guess I am just disappointing you over and over again ... vegan ... eats cinnamon raisin bagel ... thinks that tofu is a food item (however only tofu that is made by the standards of countries where it plays a major role in the traditional cuisine - and not some kind of western hippy tasteless crap that is called by that name ;-)

and I often cook double amount of food for dinner, so that we can have it also in the lunch boxes the next day

@SAJ14SAJ I don't think you need to start stewing by searing ... I somehow remember stewing as a process of slowly cooking something so that it releases the juices and combines with the rest of the dish? and so being a bit the opposite to searing (that should lock the juices in, no?)

Stewing is just another name for braising, at the fundamental level. And yes, you often start by browning the meat for flavor.

searing then just helps get the caramelines of the juices

And the whole searing locking in the juices thing is a myth that is no long debunked.

@sourd'oh In the bread/salt question, I didn't mention autolyse and gluten formation because most breads are not done via the autolyse method that requires 24 hours, and at concentrations of 2% or so in a typical bread, I wonder if the effect is actually all that significant? Any insight?
