hey @SimonAndréForsberg
@Duga create issue about what I just said
@SimonAndréForsberg Where do I create the issue against, which repo?
@skiwi since mine is a fork, I don't have github issues
@SimonAndréForsberg That's something new then, now I understand what you said a couple of days ago

Here you can observe that it lists "1 issues opened", it should be "1 issue" opened, same most likely holds for commits.

Monking @Phrancis!
How's it going?
slow and not focus on my job at all
Busy... working on FizzBuzz!
hahahaha
@Marc-Andre I've made decent progress on the meta-tags for the site. Should be finished today
15:14
@Phrancis Nice! I've not made any progress :P So it will not be finished today :P
No worries, holidays and all, we're all busy ;-)
The thing is I know I have something wrong on my end. There is something fishy in my configuration (maybe eclipse or tomcat I don't know yet) And I can't pinpoint it. It's weird.
Tried Stack Overflow? ;D
(or maybe Server Fault)
15:30
Yeah there was previous issue that I had already encountered. The thing atm is that the application don't seems to publish normally to my local tomcat server for a reason I don't know. I think it's a mix of tomcat 8 and Maven but not sure.
15:42
Doing Google+ meta tags... Should Cardshifter be categorized as an Organization or a Product?
I'm thinking Organization would be most appropriate, since we're not selling anything

Q: Cardshifter website meta-tags for SEO

PhrancisI have written the following meta-tags for SEO, please let me know if you think this could use any improvement. I have used this article to help me put it together. I have left out the page content on purpose, if you wish to see it I posted it here on CR and on Github (note the following updates ...

@Marc-Andre ^^
I don't know if Code Review is the target audience for meta-tag review.
Not sure either, I talked to Janos about it a few days ago, he said it's a bit of a grey area but I should post it to find out. Feel welcome to VTC with comment though, if you think it should go on webmasters
Specific to only your site - If the answers to your question could only apply to your site, it is probably not a good fit for Pro Webmasters. For example, we would close questions such as "What am I doing wrong here?" or "Please review my site."
well it's off-topic
on webmaster
I see
I don;t think it's off-topic, I just think it's not that much interesting in term of code.
16:11
I agree it's not a particularly interesting piece of script :)
Maybe someone will answer "Nope, nothing left to improve." and just call it done and commit it on all pages
Maybe! we will see!
@Phrancis That doesn't happen often enough on Code Review.
@SimonAndréForsberg Committing ?
@Marc-Andre answering with "nothing left to improve"
@SimonAndréForsberg I read Cardshifter instead of Code Review .... Don't ask why

Java hates nulls, right?
^^ @skiwi Is that the case?
NullPointerException are a pain
@Phrancis Depends on how much you make Java hate them!
I would honestly prefer a world without nulls though
If you try to acces a method on an object and that object is null then your programs goes boom
Ahh ok
@Marc-Andre Do you have time for a couple HTML5 related questions?
19:18
The time is not the problem! My brain is dead!
lol
Just been reading up about SEO and HTML5 (and how they work together(
I found this quote:
> The new HTML5 outlining algorithm allows multiple <h1>s in a page. We get lots of questions about whether developers will be penalised by Google which, according to myth, disallowed this.
I was not aware that <h1> had uses beyond just the size of the header
Question is, should I always use <h1> for the main title of the page when displaying it, and just adjust the size using CSS?
@Phrancis HTML is a markup language first! h1 is for header 1 -> size is style. You could do h1 with the same size and look than <p> but would still be as important to the content of the page.
For example : <a> is a link, but you can remove all the normal style and it will look lke text but would still be a link
That's what I thought. I need to revisit the pages to make sure I used headers properly. Did not realize there was more to it
Is it bad practice to have a regular space " " in file names for a website?
Example "My File.png"
19:37
@Phrancis yes, never do that. Use underscore or something instead
Ok. Been using hyphens instead of spaces for everything, so far. So I guess I'll just keep doing that. Also, file names are case sensitive if I'm not mistaken?
19:48
Have either of you used HTML5 microdata much?
20:04
@Phrancis yes, they're case sensetive. although technically, it depends on the system
microdata?
Stuff in red is added microdata.
> I had a couple different ideas on displaying card information which will eventually be in the Cyborg Chronicles mod sub-site. Would like feedback from others on what would be ideal. Each card has some things in common, e.g. image, name, description, type and values. Here are my thoughts:

1. Display as a table. This would be the simplest, but not particularly aesthetically pleasing. It would be possible to make it self-updating if the cards are kept in an Excel document within the reposit...
ory.

2. Display as actual cards. This would basically entail to display the card exactly (or as closely as possible) as it is in the game. There's probably a way to program that into the website using Java or JavaScript.

3. Display in a grid, sort of like the contributors page that Marc-Andre made. This would probably be the best-looking, though it is considerably more work. It may also make it more difficult to locate a specific card.

4. Display a list of cards with basic data, and ...
a link to a pop-up with card details. This would be analogous to how you can click a card icon to view card details in Hearthstone.

Feedback appreciated!
@Marc-Andre ^^ input appreciated
20:27
> This is what it would look like, approximately, if we did (1). Just with an added image. Not a huge fan of it.

@Phrancis Never seen that
I only know of the data-XXX properties that you can query via JS
@skiwi I would also like your input on issue #18 above, since you are an avid Hearthstone enthusiast :)
> Or since I'm starting a Java web app you can do it there, since 1. the html for each card will probably be almost the same (not the actual description but rather the markup) 2. If you add modify cards you do not need to change anything since it will be dependent on the source of the data. The actual thing would be like option 4, quick description and if you click/hover you will have more descriptions.
@Phrancis Will check once I have time, sorry playing HS right now
@Phrancis And done, i really need to finish the app to show you how it could save your life. A web app is supposed to do what you're trying to achieve there

Q: Refilling a Bejeweled Board

bazolaWhen you start thinking about designing a Match 3 type game, you realize that there are a great many ways to structure the rules. In this particular variant, the direction that the player swipes the orbs determines the way that the board is refilled. The new pieces will enter the board opposite...

Thoughts on this?
Temple Enforcer x4? Holy Nova x3?
no shadow word pain hurts
temple enforcer is tough sometime because of the high cost
Just realized I do lack card draw :/
Also no epics or legendaries, a load of rares though
First win is there... The enemy played lots of low cost and low health minions though and my Holy Nova pretty much won the game already
21:08
I've got 3 Holy Nova and not a single one pops up :(
Could've, you know, kinda used it there
...And now I 2x Holy Nova in my starting hand
and the 3rd one on turn 2

A: Microdata vs RDFa

unor Differences between Microdata and RDFa While there are many (technical, smaller) differences, here’s a selection of those I consider important (used my answer on Webmasters as a base). Specifications As W3C’s HTML WG found no volunteer to edit the Microdata specification, it is now merely a...

@Marc-Andre @SimonAndréForsberg Thoughts on this? ^^
22:14
@Phrancis never heard of RDFa
I hadn't heard of either. I found a huge blog post about it that I'm working on consuming
It's interesting, albeit a bit confusing
Perhaps I should spend a bit more time focusing on content and layout first before I dig deeper into meta-data. I don't really expect that a whole lot of people will be searching for Cardshifter that much in the near future.
22:37
@Marc-Andre That's awesome, good idea! Can't wait to see what your app will do, wish I knew enough about it to help!
