@SimonAndréForsberg Yes the mod needs to test itself. But I'm not testing the mod here, I'm testing the mod-loader

If you need a jar for it, make a jar once and put it into the test/resources folder. Don't do it through Maven.
@SimonAndréForsberg Isn't that ugly?
I believe it can be done through a cardshifter-core-parent without harming anything else
@skiwi Absolutely not. The JAR is a resource, and if you want to test the mod loader you need to provide it with a resource.
I think making it through a cardshifter-core-parent is far uglier. And unnecessary.
There won't be any further changes to that JAR, right? So why add a dependency to it?
But we still want the cardshifter-testmod-java in our repository?
This where using Maven is being a shame... All I actually want is to first build cardshifter-testmod-java and then move the JAR to the testresources folder, but as many have said, doing anything non-Maven is hard in Maven
@skiwi I think we could go either way there. Or we could add a second repository for it, it might be good to have an example mod for further modders.
@SimonAndréForsberg That's something else though... I think it goes both ways from here. On one hand we want to test the cardshifter-core to see if a most minimalistic mod works... On the other hand, we want to have reasonable mods implementing the same game in all supporting languages (Java, Lua, etc.) and also run integration tests on those
07:45
@skiwi So I guess we could have both a second and a third repository for it?
@SimonAndréForsberg It's an option yes... But keep in mind that now it involves manual copying of the JAR to the test resources in case of an update
Which is why we are using a Build system in the first place, to have it automatic
@skiwi Yes, but I believe copying the JAR manually to test/resources is the best way to go.
IMO it is a bad idea to add a mod, that should be purely stand-alone, to the build system.
I'm not so sure, it really belongs to the testing part of the core itself
But once you write that mod, there is no reason to change it.
It is a resource.
I think we need a 3rd opinion on this ;)

Yes, it starts to feel like we're fighting over duck season and rabbit season...
There must be Maven experts around... somewhere
Perhaps hidden in the deeps of Programmers.SE

@SimonAndréForsberg Are you sure that those commits need to be on the branch ais?
@skiwi Technically, they don't really belong here no, but I had to do them when debugging things related to AIs.
No problem
@bazola Does not depend on these changes, and neither do you, so I don't think there will be any merge conflicts or other problems, and I think we'll merge pretty soon anyway.
Sounds good

Food time, then I'll start working on some smarter AIs, and add an option to choose an AI
11:24
@SimonAndréForsberg Doesn't the AI choose itself?
11:48
@skiwi choose itself? How do you mean?
@SimonAndréForsberg Well, isn't the AI smart enough? :)
> Currently the JavaFX application has two entry points. One for playing a local game and one for playing on the server. It would be better if there was only one. All that's really required is to add a button to the existing network launcher that starts a local game, with the FXMLGameController.
@skiwi I mean that it should be possible to choose to play against a bad AI and a good AI. Currently there is no option for the user to set which AI it should play against.
@SimonAndréForsberg Ah wait, you said AI, not a mind-reader

@bazola @skiwi I'd recommend trying out AI Medium. Start a server and write ai medium to create it. Then start the client and play (AIs are no longer added automatically)

@SimonAndréForsberg will do
Hey @bazola
Good that you are here, there are plenty of things for you to code ;)
looks like it :)

so how do I send a command to the server to do "ai medium" in the console
15:05
[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] build #240 for commit 75bf14d2 on branch issue10 errored
@bazola you can't send a command from the client, you can only write it on the server. Make sure that you are have pulled the changes to the ais branch. In fact, you might actually be able to do a rebase: git rebase origin/ais (to keep the git history cleaner). Or if you want to merge, that's fine: git pull origin ais
> Corrected according to recent changes for events and actions
@SimonAndréForsberg If I can't send a command to the server to start the AI of choice, how can I build button in the client to choose which AI to play against? :)
@bazola you can't... yet ;) You can however make a menu in the standalone-client (FXMLGameController) :)
15:20
it will be painful to look at the old client now
lol
I know the feelings

@SimonAndréForsberg You know that remotely located servers are -for the time being- not so useful now? :)

@skiwi yes, I am aware. They will definitely be more useful when we have more players and/or the possibility to challenge AIs

Q: Parsing dates from an OCR application

skiwiI wrote this code to parse dates from the output of the OCR, which means that the obtained date can be literally anything, so I put some restrictions in place: Date is the the format of: field1?field2?field3, where the fields are either day, month or year and any delimiter can be used to split ...

I know the perfect thing to do!
@skiwi me, bored?

@EngieOP I believe there is a room somewhere that is purely for testing/spamming
I'm done. :)

do you know what is more fun than refactoring UI elements? everything. :)

@bazola Hehe
not working on our game though, working on my strategy game.. I build this UI a long time ago and I finally decided to improve it.. many hours later, still working on it

Q: The ja_JP_JP_#u-ca-japanese locale cannot be reparsed by its own pattern using the Java 8 Date and Time API

skiwiI've run across a strange issue when testing some method of mine and I seem to have been able to obtain a concrete example of my issue. I am using the ja_JP_JP_#u-ca-japanese locale not able to parse a date using it's own date pattern defined by the locale. I am wondering whether I am doing som...

Meanwhile I broke Java 8.
20:22
@skiwi again!?
@SimonAndréForsberg I think so...
This time it's not as obvious or bad as the last time though
So I'm not 100% sure of whether it is really broken
20:34
No love fof the question yet :(
Going to bed either way

Bed time here as well. Lots of stuff I want to code, but I'm freakin' tired
22:42
night @SimonAndréForsberg. I will definitely work on the UI for our game tomorrow
