@SimonForsberg Not till today.

@SimonForsberg when others my age have so much more experience with coding it makes me question if it’s worth it to continue.
I know I’ve progressed during the last few years. I still don’t feel like I know enough though.

@IvenBach Others my age have a lot more experience with having a stable relationship, getting married, having kids...

Hey everyone! have a nice day!

1 hour later…
3:51 PM
@SimonForsberg I hadn't thought of it that way before. Makes me realize we're all progressing on different aspects of life.

hey
@SimonForsberg Well but you are you, you're unique

4:13 PM
@skiwi Should I take that as a compliment? πŸ€”

@SimonForsberg Yes!

4:42 PM
Today I'm creating patch files using git diff foo..bar > patch_contents.woot and applying them to another repo with git apply patch_contents.woot.

5:28 PM
@IvenBach You little git "connaisseur"

Mainly trying to mitigate problems and manage them better.
Working without any form of version control for so long left me with lots of scars.

5:57 PM
@IvenBach Hrm... Patch files only apply the differences, no commit message is included. I'd prefer using a git bundle but that requires someone sending it to me.
I don't think there's a best option for what I'm trying to do.

6:14 PM
@IvenBach well you're only diffing 2 commit that would have been my assumption that no commit message is provided. I know some git client offer you the option of downloading a commit for an email
But don't know the command or etc

That command appears to be git bundle.
I don't have access to the original repo. I started with the initial file state and diffed them against the current state which contain my edits.

@IvenBach This look insane

What looks insane?

you not having access and having to diff file etc

Considering I work with Excel workbooks it's the norm for me.
Past-Iven working without version control had a much harder time. This is actually easy things being relative.

6:42 PM
Improvment I like to see that

This morning flailing, trying, failing, continuing-despite-frustation-and-much-WTFing has fielded beneficial fruits.

7:08 PM
When you have deployed an app but don't know exactly anymore how to update it :D
and I neither have left documentation somewhere in case stuff goes wrong..

1 hour later…
8:22 PM
@SimonForsberg never heard of it. Unless you mean Raggedy Ann and Andy?

8:59 PM
@IvenBach Applying that to any form of social skills sadly does not yield the same beneficial fruits, I think.
@IvenBach for you too ^^
The intro itself is pure awesomeness

9:28 PM
@SimonForsberg There's a reason I'm a homebody. I limit my public exposure for that reason.
I've never enjoyed interacting with social graces...

9:50 PM
@SimonForsberg As the intro song goes "Don't be scared if you don't fit in..."

It's not much of a life when you're just a pretty face
Just to be whoever you are is no disgrace
Don't be scared if you don't fit in
Look who's in the reject bin!
It's the Raggy Dolls, Raggy Dolls Dolls like you and me
Raggy Dolls, Raggy Dolls made imperfectly
So if you got a bump on your nose or a lump on your toes
Do not despair
Be like the Raggy Dolls, and say I just don't care
Cause Raggy Dolls, Raggy Dolls
Are happy just to be
Raggy Dolls, Raggy Dolls,
Dolls like you and me!

It's not much of a life when you're just a pretty face
The Swedish version of the lyrics is a bit different, here's my translation of the first part of the Swedish lyrics:

To be cute but equal as two peas in a pot what's the use in that?
A little different is nothing wrong with being
If you are of another kind
Why is one to be thrown away?
I realized that just the lyrics in the intro of this TV-show might reflect the European (or non-American) way of looking at people quite a bit.

10:20 PM
Despair not. There's plenty of people in #Muricuh that are taught to care about more than superficial qualities.

@IvenBach Yay!
In other news, there's a Church election in Sweden this week (yes, Swedish church is democratic, long story). This has again raised the question within the Church about gay marriage. Swedish church currently takes the stance that everyone is welcome to marry in the Swedish church but each individual priest has the right to say no.
A homosexual priest is now refusing to marry heterosexual couples, to highlight the discrimination of this. I freakin' love it! πŸ˜ƒπŸŒˆπŸ³β€πŸŒˆ svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/…

10:48 PM
@IvenBach mumble mumble some of these fruits aren't ripe...
I'm able to create a git bundle. Executing git verify works. I'm missing something to adequately git bundle unbundle file.bundle and apply it to a repo.

11:05 PM
@SimonForsberg Some priest who do the opposite must be doing the pikachu face when he use the same system lol

11:40 PM
@IvenBach because we've been derping really hard. After reading the manual git bundle ubundle it makes sense.
> This command is really plumbing, intended to be called only by git fetch.
Use the porcelain and not the plumbing.

11:51 PM
Works fine with fetch.
Feels klunky at best.
Step away time. Been working on this for too long. Lack of familiarity and underlying frustration methinks are preventing optimal retention.
Shiny nuggets I found are negative refspecs git-rev-parse commit exclusions and git-fetch <refspec>. They exclude anything that is not an ancestor.
