@Duga NOT THAT BLOODY BACKSLASH BUG AGAIN!
@Duga More than 150 games, that's nice!

[Zomis/Duga] Zomis pushed commit c6501cdb to develop: Change dynamic stat format to match the rest of RELOAD

[Zomis/Duga] Zomis pushed commit a65f5068 to develop: Remove extra backslashes in tests

I just realized that @Duga can never show up in RELOAD because after her commits, she reloads herself :(

[Zomis/Duga] build for commit a65f5068 on develop: This commit looks good

ohh thats sad

[SimonForsberg/minesweeper-server] Simon Forsberg pushed commit 7d8aa38 to develop: Merge branch 'master' into develop

[SimonForsberg/minesweeper-server] Simon Forsberg pushed commit a217e16 to develop: Add AI Nightmare - using a library

I used the force.

[SimonForsberg/minesweeper-server] Simon Forsberg pushed commit 1ff431c to develop: Statistics: Add requirement on summary to have at least one player

1:06 AM
@SimonForsberg did ever pervert their usage enough to make tables with them? I saw that when I had to deal with janky web pages.
SMH and 5 mins of searching brought up the table tag. Before I knew how to search properly.

@IvenBach Using   to make tables? Ugh, no I didn't misuse them that much.
I used <table><tr><th></th></tr><tr><td></td></tr></table> for that. And that I definitely misused - a lot

Previous work yes had “tables” built with nbsp to align product info. That wasn’t the worst of it either...

1:22 AM
Ugh

Hmm I wonder why my component does not refresh when the state is supposed to have changed

@Marc-Andre Vue? Probably because it's not reactive. You got any concrete code?
Either that, or the state has actually not changed the way you think.

Yep got some code give me 2 seconds to push

If you add or remove properties on objects you have to use Vue.set(object, "key", value) or Vue.delete(object, "key")

[banane-io/pdb-frontend] marcandregirard pushed commit 0854389e to develop: Added call to move the player

1:25 AM
otherwise the property doesn't become reactive

And can you see in your console.log that it has performed those actions and changed the state as you expect?
@Marc-Andre Is grid really supposed to be an array here? github.com/banane-io/pdb-frontend/blob/develop/src/store.js#L13
Here you overwrite the entire object, so that should be reactive: github.com/banane-io/pdb-frontend/blob/develop/src/store.js#L23 so that's good

Well it's an Array

Okay, then that's good :)
github.com/banane-io/pdb-frontend/blob/develop/src/store.js#L36 does it work to catch promises like that? :O

@SimonForsberg Splunk Alert: MFE Unusual amount of activity - [count:4288]

1:30 AM
Well, I don't really see anything instantly wrong in the code, what is the exact problem?

I clicked one of the button, I see calls to the store, but the value don't change....

@Duga 1366 log messages in one second - yeah I'd say that counts as unusual.
@Marc-Andre Have you used Vue devtools in the browser to see what the data is?

Yeah and it doesn't seem to change the state.... but if I refresh the page, I'll get the correct state that I'm expecting
I know the data in the db is correct

@Marc-Andre If that doesn't seem to change the state, then the problem is probably not in the reactivity, it sounds like there is a problem with actually updating the data.
Not quite sure why though
Is there any specific data that isn't updated, or is the problem in all the three calls?

Not sure what is happening either
the 3 calls
here a sneakpeak of the grid

1:38 AM
Would it be easy for me to test this locally?

start the server and client, create a user and a hero then go to grid.
Reminder: Create a seed script with some users and interesting data

> Create a seed script with interesting data like 4-5 users and heroes on different parts of the maps. This should help people have some interesting data to work with when developing (me included)

Oh wait
I understand
const zoneId = this.$store.state.hero.currentZone; <= this is not correct
Well actually it's correct if you didn't moved
But once you moved, your currentZone has changed so I needed to update this first.

@Marc-Andre But you update $store.state.hero, right?

....
I'm tired ok

1:46 AM
Is the PDB README.md instructions on getting the server up and running updated?

On develop yeah

I'm having problems with this Docker crap on my Windows machine :(

Weird

A develop server to connect to would help a lot

I know :(

1:47 AM
@Marc-Andre That's what I said: Windows.

Soonish

@Marc-Andre :)

@SimonForsberg ahaha I'm on windows at the moment and the commands works for both windows and linux
You have to do mvn package first though
You did not include this step in the docker documentation

@Marc-Andre My only recommendation is to do console.log("updating XYZ", xyz) in each of the mutation methods.

Since it needs to have the war file in target to create the container
Yeah that's what I was about to start doing :) I need to upgrade my logging skills on both client and server

1:49 AM
It tells me "invalid or corrupt jarfile pdb.war" :/

I wonder if there is a logger.debug in JS

@Marc-Andre console.debug
I'm not sure how to see the output of that though

@SimonForsberg Humm weird you run mvn package, run the command in the correct folder and it did not work? I'll have to debug your documentation :P

Now I just need to find a way to wait for the dispatch of getHero before executing the other actions

2:01 AM
So dispatch the other actions inside the .then lambda

I would need to return a Promise in the action right?

You probably could, or if you want to dispatch more actions from inside the other actions.
I'd go with dispatching more actions inside some other action
You just need to add dispatch to your { commit }

The thing is dispatching the actiosn to grid neighbors and Zone is only relevant in the GRID view

Aha

Q: Returning Promises from Vuex actions

Daniel ParkI recently started migrating things from jQ to a more structured framework being VueJS, and I love it! Conceptually, Vuex has been a bit of a paradigm shift for me, but I'm confident I know what its all about now, and totally get it! But there exist a few little grey areas, mostly from an implem...

A: Returning Promises from Vuex actions

Anoop.P.AJust for an information on a closed topic: you don’t have to create a promise, axios returns one itself: Ref: https://forum.vuejs.org/t/how-to-resolve-a-promise-object-in-a-vuex-action-and-redirect-to-another-route/18254/4 Example: export const loginForm = ({commit},data) => { return ...

but wait, @Marc-Andre, can't you just pass the correct zone id to fetchGridData ?
this.$http.post(/api/hero/movePlayer/${zone.id}).then((response) => { console.log(response); this.fetchGridData(zone.id); });
because zone.id there is the new zone you want to move to, right?

Yes and I could probably update the hero at the same timeor just set the currentZone correctly there.

2:08 AM
or can the player somehow end up elsewhere? Well, if so you could maybe return the new zone id for the player from the API ?
@Marc-Andre My spontaneous feeling is tell, don't ask in this case. Easier to expand on later in case you want to allow fetching another zone

@SimonForsberg That's a great idea too

[banane-io/pdb-frontend] marcandregirard pushed commit bd45c616 to develop: Fix warning from eslint
[banane-io/pdb-frontend] marcandregirard pushed commit 27f24e74 to develop: Partial fix to correct the state in the grid view

So going to bed now bye everyone :)

@Marc-Andre That's probably a sign I should do that too... crap.
Night

ahaha yeah but at least you helped me a lot so it's ok on my side :P
@SimonForsberg Gotta need to look at those later (expect Pandemic)

1 hour later…
3:42 AM
@IvenBach No commits, Nothing for @Duga to mention. But I did finish the webform I was working on this weekend. At least theres that.

@Marc-Andre Why not pandemic?

@SimonForsberg I already know that game :) need to play it but I know what the game is about

@Marc-Andre I trust you so I am giving you access to minesweeper-server and minesweeper-core, then you can see how big of a mess the minesweeper-server really is :)

[SimonForsberg/minesweeper-server] Simon Forsberg pushed commit a307ef4 to master‌: Add SQL time logging
[SimonForsberg/minesweeper-server] Simon Forsberg pushed commit 56dc6d1 to master‌: Jenkinsfile: Update deploy condition to use /activity call

@SimonForsberg you seen to be having a productive day.

I have been more productive...
There's only been about five real commits today so far, the rest is just merges
and pushing the server to github, so that it doesn't only exist on Bitbucket

1:27 PM
@SimonForsberg Oh nice! I'm really curious to see how it all works

@Marc-Andre It's a mess :)
But you should start with watching the first 400 lines of MfeServer.java
I'm planning on rewriting a whole lot of code, but right now I'm not sure where to even get started... it's so many things that are interconnected.

@SimonForsberg Is any of the code testable? I'm itching to read amazon.com/Working-Effectively-Legacy-Michael-Feathers/dp/… to in hopes of picking up better refactoring skills.
amazon.com/… had also been suggested to me at one point.

@IvenBach Funny you are mentioning it because I'm currently right now writing some tests for it

If you have any insight/tips as to refactoring let me know.

It's testable, but not tested
The old code is not easily testable though

Testable pre-rewrite?
Ah.
At least it is testable.

@IvenBach Loose coupling, adapter pattern can be useful sometimes when converting from one type to another, start from the right direction
@IvenBach At least it will be when I'm done with it.

3:47 PM
:+1:
I need to figure out how to make code testable that isn't. IE how to properly create wrapper that tests things so I can then refactor without mucking everything up.

4:07 PM
@Hosch250 I'm lagging behind you on CR. Per quarter stats you're #65 while I'm at #111. Gotta catch up to you.

@IvenBach LOL, I've done nothing this quarter...
Oh, I guess I answered a couple questions, one of which went hot and I hit the rep cap.
Way back in January.

That means I just have to get lucky with a question.

VBA rarely gets that hot.
It's the languages "everyone" knows that go hot, like Java and C#.
It's a LOT of luck, though.
And answers generate more rep.

VBA questions on CR are lower than I'd like.

Talking about rep, just thinking, what if there was an initial rep drop for asking a question on SO that you could earn back if it got enough votes.

4:21 PM
Fewer questions are asked I should say.

So basically, put a bigger incentive for people asking to generate good questions if they want to keep their rep.

[Zomis/minesweeper-server] Zomis pushed commit e922be94 to develop: Cleanup modified+start time
[Zomis/minesweeper-server] Zomis pushed commit c19bec6d to develop: Some cleanup in MfeUser
[Zomis/minesweeper-server] Zomis pushed commit 5bc2b6ab to develop: Improve testability of server
[Zomis/minesweeper-server] Zomis pushed commit 80757fa6 to develop: Change logging when socket has connection problems

Would probably hit the small communities unduly hard, though.

@Hosch250 Then there's also the problem about few people voting

[Zomis/minesweeper-server] build for commit 80757fa6 on develop: This commit looks good

4:23 PM
Yeah.
I don't think I'd make a good CM.

4:56 PM

5:16 PM
hey
@SimonForsberg LOL
I still want to know why that bug exists

@skiwi Yeah me too but at least now I fixed the damn thing

@SimonForsberg How?

by removing the extra backslash
see my meta question
or @Duga's commit

Ah
Also, today I spent the whole day trying to bring down a copy of our production server, but I failed :(
I'm at the point now where I need to write an IIS log parser and try to find any patterns

IIS ?

5:26 PM

@skiwi Simon's about to say Splunk.

Microsoft IIS

Are we talking like.... more or less regular log files?
In that case I'm definitely gonna say SPLUNK!!!!!

Basically structured log files that can be slightly customized.

Oh yes, definitely Splunk
@skiwi Tomorrow I would recommend that you go to splunk.com/en_us/download/splunk-enterprise.html# , register for free, download your free copy, install it, click "Add data" and upload the file to Splunk. Then have fun!

5:31 PM
@SimonForsberg Uploading? Unlikely I can do that at work
Oh... it's uploading locally?

yeah, you install it locally and upload to your own machine

Monking!

@SimonForsberg Are you on splunk free?
Hey @Phrancis
:)

@Marc-Andre About a week or two ago or so I actually got a developer license that I requested, full features for 6 months. Then I will probably go back to free again unless I can get some discounted price
The Splunk Alerts that I added to @Duga are unfortunately not available in the free license :(

oh but the free version was enough for a while?

6:00 PM
@Marc-Andre I could still use the free version if I wanted to. But I wanted to try out some more features, like the alerts.

ok but 500mb a day was enough ? I'm a bit surprised

6:16 PM
Back to front-end...
I need to refactor the thing, I think I'll go for a price for English, Japanese and Other cards
Displaying three prices kind of feels weird though
I'm thinking to temporarily get rid of the Add button and put the prices under each other, with the currently active price the biggest
In the beginning that'll be English, but when I add a sort by Japanese price for example, then Japanese can be highlighted
Apparently making a 3x2 grid work is still rocket science though
O hey it works
Except GUI is still rocket-science

6:39 PM
@Marc-Andre 500 MB per day is a lot really. For me that is more than enough.

@SimonForsberg For reference, our production servers produce somewhere between 100 MB and 200 MB I think

@skiwi Per day? Heck, then you can use Splunk in production - for free!

anyway that's another added to my todo list...

@SimonForsberg Yeah
We rather develop our tools ourselves though than rely on third party tools
Right now I'm just doing a one-off analysis though

@Marc-Andre Checking out Splunk? :)

6:47 PM
Yes

@skiwi Then you have a perfect use-case for trying it

My todo lists goes something like :
- Dev instance
- Seed data
- Check out Splunk
- docker compose?
- Oauth

Version 0.17.18 released https://forums.factorio.com/68443

@Marc-Andre Sounds like a very nice plan. I'm not sure if you need Docker compose though, but I guess that's why the question mark is there.

@SimonForsberg Exactly I don't know exactly what it's used for or what is it, so I need to check it out.

6:56 PM
Ah :)

That to-do list is for things I need to do but don't want to really at the moment

Thoughts for the prices?
I tried having the main language (English) pop up in a bigger size, but imo that gets ugly then

[skiwi2/pokemon-buylist] skiwi2 pushed commit a062d33c to master: Added prices for different languages.

@skiwi Is there a reason you show all the prices, rather than change it with localization?

@Peilonrayz It's prices for different cards
Even if you are from England, you might have a Japanese card.

7:02 PM
@Peilonrayz I could be from US but have cards in japanese

or vice-versa.

Exactly ^^
I see a lot of Magic buylists simply offer only 50% for different languages, but it's not that easy for Pokemon

I used to play a lot of Yugioh, and never encountered support for this.

@SimonForsberg What component would you use for a filter? I want some heading and then form buttons below it... can't really find a nice heading though
Maybe a toolbar is best.. but it feels odd
Basically I want a Form that's styled as one component with an optional title

What's wrong with the one you already have, @skiwi?

7:09 PM
@SimonForsberg It's not clear that there's filters there, and it sticks to the side of the navigation drawer

@Phrancis Did you complete the Ch7 House exercise? Working on it and it feels good knowing how to set it up.

Actually I may want the filters in the middle of the page, need to figure out how to do that

@skiwi Wow Pokemon has a ton of card variations. Do the cards not have a different ID in different languages? Such as CP6 64 for a special (rather than base) Japanese Pidgeot

@Peilonrayz Not per se
Now if I could have a div align vertically centered into my v-flex then I'd be a very happy man

7:26 PM
@IvenBach Yeah that was good fun

That's really strange, in Yugioh they all have an ID so DT02-EN069 and HA02-EN039 are the same card in two different English sets. Where it's DTC2-JP009 in one of the Japanese sets. Makes it easier to know what you're getting then.

@bruglesco You have a fun example ahead of you when you get to Ch7.

I'm surprised Pokemon doesn't do something similar

@Peilonrayz As far as I'm aware the main distinction is English and Japanese, and most if not all other sets are English cards in a different langauge
Actually I want my element to be absolutely centered on my page, wonder if that's possible

7:51 PM
It would be cool if anyone would know how to ^^
I'm starting to doubt if Vuetify offers a native option, and the CSS trick seems to mess with my v-layout
As it's also absolute in the horizontal direction, but I don't want that, I only want it absolutely int he vertical direciton

This is pretty cool: axios.com/…

Right when I was about to say "Nice, it's refactored and it still works!"

9:40 PM
I'm close to getting it to work... but I also need to go to bed
@SimonForsberg Do you know about that arrow_drop_down by any chance?

@skiwi I guess it's not a <v-icon> ?

@SimonForsberg I didn't do anything, I'm just using the <v-autocomplete>

Do an npm install again and turn off and on the npm run serve

@SimonForsberg Yes, it doesn't work yet :(
Maybe all my icons are borked

I guess you might be missing the Material Icons thingies
Maybe you need to include them somehow, I can't remember

9:48 PM
weird
Oh, I still need to include it

Yeah they don't just appear by themselves

Woo, it works!

Nice, @skiwi!

10:01 PM
I'm impressed :D

@skiwi By yourself? :)

@SimonForsberg Yes
And Vue too

Thought so :)

Next up is figuring out how to get the numberInSet field from the 'parent' of my cards

As I just told one of my old players: It's about one and a half month now since I started this new client, and it looks much better than any of the old ones ever did

10:03 PM
The structure is first a list of sets, and every set has a list of cards
Maybe I need to inject it somehow

@skiwi From the parent to a child? Use a property.

And I want checkboxes based on all varieties available (not yet visible in the gif, but they're First Edition, Shadowless and Unlimited for example)
And then more data

<Card :numberInSet="someValue" ...>
@skiwi Always more data

@SimonForsberg I actually meant in the json... but that'll do too

[skiwi2/pokemon-buylist] skiwi2 pushed commit cab85414 to master: Refactored to now use real data and images.

10:08 PM
I should probably put the variety higher up and make it bold... tomorrow
TTGTB

> just trying :)
[Zomis/minesweeper-flags-client] build for commit a6626c0b on master: This commit looks good
